Crypto: Shibuya, among the most intense places in Tokyo, is nothing to shake a stick at, man. And it is just a short straight shot down Roppongi-dori to Nishi-Azabu Crossing and then Roppongi.

More on Shibuya later, but here is your first fleeting introduction to the streets, the bars and clubs, the love hotels, the lovers and killers of psychedelic Shibuya --

I've said it before in the Bang Japan thread, but the Japanese guys have dubbed Shibuya the "nanpa mecca" (pickup mecca) of Japan.

Shibuya is full of 3 or 4 kinds of scouts. Fuuzoku scouts, model scouts, porn scouts, host club scouts, and regular nanpa dudes.

Porn scouts in Shibuya have supposedly diminished since a law was passed limiting their recruiting.

So when you talk to girls in Shibuya you will get iced out a lot of times.

Daygaming is different, because you have to sometimes talk to a walking brick wall for 5 minutes before you make her crack a smile or something.

For daygaming on the street/subway or wherever, all you need is "Do you speak English?" Either transition to Japanese if you know it or continue in English.

Don't expect to get far in English though. And be prepared to be persistant and not bail if she doesn't acknowledge your existance.

Other area such as Roppongi are no where near as bad for daygaming. I actually prefered it more than Shibuya.

Thanks, Tokyo Joe and memcpy.

Yeah, I read the other thread and have heard about the nanpa in Shibuya, so maybe I'll try a bit of day game over there when I'm off work and if I get sick of the scene, take a trip over to Roppongi and try my luck over there. Looking forward to the trip, first time to Asia.

Having friends come to visit for a week or two and always asking what they should do, this will be the first link I send to them before they visit from now on.

Good datasheet and very informative as it should be for a city like Tokyo.
I wish I had this info when I was there.

I remember how annoyed I was when I couldn't find a ATM working my cards in the middle of the night. Couldn't believe my ears when I was told I have to go to a post office to withdraw.

Anyways, gotta love Tokyo and Japan. Amazing place.
I hope I'll be visiting again.
Preferably in summer time.

Hi Tokyo Joe,

I'm also debating on staying at Shibuya vs Roppongi. I'll be staying in Tokyo for 2 weeks in December. I was planning on doing about 75% day game and 25% night game.

After reading about the mall 109, I thought maybe I would have better luck with day gaming at Shibuya.

I don't speak any Japanese.

What do you think would be better for me? Maybe I should do a week in Shibuya and a week in Roppongi. My budget is pretty solid. I can spend about 100 u.s.d. on lodging a day. I'm seeing places that are about a 5 minute walk to Shibuya station in that range on air nb.

Thanks

Note: I noticed most of the listings on airnb don't have a gym. Is it hard to get a weekly membership at gyms around there?

I'll be visiting Tokyo for the first time between December 29th, and January 11th. I still haven't decided where I'll be staying, but I'll figure that out later. I also expect to have a basic, but functional level of Japanese by then

If any of you guys will be there on those dates and wants to meet up, let me know.

Hey duder, If you're just starting to learn Japanese. I suggest you go ahead and get Rosetta Stone Japanese Lvl 1-3. You would be able to finish all levels by the time you leave if you work at it everyday. Youll have a decent working vocab that will be usueful while there temporarily. Also try japanesepod 101 for while you're driving/commuting. Most importantly learn Hiragana and Katakana immediately. If you want to dabble in Kanji try WaniKani. (Although for your purpose I would focus on speaking and building vocab for now)

I'll be there for a couple weeks at the beginning of November. Anyone looking to meetup and talk game or have a beer, PM me.

Thanks for the tips
I'm currently learning japanese with pimsleur's japanese program lv 1-3. I'll check out Rosetta Stone and see if the switch is worth it. I've also memorized the hiragana and katakana , but still can't understand pretty much anything I read because of my limited vocabulary, and the fact that I can't read kanji.

Btw, have you guys ever tried those cheap capsule hotels? Are they worth it at all for a 14 day stay?

Capsule hotels are OK for a night or two but to be honest if you're going that route you might as well go for a hostel. In the end both options have generally bad logistics for pulling.

A couple of weeks ago I had the distinct pleasure of joining Tokyo Joe, Laner, and dreambig for an excellent night out which saw the sun come up.

A note on these three members - all are excellent men with plenty going on in their lives, extremely personable, intelligent, and I certainly look forward to spending more time with them when our paths cross again.

