Shaving Your Head

Im debating shaving my head for the summer, maybe not shiny smooth, think Jason Statham, the really close peach fuzzy look. I'm hesitant because while this would be infinitely easier to up keep and could potentially add some "bad boy" cred to my look.

Anyone here shave their head randomly?

I don't know if I have the right head shape to pull it off. What shape is your head

My family is Scandinavian, so square lol.

I got the idea after researching Mangus Samuelsson

He's got a head shape similar to mine, and while I'm sure being roughly the same size as a grizzly bear helps, he seems to pull it of well

Oh and for what its worth, I'd being keeping my beard, not sure if that would help or hurt

You just wanna look like me.

But yeah, it depends on how your head looks shaved or buzzed... That's all there is to it. You have the look or you don't. Sometimes it can depend on facial hair too.

I suppose you just have to bite the bullet and do it to see if it works for you, and if not invest in a lot of hats?

I wont lie G you did kind of help kindle this, I used to think shaved head would = put off but between you and VK its hard to argue that it at least doesnt hurt.

Just don't do it if you have a babyface.
When I shave my head people always say that I look like a baby lol.But even though I feel like shaving sometimes.
But Gmac was spot on; You have the look or you don't

Shaving Your Head

I recently shaved my head. At first I regretted it, but after a couple weeks I got used to it. I love the fact that I need to do nothing to my hair and my head is a lot cooler for the summer. If a breeze blows, it now cools my head off. While I don't think I have the perfect head shape, it's not weird either. But it's hard to really tell what shape your head is until you actually cut it. You might be surprised what's under there. My whole life I always had hair. Had a Gary Coleman fro when I was a kid, a high top fade in my middle school years, dreads from high school up to my mid 20s. Then shaved the dreads and grew a big Lenny Kravitz looking fro, then started wearing a short fro, now I'm a baldy.

I think the combination of close cut hair on top with some stubble on the face is a good one. Take a chance and find out, it's only hair. It grows back.

I shave mine every other week. I got an egg head but my hair is thick and wavy so I've been doing this since high school. Don't go bald, just use some clippers and cut it down to a half or 1.

Ha, yeah I had some natty dreadlocks that I buzzed off a few years ago, and been rocking the look ever since. I agree with GMac, some people just don't look right with a shaved head, and for me I normally have a tight, trimmed beard, and it doesn't look as good without it. I recommend buzzing it on number 2 every 2-4 weeks.

I've been razor-shaving my head for something like 3 years now. By the time I did it, a close friend of mine of which I consider his opinion told me I was born for this look, and had a 'pretty head' [Image: gay.gif]

... you get it.

I sustain a van dyke beard of sorts, adding to my look. My female friends who urged me to grow the beard (my ex didn't like it). I've been getting better results since. It's that typical badass look, no one messes with me on the street, and it works as a good contrast from my game, as I lower the badass pose by being warm and lighthearted (the look itself gives the extra edge).

But sometimes I think (it might be my insecurity speaking) that my look is not as effective on certain venues, where looking badass doesn't help much.

Oh well, I still got game... [Image: banana.gif]

So I did what I was taught as a child when it came to solving an issue of what should I do and made a list of pros and cons.

Cons : Could look terrible, will be stuck with it for a while,

Pros : Could look great, easy upkeep, cool in the summer, will prevent hairline pimples, easier to manage, "bad boy" image increased

So turns out I do have the head for it. Did a <1 buzz with a clippers and cleaned my neckline with a razor, pretty damn happy. I can say that its really obvious to me that without the beard it wouldn't look nearly as good

As a compteitive swimmer, I have shaved my head every year for the past 5 years and have seen hundreds if not thousands of people with shaved heads as well-all that I can say is that it takes trying it to see if you'll look alright. That being said, 98.9898% of all people with shaved heads fall into one of these categories:

1. The Alien- The back part of your head is HUGE, and extends further back that what's desireable...

2. The Fetus- The knob on the back of your head where the spinal cord attached to the skull is extremely visible and protruding by a decent amount.

