Disney is in early discussions with Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment about rebooting “Splash,” one of the production banner’s early classics. Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell are attached to star in the remake written by Maria Lewis-Ryan.
The original film follows a young man (played by Tom Hanks) who reunites with a mermaid (Daryl Hannah) who saved him from drowning as a boy. He falls in love with her, not knowing who/what she is. In this version, Tatum will actually play the mermaid who saves Bell as a girl only to reunite with her years later.

Friday the 13th (Jasonina Vorhina would be scary)

Setting aside from the gender swapping in remakes of classic movies, anyone else think this is truly a period of creativity bankruptcy in Hollywood? Every movies coming out from hollywood seems to either be a comic book adaption or a remake of a classic movie. When's the last time an original movie was made that wasn't a reboot/remake/book adaption? Then to add further insult to injury they're shoving down their SJW agenda having all female casts.

This bitch has a face made for radio. Why does American media keep on casting the ugliest Indian bitches possible?
I don't think Oceans Eight should even be made, but if they need an Indian actress currently working in the US, they could try casting Hannah Simone from New Girl TV show

I'm actually surprised this hasn't been sold to Netflix like Annihilation considering the bomb it's going to be.

Yep.
Jennifer Lawrence's 'Red Sparrow' most likely failed to make a profit.
Tomb Raider 2018 barely made a profit, if at all.
Annihilation came & went without any impact / fanfare (despite being 'saved' by Netflix).
"Girl power" does not sell well...
Admittedly Oceans 8 may do alright considering the cast.
Plus with little competition from Soylo & it's estimated budget of only - $70 million USD; it doesn't have to earn a ridiculous amount to achieve a profit.
Yet all the same, I can't foresee a great deal of enthusiasm for that film based off the main trailer nor for a half-arsed copy of the original films.
