I didnt feel safe at all even walking 1 to 2 blocks to the shop or to a friends apt.

Is Naco a dangerous place? I'm staying there later this month and have never heard or read anything about it being dangerous. My understanding is that it is easily one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Am I missing something?

It's safer than other areas, the previous poster was just making a point to not flash phones and money around while walking at night. Aren't you more of a daygamer/online anyway? In that case you'll be fine. Naco is filled with fancy clothing boutiques and high end restaurants and the people of that area look nothing like the rest of the DR (aside from a small subsection in Santiago). Thing is those people never go out at night, at least not to bars and clubs.

Don't skimp on cabs at night. In Santo Domingo I use Apolo Taxi 809-537-0000. No matter where you are they'll send someone in 3 minutes or less. Naco is central enough that cabs will be $4-5 anywhere, unless you have the need to go to the hood.

Guys, be safe but also don't blow it out of proportion. Uber is now available, and while there aren't that many drivers yet, utilize it! If you're a walker like me, then dress down, get a beat up phone to carry around, not too much cash, and tell any peddlers to fuck off. Use some common street sense.

During the day you'll be fine in middle to upper class neighborhoods. I just took a walk from North Gazcue (which is actually as pleasant as it gets here) down to the Malecon and back up to la Zona Colonial, which is actually quite shitty on the outskirts. Stick to busy street where other people are walking. However, get your ass a ride at night. Even the locals look at me funny when I tell them I walk two blocks down to the bodega at night.

I swear, if they didn't have pleasant / big bootied women here, no one would come to SD for all the noise, pollution, traffic, awful service, and overpriced bad food.

If you don't feel safe in Naco (a middle-class area) then Santo Domingo isn't for you. I walked home from the Olympic Stadium (through Naco) at 9 o'clock at night plenty of times.

Something is much more likely to happen to you in Villa Juana, Cristo Rey, Duarte or Santo Domingo este.

Wrapped up 9 days in SD and won't repeat what's been said before. Shoutout to chancletas for dropping some intel for me, sorry the schedules didn't match up to hang out.

One update is that Uber was a life saver for me. The app came into play in October/Nov and you'll get to your exact destination for a fair price and not have to put up with asshole drivers in beat up cars. I noticed most of the Uber guys were in the Naco/Piatini area but you'll find a ride elsewhere too. I find the Spanish here to sound like people have marbles in their mouths, so having the app was super helpful.

Never had any safety issues and I walked around all over the place. If you've been in Latin American cities, this won't feel too much different. But again be smart. There's lots of wealth, and lots of poverty with people who look at you with dollar signs. Zona Colonial and outside area were a tad shady, and outside of a few interesting historical places didn't care for the area that much. Also, worth checking out the Sunday night bachata/merengue concerts and see the Dominican's love of plastic chairs and cups. Gazcue, at least north of avenida bolivar, is a nice and quiet residential area. But would probably get a spot in Piatini next time near my favorite cigar lounge.

As far as women, I wanted to avoid barrio chicks and met quite a few sweet girls, even girlfriend material, who had jobs, cars, own apt. They are very feminine, have good smiles, and upbeat personalities. They took care of me during my stay, but I could see hints of jealousy even on first dates which would irk me down the road. Getting a pipeline of girls is ridiculously easy and anyone with style could do damage here.

Would I come back? Meh. It's not a very livable / walkable place, car exhaust clogs the air, food is mediocre at best, prices for nice things are high, service sucks, and there's actually not much to do other than work/game. But that ass tho...

A Year In Santo Domingo (Data Sheet)

I just returned from a nine day trip to Santo Domingo. I stayed in an apartment in Naco. It was my first time there since 2009. These are my thoughts:

1. Planet Fitness recently opened a location in Naco. It's located on Tiradentes in the same mall/complex where Applebee's and Embassy Suites are located. I go to Planet Fatness every day in the United States and in no way expected that gym to be there in Naco. Hours are twenty four hours a day from Monday to Thursday. They close at 9:00 P.M. on Friday and at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday. The gym is much bigger than the U.S. locations I have seen. Before I went, I was planning on going to Body Shop in Naco, but obviously decided just to go to Planet Fitness due to the convenient hours, convenient location, and the fact that I wouldn't have to pay to use the gym.

2. If you are going for notches, are okay with average and slightly above-average quality, and are there for under a month, online dating is a must. I've never been a fan of online dating and barely even used it during this trip, but I seem to be a high quality, low quantity guy no matter where I go or what I do. Tinder, Dominican Cupid, tagged, etc.

3. I went to Jet Set three times during my trip, on New Year's, on Saturday, and on Monday. I'm completely torn about the place. The first time I went was on New Year's. The club opened up at about 1:30 A.M. and stayed open to 10:00 A.M. (yes, you read that right). The place was packed, there were tons of available girls, and the music was about 90% salsa, merengue, and bachata. I ended up leaving the club with probably the hottest girl in the place and spent much of the rest of my trip with her. I went again on Saturday. Forum members, JayMillz and fvitterbi (both solid guys) ended up joining me there, although fvitterbi left the club early. Almost all of the girls were with guys, the quality of the girls wasn't that great even if there weren't with guys, and the music was all over the place and I don't remember one bachata song being played the whole night. It was the complete opposite of just two nights before. I then went again on Monday night when I figured it would be better since Johnny Ventura and another band were playing there. No single girls that I saw and I was in and out of there in about half an hour. I would actually say it was worse on Monday than it was on Saturday when the two other forum members were there.