3. Ex-Con- ...Did you just get out of prison? Depends on how gaunt the cheek bones are, show short the neck is, how round the skull is. I thought about making a "tough-guy" category when I made these (back in highschool :-P ) but it seemed like it flowed well with ex-convict look. Fortunately, I fell into this one...

Pick your poison-- from what I've experienced though, once you build up your confidence and people get used to seeing you clean shaven, the look starts to grow on people.

Good luck ;-)

I shave my head on a weekly basis with a electronic hair trimmer.

Only the real handsome guys can roll with this style

This is actually an interesting point. Without hair there's less "going on" and more focus is put on the face. Makes my beard look beast mode too lol.

I don't shave mine, I just keep it real short with an electric trimmer every week or two (setting 2). Definitely makes me look like I could be an ex-con sometimes. The first time I did it randomly in college. It doesn't look as good that short, so I took a step back.

A question for the complete hairless that's been on my mind for a while...

Yeah, having no hair and a beard/goatee gives you a much appreciated tough guy look, and it gets better if you actually are handsome (I think I can pull this... [Image: sleepy.gif]) BUT...

I dunno, it might be my impression, but it seems to be much rarer for a girl to approach a guy with such a tough look than it would to approach a guy with a softer look, with hair, hair gel and what nots...

Do any of you feel this? Do you get approached? I don't get approached (not complaining), as I -think- I might seem somewhat intimidating, but I realise that there are sets that open easily for me, but I don't really remember the last time I was opened... I get eyeballed though.

Maybe it is something cultural (I'm from Brazil), but I've seen girls opening friends of mine who have nice hair and a less meanacing look... I get stares, good ones even, but no opening...

just curious...

This was the first thing I noticed. My default flat expression with no smile now looks like I'm about to start ripping kittens in half, I"m keeping a slight smirk at all times.

@Amour

I wouldn't ever expect to be approached, ever.

Is it odd to have short hair where y'all live? Most guys keep it low down here and don't all look like felons.

I don't ever expect to be approached, I enjoy approaching far too much, but guys over here sometimes talk of places they go where approaches happen, and I always have this thing that I don't get approached because of my hairless look with beard, its just a doubt I have.

... and yeah, ripping kittens in half is fun! [Image: icon_twisted.gif]

I sometimes see myself as the exotic one in the venue because of my hairlessness. And they say that being exotic/the odd one out is good, so... I can just hope it is a plus.

I honestly don't think it matters... some women really like guys with shaved heads, some don't, but with most it isn't going to make or break you.

I've gone with both looks, and as my hair gets longer and more wild and out of control, I'm really thinking about going back.

I'd say the only hairstyle that will actually "hurt" your game, is if your hair is dirty and/or completely unkempt.

I will add, however, that I've noticed far more women wanting to "pet" my head or touch it when my hair is shaved.

So far Ive had my new shaved head pics up on POF for roughly 24 hours and already gotten three STRONG hits. I think there's something to this.

I remember being told by a few female friends (back when I actually had them) that the shaved head look is preferred because a guy with that look will always look good. He's immune to bad hair days by default.

I think there's gotta be a degree of reptilian brain in all this too. Bald or number one buzzed is more of a "warrior" haircut vs your average length hair (2"-5") for guys. Its inherently more "manly"

Lastly you guys think that part of it might be "no such thing as bad publicity" that being seen, regardless of why (within reason), is beneficial. Shaved head stands out in a crowd, gets you noticed, that initial notice gives you opportunity.

Forgive me if it seems like I'm going WAY to much into this, I'm just very amused by how beneficial this has been in such a short period.

Shit, I should hit up one of these cities where nobody keeps their hair short. Y'all should get a nice short fade. I get loooots of compliments when I do it but my hair grows so fast and I hate paying for a 3 day fade.

This is why I did a total buzz. My hair grows like a fucking weed, but I can do a full buzz myself at home in about 15 minutes.
