Link and correction to my previous post on why Playboy made their decision:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/13/busine...ayboy.html

The latest redesign, 62 years later, is more pragmatic. The magazine had already made some content safe for work, Mr. Flanders said, in order to be allowed on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, vital sources of web traffic.

In August of last year, its website dispensed with nudity. As a result, Playboy executives said, the average age of its reader dropped from 47 to just over 30, and its web traffic jumped to about 16 million from about four million unique users per month.

###

Clearly this has worked as an on line strategy (400% increase 4M to 16M+ unique viewers) and so they are milking the old cash cow for new needed virtual revenues now that hard copy circulation is diminishing.

Perhaps they could start a Playboys productions dept of 50 Shades of Mommy sex movies and sell out to Disney for billions as Hef's curtain call and legacy.

I actually started collecting playboy mags of my fave playmates as a youngster not too long ago(ordered the one with Anka Romensky yesterday). Previously, i never even "read" a playboy in my life before.

Here's something that Cristy Thom (PMOM Feb '91) said in the issue she was in that would rile up the feminists/leftists of today: "I hate being kissed up to", "Sometimes i need to be put in my place. I need someone who can push back and tell me, "that's bull" I like the sort of man who will take control."

Well, this thread certainly does invite feelings of nostalgia. The best centerfolds, the earlier ones, seem quaint almost, like innocent memories of childhood. For the modern man, they are the equivalent of Proust's petite madeleine, conjuring up forgotten moments of youth involuntarily, almost even against our wills.

For me, a rainy afternoon in the seventies, at a friend's house, discovering his (absent) father's stash of magazines. The memories come flooding back:

Women like these have been gone from the pages of Playboy for a long long time. The digital ephemera we have seen lately there, well, have been as real to me as a bad CGI monster in a movie.

Practically speaking, nothing is being lost. It hasn't been there for a while anyway.

I wish more women looked like Miriam Gonzalez. She gained weight and it all went to her tits too so still would bang. Not sure why that body type isn't in more movies. You get more giant fake tits than giant naturals. That last girl posted is impressive too.

I see this war us vs them intensifying, in the latest months. The so called left is getting more aggressive to push their agenda. Soon, they'll be no more ads with sexy women on them as its sexist.

There's no rational reason this should be on my mind like it, but here we are. I think a lot of us have the same nostalgia for Playboy. For many of us, it rustled that first urge in us of "yes, I must have this woman for myself" even if at the age of 10-12-14 or whatever we didn't fully comprehend it.

There was something to folding out that centerfold that was illicitly exciting as a teen. Yet compared to what is out there now, a Playmate seems relatively "safe". I for one would worry about my 10 year old son finding pornhub and warping his mind. We know the studies about how high speed internet plus porn rewires the brain. A dozen photos in a magazine stirred my groin as a 15 year old that unlimited porn today cannot.

Some have mentioned the "girl next door" nature of Playboy as part of its appeal. I fully agree. So I submit my Playmate dream from back in the day. Brooke Berry was in the Girls of the Pac 10 issue and 6 months or so later was a Playmate.

The fact is that some of us do like images in a magazine. If I could get them to look that good with my printer, I would print them out.

Barbi Benton was probably the most famous from the 1970's:

Here's another from the 1970's. You may remember Janice Pennington from her modeling days on Price is Right. She was on the show from its debut until 2001:

Are they doing the same thing with the international versions of Playboy? It's all over the world.

I think that is the same girl I posted, Marilyn Lange, from a different angle.

We are forgetting probably the best playmate of all time. There were playmates with bigger boobs, or prettier faces, or sexier looks, but no one seemed to actually live on the page like Dorothy Stratten.

A picture of her was like virtual reality before its time, it was almost as if you were touching her when you looked at her picture, visually pheromonic:

Does anybody remember that scene in Tremors 2 where the protagonist admits to the female lead that he had her centrefold on his wall for 5 years - and then she playfully goes into the pose?

Alluring, feminine, welcoming: "I know you boys are working hard ploughing the fields/fighting the war/drilling that oil - when you come home I'm going to have a tall glass of iced tea for y'all!"

I remember one of the old, Italian suit-shops in my neighbourhood used to have a stack of playboys in the washroom; I wonder if that place is still around?

Also, this post didn't get enough attention:

Interesting Tech Crunch take on why Playboy made this decision...

