A Year In Santo Domingo (Data Sheet)

Ok, so I just left Santo Domingo after 12 months in the Dominican Republic and I’m on my way to Peru. I still don’t know how I made it one year, most guys get sick of the gold-diggers and power outages and want to leave after a few months.

Anyway, as I’m feeling all nostalgic, I thought I’d share some thoughts the on capital city of The DR. Yes I know, I know. There have been plenty of Santo Domingo data sheets and they are all still valid, however, because the RVF forum was responsible for getting me to the DR (and keeping me there) I feel obliged to share my experience.

Firstly, this data sheet is not for guys who want to stay in a hotel for one weekend and get girls from Dominican Cupid. While there’s nothing wrong with that, this data sheet will be more useful to guys who want to live there longer than a few weeks.

Here are some things that haven’t been covered much in previous Santo Domingo data sheets:

Where To Stay/Live
In order of recommendation:

1. Piantini
Piantini is the ‘new money’ area of Santo Domingo and where I lived for a year. Here you’ll find high-end nightlife and the best daygame spots (Agora, Blue Mall and Sambil). You also have plenty of bars and restaurants to take girls to on dates.

Mention to girls on Whatsapp/ online that you live in Piantini “Vivo en Piantini”; they will know that you live in a nice area and that you are not a tourist/backpacker. They will also know that it’s safe to visit you at night. This is HUGE. Santo Domingo girls are notoriously paranoid about taking taxis after dark to come see you.

Another plus is that if you find a place just off Lincoln Avenue or Churchill then it’s a short walk back to your place after a date. Domincan girls don’t like to walk because of crime, the heat and their high heels so logistics can mean the difference between you getting the bang or going home alone.

2. Naco
Naco is the ‘old money’ area of Santo Domingo. Slightly less commercial activity than neighboring Pianitni but still safe with a few nightlife spots.

3. Bella Vista
Underrated but you can find good prices and your value will be high because of the lack of other foreigners. You won’t see many gringos in Bella Vista, Naco and Piantini. On the Malecon, Gascue and especially Zona Colonial you’ll see many.

Bella Vista Mall is a good daygame spot as well.

4. Malecon
‘El Malecon’ is right on the water and the temperature is consistently 10 degrees cooler than the downtown areas. UTESA University (god I love that place) is within walking distance for daygaming. The only downside is that the only nightlife you’ll find around here are casinos and hotels infested with pros.

5. Gazcue
Gazcue is next door to Zona Colonial but quieter and more residential. If you are on a budget you can find some good places here.

6. Zona Colonial
The Colonial Zone is the historical area of Santo Domingo. Ground zero for tourists during the day, then prostitutes and assorted hustlers at night. There is a lot of foot traffic for daygame approaches and a few nightlife venues around there but you’ll see more non-dominicans (gringos and Haitians) than in the other areas I mentioned.

My place in Piantini was $700 a month for a two bedroom. I got offered a really nice one-bedroom in Bella Vista for 450 a month. Being on the ground and speaking to Dominican guys is the best way to find these deals.

Getting Around

Car
Having a car in the DR will dramatically increase the quality of your bangs but, you DO NOT want to drive there. Ever. Bad roads and even worse drivers. It’s a bit of a Catch 22.

Carro Publico or Guagua
A ‘carro publico’ is basically a shared taxi where 5-6 people, who are all going in the same direction, cram in together like sardines. Good if you are lucky enough to get a cute dominincan girl to sit on your knee. Otherwise, I’d avoid them.

A ‘guagua’ is Domincan’s version of the local bus. You need to know Spanish and know the city well to navigate these. It always looks hot as hell in those things as well.

Girls will willingly commute to work on ‘carro publicos’ and ‘guaguas’ but insist on a personal taxi when they come see you. If she uses a Guagua to come see you, she’s a keeper.

Taxis
I have this routine that I always run on cab drivers in the DR. I tell them I’ll be in town for a week and I’ll need a driver that I can trust to get me around. I tell him he seems "buena gente" and how difficult it is to find a driver who will keep you safe and not rip you off. They always give me their card and a good price. I either toss the card or keep it in case of emergencies.

