Trench Coat/Duster

I searched the forum but I didn't get very conclusive results there was only one post on jackets and it was old and had nothing in it about trench coats/Dusters so on with my post.

Its getting to be cold in Chicago and I need to find a trench coat/Duster, one that goes at least down below my knees and is waterproof. I'm just wondering if anyone has got any recommendations because i can't find anything substantial online except one i found on cabelas website.

If you're gonna go down this road, get something good. Grab a leather longcoat from a decent leather store, don't get some cheap ratty looking thing unless you wanna look like Harry Dresden/Inspector Gadget/a flasher.

Go check out the coats at Wilson's Leather to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Shop around, find something you personally like to wear, not just something that looks good. If you're gonna spend that much on it, it better feel great. Grab a pair of lined leather gloves in the same color/style to complete the look.

For bonus points, lose an eye and assemble a team of superheroes.

There's nothing wrong with a little trench coat game from time to time.

thanks for the recommendation but leather is not what I'm looking for. leather is too expensive and will not last long enough time for the money spent. I think I found what I'm looking for though.

You could also get a good 3/4 length wool coat. It's good for when you're dressed casual or pressed up. I'm looking to get one this week.

Personally for me (since I'm a white guy with black hair, who is usually wearing a navy suit with a white dress shirt) I've found that stealing this look from television works fairly well:

I will say that I've had a terrible time finding a good one. I've been looking and I can't find them reasonably.

I bought that for $100 at Cavendars. Problem is I found out it's not meant for cold weather, intentionally "breathes" to keep you cool in the heat. Looks cool with the right outfit though, think cowboy boots and jeans.

I probably wouldn't go there unless I could find the perfect Fedora to wear with it.