Basically on today's Internet "Content is King" and the two king makers Google and Apple (not to mention Amazon) are NOT so called "Porn" friendly - answering to diverse Corporate Boards - they mention the Disneyfication of major "New" media:

http://techcrunch.com/2015/10/12/a-new-m...the-nudes/

I can't find the link but one report indicated the online version of Playboy saw circulation increase to some 4 Million+ readers/followers when they dropped the NSFW nudes... tells you how much productive work is getting done in Corporate America... between Fan Duel, Draft Kings and now a Playboy transformed into a lingerie and yoga pants catalog...

Plus I never really identified with being a Playboy as such - i was much more into Bob Guccione's Penthouse - whatever happened to his empire?

Interesting NYT take on the current trends in "Pornography"

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/19/busine....html?_r=0

These "Arthouse Porn" mags mentioned in NYT have circulations less than the average puppy or kitten video on YouTube... and YouTube being corporate ban hammers "Porn" as soon as it is reported.

Stepping out of the trees to look at the forest I find most Playboy and Penthouse pics about as Pornographic as Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" type paintings.

In my mind Porn is really that cheesy scripted video of even more cheesy beezies getting skewered and made water tight by various walking hardons all worried if they will pass their next HIV test - Playboy, Penthouse and Hustler even rarely ever went there but are still referred to as Porn - Imagine what a 50 Shades of Fan mag would show - would make the OC Cal Porn mills look tame by comparison.

In chaos therein lies opportunity...

The Disneyfication: for those who missed it, YouTube has started disabling ad revenue on any video covering a controversial topic. Any video - not just Right Wing Hate Speech. You can make the exact same analysis CNN did the night before, without showing any graphic images, but because you're talking about the Middle East it's not considered "Advertiser Friendly" - which means, some SJW sensible might complain to Ford that they found your description of events triggering, and Ford doesn't want to deal with the complaints.

Anonymous Bosch is nailing it with the infantilization - and remember: the prudery of the Victorian era, where showing an ankle was considered shocking and indecent, was also the era of wife swapping and child prostitutes. Does any of this sound familiar?

I was watching a documentary recently on the 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' movies, and there's a scene where the actress who played the Blonde Nurse in 'Dream Warriors' - now almost 30 years older, her beauty diminished - hears that guys who were teenage boys at the time are all saying how seeing her naked was a defining experience for them.

She's both flattered, and touched. It's hugely-feminine.

Porn stars are still the same way, but their fans are far more pathetic, and it's obviously forced... almost a misplaced mothering instinct.

Janet Lupo was a Playmate in 1975. 100 percent natural. They don't make 'em like this anymore. Wait, maybe they do, but they don't show up in Playboy.

Those women are rare, but I think the main reason why they don't appear in main magazines anymore is due to the fact that those natural big boob women have an utterly feminine body type and face that runs counter to what is the goal today:

That's why they push pro athletes so much. No man wanted to see a female runner in the 1960s or 70s in Playboy. Most of the time their bodies are not great examples of femininity.

The Playboy owner would probably love to go those ways - either one is fine:

or

Anything sane is not promoted. If only men would buy crap like that, then they would already have it.

^^^^^^

You're right. No one at the mags wants bodies like Janet Lupo's anymore. Lupo's curves connote not just femininity, but the maternal state. And she did become a parent, eventually.

Meanwhile, runners and fat lards are more like variations on the male body: Muscle and bulk. Perfect for the gay men and "childfree" wenches that run the magazines.

It's not a stereotype. I've worked with such people. While not bad to deal with one-on-one (in fact some of the women are pretty hot), the agenda they push is lethal to the masses.

That said, I just gave you all the great Janet Lupo, and you gave me the Full Beauty Project in response. What kind of an exchange is that? This is like cooking the best Christmas dinner ever and getting coal in your stocking the next morning. Let's get with it Zelcorpion -- I want some hot, shapely boobs in return and quick.

Yeah - I felt a slight hesitation to post the fattie and spoil the thread - here some eye cleanser:

Barbi Benton - no wonder she was Hugh Hafner's love and favorite for a decade or more.

Also the pictures exude femininity, girliness, happiness for being a woman. Women in magazines at least have lost that look.

Instead they try to pose as strong independent ballbusters in a vein attempt of copying men or they give you a dead eyed sex-vamp stare. Yes - we know that you women may sometimes like that in men, but we don't like it with girls at all. All women would instantly gain half a point if they just focused on being girly, happy, radiant and looking up at a man with open heart.