Within a 2 mile radius – a taxi will cost 150 pesos.
5 miles will be around 200.
Anything over 350/400 she is coming from far away or trying to rip you off.

PM me if you want the number of a taxi service that you can message on Whatsapp. You give them the start and end destinations and get a price quote before they send the car.

Meeting Girls
In order of recommendation:

1. Nightgame
I always found Dominicans to be friendly and approachable in nighttime venues.

Here are a few places off the top of my head:
  • Zambra
This is a higher-end place in Piantini. The best place to talk to the girls is outside on the smoking patio.
  • Golds
This is a club inside a casino in Bella Vista. I went there once. All the clubs on Avenida Venezuela are like Golds.
  • Capital
If you are 40+ and/or into cougars then go there.
I went to some clubs, such as ‘Eros’, in barrios like ‘Sabana Perdida' but I was with dominican guys and other forum members. Your exotic value will be super high in these hoods BUT… these areas are super dangerous so you have been warned.

Is Avenida Venezula worth it?
If you go in a group and get bottle service, then yes. If you want to meet girls, then no. If you want to approach you would be better off running game outside. Don’t hang around there for long though – its gets sketchy very quickly.

2. Daytime
Other forum members have already covered Agora Mall, El Conde and Sabmil etc. which are all excellent day game spots. Rather than a recommendation for a specific place, this is more of a tip for a certain time of day.

I always found lots of attractive women (with jobs!) between 12-2pm and 5-6pm in the downtown areas. You’ll see the girls in their tight blazers and white shirts unbuttoned showing some chest meat. Dominican girls look sexy even when they go to work. Be quick during these times because they are all either on lunch break or going home for the day. Get in, get the number, get out.

3. Social Circle
Social circle game is so underutilized but…you need time and Spanish.

Hang out with dominican guys and/or other forum members. Dominican girls always have a ‘friend/cousin/co-worker’ who wants to meet a gringo. Ask for photos and then decide if you want to pursue or not. Talk to your buddy’s girl – ask her if she has a cute friend: “tienes una amiga que este buena”? Domincan women are some of the best wing-women I’ve ever met.

When you make friends with the locals you’ll get invited to some events/parties that other foreigners don’t know about. The best concentration of hottest girls I ever saw was when me and Pitt went to a graduation party. We had to sit through 2 hours of boring clapping and diploma passing but that room was full of hot girls.

Dominican Guys
I never experienced any ounce of cockblocking. Dominican guys have game and are pussy hounds. Talk to them about girls and you’ll have a new friend.

Not only that, if you are a gringo hanging with a Dominican guy and you point out a girl that you like, if he knows her - he’ll make sure you have her by the end of the night.

I made many friends training Sanda and Masculine Profiles did the same thing playing basketball. Sports is a great way in if you Spanish is weak.

4. Online Game
Online should only be for short trips. I shake my head when guys say: “I’ve got five hot dominican girls blowing up my Cupid/Badoo/Tagged account saying they ‘love me’ and ‘want to have my babies’.” These girls are saying these things to at least 4 other guys; I’ve seen their cell phone messages.

In the DR, I dated one 9 and two 8s; one through social circle, one from day game, the other from nighttgame. This is very telling. All the hot girls online are getting bombarded with messages.

Badoo & Tagged are getting played out. Tinder is not popular but is on the rise. Facebook and Instagram are under utilised.

If you do use online game, here are a few tips.

Firstly, cast your net wide online. Even if she lives on the other side of the island, if you build enough rapport and comfort you can convince her to come visit you.

Secondly, in your first few messages, make it clear that you are IN THE COUNTRY. Trust me, so many tools are messaging these girls from overseas its unreal. Just by stepping foot on dominican soil you are miles ahead of other guys.

Girls & Game
Very few girls in the DR are looking for no-strings-attached hook ups. The majority of them want something serious. Serious= them moving in with you and you paying their bills.

