Having an addiction has nothing to do with demons inside your head tempting you, it's all about chemicals and brain physiology.

Some people would argue it's the same thing...just using a different sort of name. By calling it "physiology" or "chemical" instead of "demon" you are rendering it less frightening and disguising its possible true nature.

The placebo effect in which people take fake medicines yet still get cured from serious illnesses has never been fully explained although it is very widespread. Now if you change your mind's concept of "placebo" to something like "holy spirit" or "buddha nature" then it suddenly takes on a much more powerful meaning.

This would also explain why there are so many documented cases of people who cure themselves of cancer with no treatment.
