Is fame game really worth all the troubles?

On this forum, we advocate that fame game triumphs all with women. Of this there is no doubt. It can land you the highest grade and quantity of women possible. But after reading the Charlie Sheen thread, and being aware of so many celebrities that have succumbed to self-destructive behaviour, is it worth it, and that at the highest magnitude? Lot of these lives seem soulless and empty, despite all the wealth, success and attention they receive. I'm talking about those who bathe in fame and try to extract everything from it.

Its easy to say that all you have to do is moderate yourself, and if you do, you'll be alright. But when temptations are abound and the spotlight is shining on you at unprecedented levels, which very few of us if any have experienced, our carnal desires and greed are far more likely to consume our very core.

I think its better to aspire to be on neither end of the spectrum i.e. your average guy who no one gives a shit about, or someone which every household globally knows about. Something like you're well known within your local community. Or it could be national/global fame, but a few tiers below that of entertainers. A field like photography for example. Its a catch, but not on the level of pop-stars and actors. This separates you from the average guy, where your access to attractive women will be much higher, but at the same its not likely to be enough to devour the sense of peace within oneself, which mad amounts of fame can do.

I remember reading an essay by a philosopher from the past who's name I can't remember, and he said something along the lines of "without a steady mind and intelligence, there can be no peace. And how can there be happiness without peace?"

This is why striving for fame at the highest level is a risky endeavour. I mean its almost unlikely that we'll even get there, but just the desire itself is unnecessary. Some recognition to separate you from your typical guy, with a bit more, I believe will bring a more balanced way of living.

Wealthy/rich and well respected in your professional and social circles in but not famous is the holy grail to me. I find it incredible that many desire fame, it's the most obvious poisoned chalice in society to me.