I’ve seen the ‘sell the dream’ game work very effectively on dominican girls. Here's a quick insight into the Dominican mindset– it’s all about showing their friends, coworkers and people in their neighbourhood how ‘baller’ they are. If you can give her some kind of experience where she can take a photo (in your car, eating sushi, drinking a bottle of Johnnie Walker at the club. wearing Nike Air Jordans) then she is yours and won’t be going anywhere.

Also, don’t pussy foot around with dominican girls. Watch how dominican guys do it. They are super direct. My game certainly improved in terms of dominance while I was there.

First Date
Ask the girl to come to your place first. If she puts up some resistance, tell her you’ll pay her taxi. But whatever you do, make sure she gets the price from the driver before he sees you or hears your accent. It happened to me a couple of times where the girl would meet me alone and we’d walk around the corner to where the taxi driver was waiting for money.

Now if she won’t budge on meeting at your place, make a concession and say you’ll meet at the nearest public place to you. DO NOT go far to meet. If you do this you might have a wasted trip. Dominican girls are useless at understanding directions. They are also chronically late and might not even show up at all.

Once she’s at your place – cook together. Get behind her while she’s mashing those Tostones. Play bachata music and have a TV in your room and you’re golden.

One final tip – start the date early. I missed out on so many first date bangs because the girl had to go at 11pm. Ask her beforehand if she has a kid or lives with her parents. If so, push for a late afternoon meet so that you don’t waste all that drink and taxi money when she starts clock watching at 10.30.

Lastly, have a spare toothbrush and some mints at your place. Some dominican girls have worse breath than other places I’ve been. Or maybe I just slammed too many big-tit barrio skanks from Badoo.

Chapiadoras & Pros
A ‘chapiadora’ is basically a dominican version of a semi-pro. There are many of them in Santo Domingo and they are usually hot. In my year there I had a handful of requests for money from girls. One guy I knew (was dating a strong 8) had the girl ask him to put down a deposit for a house that she wanted to live in alone. You’ll get more money requests from the younger girls in the 18-25 range. They often have delusions of grandeur that you will help them find a place and pay their rent. The ones over 25 usually have kids and don’t expect much.

[Image: 11377640_1592316354383228_1280169360_n.jpg]

If a girl does ask you for money, don’t shut her down outright because she will go and and sleep with some other guy who will cough up the dough. If you can, put her off with some bullshit excuse about having to transfer money from your savings to your checking account or that you are a bit short this month because you just invested 20,000 in some property back in the states. She won’t mention it any more and will still be your girl.

The best tactic is to head off the money requests before they arrive. Tell your girl that the reason you like her is because she’s not after money like all the rest “me gustas proque no eres una interesada como las otras.” That will shut her down before she gets any ideas.

To people who think that the DR is infested with pros, that’s not the case in Santo Domingo. The only place you’ll see them is on El Conde and on the Malecon.

White God Factor?
Yes and no. A domincan girl’s favorite color is dark green. I’ve seen dark-skinned, dominican-looking guys slay 3-4 new girls a week. Money, fashion and game trumps all.

You’ll have less exotic value in the touristy areas like Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, Sosua etc. You’ll also have difficulty finding a ‘normal’ girl in those towns. This is why I recommend most guys stick to Santo Domingo or Santiago if they want to meet girls.

Safety & Crime
I want to cover this because many guys are apprehensive about traveling to concrete jungles in Latin America.

In twelve months I only had a couple of hairy moments. The first one was when I was at the carnival and a crowd of young guys ran past us and one of them grabbed my phone in my pocket and tried to snatch it and keep running. I grabbed his wrist and took my phone but he ran off into the crowd. The second time was when I went alone to a kickboxing tournament in Cristo Rey. This is one of the worst areas and I had to wander around and ask a bunch of mean looking guys where the gym was.

Every other time I was with dominicans and never had any problems.

