We don't have a specific Hans Hoppe (or Hans-Hermann Hoppe) thread, so I'm opening this one. He is a great, wise man of the Right, and he has cutting insight into the nature of the current Western social malaise.

I especially like the focus he is putting on democracy as the root cause of the social degeneration. He even explained why the media is playing the role that it is. In my opinion the only chance Europe and the West has is a forcible constitutional reversion back from democracy to the traditional order.

Also made good points on why the Right and Libertarianism mostly overlap.

I would add, at a minimum, be and do whatever makes you happy, but always keep in mind, that as long as you are an integral part of the world-wide division of labour, your existence and well-being depends decisively on the continued existence of others, and especially on the continued existence of white heterosexual male dominated societies, their patriarchic or patrician family structure, and their bourgeois and aristocratic lifestyle and conduct.

He's very intellectually rigorous, so if you find his opening ground-work tedious just skip ahead a bit.

How ironic. I'm currently reading his book A Short History of Man and I find myself nodding in agreement with every thing he says. Maybe I'll write up a review when I'm finished with it.

Good thread idea.

A few years ago I read his book "Democracy, the God that failed" and was very impressed. Thought provoking ideas and a completely new perspective, which changed my world view quite a bit. I would recommend everyone to read it.

His comparison of Democracy and Monarchy was astonishing, and I loved the way he analyzes the many inherent failures and flaws of a democratic system.

The only thing I didn´t agree on was his proposed solution. Anarcho-capitalism, while it sounds good in theory, is in my opinion about as realistic as a communist society, so not at all. It just goes against human nature and even if it is achieved somehow, it´s doomed to fail.

Anyway, he´s an interesting, controversial character and red pill as fuck.

Hans Hoppe has played a major role in my political thought. Democracy-The God that Failed is why I no longer vote or spend any time following candidates and elections. One of my favorite quotes from him: "States are institutions that cause problems and present themselves as the solution for the very problems they caused."

This is one of my favorite lectures. He explains why limited government is impossible and why the worst people always rise to power in democracies.

Hoppe is my greatest living hero. I urge you all to also read A Theory Of Socialism & Capitalism (hint, all modern states are socialist), and the Economics & Ethics Of Private Property.