4. A new bar/nightclub has apparently opened on Avenida Abraham Lincoln in the space where Trio Cafe used to be. It's called 75 Grados and also has a location in La Zona Colonial. Trio Cafe was my favorite venue in the world, but the two forum members where were in Jet Set with me told me that the place isn't any good and I respect their opinion.

5. There is a place on Lincoln called La Barrica, which is decent, decent music, decent quality girls, and a fair amount of available girls. Merengue, salsa, and a pretty wide Mixx of everything else.

6. I didn't go to Avenida Venezuela at all. Never liked the place.

7. I say avoid the malecon completely. Too many scammers and annoyances. I spent some time at the casino at Jaragua maybe trying to meet some waitresses and girls gambling. I took a few hundred off the place, but other than that it was a complete waste of time.

8. Adrian Tropical is a restaurant with several locations throughout the city. Great food and horrible service. That goes for all locations.

9. Pala de Pizza in Naco may be the best chain pizza place I've ever been to.

10. Avoid going there during Christmas and New Year's if at all possible. Girls will be with their families and friends and you may have to compete for their attention, because you are completely new to them.

11. This is probably the most important part of my post and I don't know it has ever been posted here. To meet the girls who are a combination of the high end in looks and who are upper-middle or upper class, your best bet is a specialized form of restaurant game. There are certain types of restaurants which are packed with those kind of girls and you generally won't even see them in nightclubs or walking around some mall. If you do, they will probably be accompanied by someone. The way this restaurant thing works is you need to start taking a tour around 4:00 P.M. from Monday to Friday and around 1:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday. Walk around until you see a large number of quality girls alone, sit down, and proceed from there. If a place has a Miami feel to it and an outdoor section, specifically one where you can see the quality of girls there, you definitely want to walk by there during the hours I mentioned above. Interesting, the places where this works best seem to be on side streets and not on the main streets like Winston Churchill, Tiradentes, Lincoln, etc. There are at least two or three of them in the Blue Mall. La Dolciere on Calle Rafael Augosto Sanchez is another one, and quite possibly the best one. Walk by ten of those places during the hours I said, find the one with the most quality girls who appear to be available, go in sit down, order some food, send them drinks, and thank me later.

12. Overall, I don't consider the city to be great for either daygame or nightgame. When I say this, please take into consideration the fact that I went while the university students were on break, so I obviously didn't go to the universities to talk to girls. At least one guy on here was saying that one or more of the universities was really good for daygame. Other than that restaurant strategy, I found the most quality to be at Blue Mall. Agora and Acropolis really didn't have great quality as far and I really didn't see many targets during multiple trips there.

13. I went to a club called Euphoria during my last night there. The music really wasn't my kind of music (hip hop and reggeton with a little bit of merengue and bachata mixed in). There were both a lot of quality girls and a lot of fat and ugly girls. The place in general draws all walks of life, more so than any other venue I have seen there.

14. If you want American food, try Applebee's on Tiradentes where Planet Fitness is. Same as in the United States. I had lunch with Technics there.

Jet Set is a shithole. 3 years ago it was great, but that was 3 years ago. A quick hint--no high end club in the DR plays bachata/merengue bullshit unless perhaps it's some Tuesday bachata night. Santo Domingo actually has very good nightlife if you hit up the high end spots, which ironically were walking distance from you.

Euphoria is a good place to go to for top shelf barrio girls, the ones with the big rack and ass and the reason most go to the DR in the first place. As long as you don't mind being in a club full of drug dealers popping bottles though.

75 grados is crummy but it's got its perks. It's become pretty popular with barrio girls, many who've heard about it but haven't been, so it makes a good date spot. The drinks come in pitchers which you drink from, so you're getting the girl pretty fucked up. It's also packed and uncomfortably hot in there so it's convenient to end the date early and pull back. Have to thank conquistador for telling me about that place as it's become my goto spot for an online/barrio smash.

And you're absolutely right about the malecon. Don't go there unless you're looking for p4p.

I agree with you on the high-end clubs not playing bachata, but merengue? Is there any restaurant/bar/club/lounge in the Dominican Republic that doesn't play at least one merengue song? Maybe Applebee's, but I'm not even sure of that.

I went to Jet Set in 2006 and it was really good. I went back in 2009 and it was awful. This New Year's it was really great, but the other two times I went this time, it couldn't have been much worse. I'm thinking you're right about the place being horrible and New Year's was probably just a fluke.

Could you possible name some of the high end nightlife venues which were in walking distance from me? I'm not doubting you. I just think it would be helpful, not only to me, but to other posters if you could name names.

Hard Rock Cafe has moved from La Zona Colonial to Blue Mall. It was pretty decent where it was before. You could meet some quality girls sitting at the bar. Where it is now, you won't ever see it unless you go there specifically looking for it. The place was empty and I don't see it lasting long where it is.

Also, I posted on another thread not too long ago about how a lot of girls see me as a pump and dump, but a lot also see me as LTR material. I think the tide is turning so that they usually want something long term with me. I'm the same guy I've always been, so the reason I give for this is that guys worldwide are getting uglier, weaker, and poorer, so women's options are getting fewer and fewer by the minute.

Last time my friend visited here, we day gamed 20 hours in 3 days and got 15 numbers at the university and Megacentro,
such good-looking voluptuous women... It was a blast!

PM if you're around, i'm always down to help out and search out chicks
with bigger boobs and tighter punanis

Golds do, but it's expensive.

At Smart Fit you have to sign up for a monthly membership.