Domincan chicas will tell you lots of stories about robberies and how their phone was stolen but most dominicanas have big asses and small brains. If you’re walking through a barrio talking on a Samsung Galaxy, what do you expect? Stick to the areas I mention in this data sheet and you’ll be fine.

That’s all I can think of on Santo Domingo for now.

Thanks to all the forum members I met down there - Pitt, Carribean Soul, fvitterbi, Masculine Profiles, Zoom, Spider, The Driver, Global Entry,, Nacimiento, Renotime, Internation Playbody, Balls Deep. All good guys.

Happy to answer any followup questions.

Lima awaits!

A Year In Santo Domingo (Data Sheet)

Hey, I'm thinking about spending the winter in Santo Domingo. A few questions:

- How were you able to stay so long? Is there a visa renewal type deal like they have in the Philippines or did you just pay a fee for over-staying when you left?

- As a guy with very minimal Spanish is it still worth it? My understanding is that very few of the girls will speak any English. This is the main obstacle I see for myself. I'm not opposed to learning it, but of course that will take 6 months or so. Seems like that Linux guy rails piles of Colombians without any Spanish but not sure I could pull that off.

- In regards to accommodations, how easy is it to find a furnished apartment in any of the areas you mentioned in the $500-$700 range for 3 months? Any local websites you could recommend? In my experience in other countries if you're looking for anything under 6 months Airbnb is the way to go, because usually if you're signing a lease they want at least 6 months. Is internet normally included and is it at least functional?

Good write up and thanks in advance for any advice.

Where in Santo Domingo can I best expect to find women who speak English? The universities? Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, and I don't have the time to pick it up before I go to the DR over Christmas.

Learn as much as you can. When the time comes, use the Google app translate to help you along. You need to have an interest. If you are looking for English speakers, you are going to be limited to gringo chasers and higher middle class lizards (who aren't that easy to my awareness).

There's a Holiday Inn on Lincoln Avenue and a Marriott (inside the high-end 'Blue Mall') on Churchill Avenue.

Both are walking distance to the high-end clubs in the area. There are good date spots in that area also such as 'La Dolceria'.

There are lots of 9's in that area but also valet parking for BMWs, Lincoln Navigators etc. so budget accordingly.

Getting much love on latinamericancupid.com (who doesn't), so planned an adhoc trip within the next week for minimum 3 days. I'll stay an extra 2 to 3 days if it's all good. Taking classes right now and one class requires me be on campus, so i'm limited to 6 days anytime i travel. Will post my first rolling datasheet when i arrive. I'm planning trips to Santo Domingo, La Vega, Puerto Plata, and Santiago. Don't know if I'll make them all but will try. Would frequent visitors recommend contacting a driver or should i just rent my own carro?

Off Topic but I may post a Davao, Philippines datasheet, I just think most everything is covered on that front. I lived there before I got with my current (pinay) girl and may be able add some knowledge.

Get a driver.

Better yet, get THE driver.

P.S. La Vega sucks outside of Carnival time. Puerto Plata isn't really worth it either unless you're with family/friends at a resort.

I just got back from the DR, Balls Deep and I had a couple of nights in Santo Domingo. Mammas club was a decent spot with some quality girls. There some good bars/clubs on the same street all within walking distance.
We stayed at the Ramada Princess that has Golds club inside. We had a couple of easy pulls from there and the pool area.

I recently spent a month in Santo Domingo. I stayed in Naco and although nothing happened to me.
I didnt feel safe at all even walking 1 to 2 blocks to the shop or to a friends apt.
I've walked through central Beirut at night and felt safer if that puts anything in perspective haha!
I've heard some nasty stories too from friends there about shootings and stabbings purely over mobile phones.

I'm going back there though at the end of the month.
If you have common sense and you choose to be street smart, Know the area you're in and NEVER flash phones and money, you should be fine!

I've never seen so many huge asses in my life. Agora mall is just full of Kim K bootys everywhere!
My good friend I'm staying with when i go back this Christmas is a rich girl I actually met here in the UK.
We have a FWB situation which is cool