After meeting Tokyo Joe at Roosh's speech in New York, I departed with the note that I would be in Tokyo come the fall. True to his word, Tokyo Joe cleared out his schedule hang out for what turned out to be an epic night in Tokyo. Laner and dreambig were also free that evening for the entire night and it was excellent to spend quality time over both dinner and drinks with a few members.

Tokyo Joe arranged the beginning of our evening at one of his preferred Izakaya's in Akasaka , the name of which I'll leave off the forum as to protect his privacy a bit, but mostly because I really don't know the name of the place anyway. We enjoyed a dizzying array of fish, meats, noodles, and of course beer and sake. I was convinced I didn't like rice wine until I sipped some high end Japanese sake. Before we knew it, we had sat for dinner for four hours and it was time to hit up Roppongi.

We checked out Geronimo, a shot bar in Roppongi for a bit. Laner, TJ, and dreambig are all Japan vets and say it's a hit-or-miss for girls looking for fun. I believe all have pulled from there in the past. A drink in there didn't produce any quality talent so we were off to the next bar.

We checked out R2 next. It was crowded but not overpacked with decent ratios. In a couple of conversations I had with girls, I sniffed suspicion that some girls are on the clock here. I got into conversation with a Mongolian girl, who while I approached her, was far too receptive to anything I said in conversation. I asked her flat out if she was a good girl, to which she kind of shrugged her shoulders. I would absolutely head back to this place, but just understand you may have to do some sorting between good girls and working ones. I found the talent overall to be pretty decent, if a bit older - think late 20's-early 30's. We slammed back a few drinks here to keep the momentum going.

Next we crossed the street to Feria, which as it is billed is a five story fun-house of partying. I really liked this place as each floor has it's own very distinct vibe. No matter your style of game, there is an area suited to you in this place with girls who are down for fun. Dreambig took off at this point and the night started to get hazy as we were on a solid seven hours of drinking at this point. I remember kissing a couple of Japanese girls here and making moves to get one home, but I don't quite remember. Perhaps Laner or TJ can chime in on that. I do recall Laner eventually leaving, leaving myself and TJ. We were out on the street in front of Feria when I think TJ and I started prompting drunk and horny girls that they would only get us for the night if they first joined us at Tsukiji Fish Market for the morning opening.

With no girls in tow and not a care in the world we cabbed over to Daiwa Sushi. A shorter than expected line allowed us to enjoy ten piece Omakase in one of the world's premier sushi dens. There is sushi, and then there is Daiwa. Good luck finding anything like it on the rest of the planet. Worth every second of the wait. Of course a beer joined us for this meal as well.

By now it was pushing 8AM with the sun fully up and a bustling Saturday morning in bloom in Tokyo. Shattered, I stumbled out of the cab and somehow got my key in my apartment door.

I woke the next day at 4PM with perhaps the worst hangover of my life. Tokyo Joe noted he did the same at about 6.

I certainly will never forget the hangover, but in some awful way, it was all worth it.

As a side note, Tokyo is epic. This was my first experience in Tokyo, and note I've chosen the word experience very carefully, but it was unbelievable. I've been to every modern megacity in the world, but Tokyo crushes even the likes of London, NYC, and Hong Kong. There is truly nothing like it. Fashion, food, chaos, cleanliness, order, beauty, nature, modernity all smashed into one.

There is Japan, and then there is everywhere else in the world. I will be back.

Good recap on the night! But like you, it was pretty hazy at points.

I wish I could have joined you guys for sushi, but I had that damn flight to Taipei to catch. At one point, sitting in Haneda, the smell of all night partying on me and no sleep I actually contemplated checking into a crazy house. Just fucking take me away! Fuck that was painful.

R2 was dope for me, I ended up meeting up with that tall, sexy Belorussian chick a couple nights ago in Tokyo. If nothing changes, I think that place might be my fishbowl in Tokyo, it was pure fire for me. But while the foreign chicks were money, the Japanese chicks were under par, for Tokyo. For guys looking for some variety, this is your place. I even found my 9.9, that Russian chick that kept getting taken from me by those big Russkies every time we swooped in to talk together. Damn, that chick was pure smoke and was into it. She like me bad and bold.

A lot of the attention I have been getting from girls here has been due to the Rugby World Cup and the Japanese win over the Boks. It is huge news here, and girls are now obsessed with big guys. Perfect timing. Girls have been asking to touch me, asking me if I play Rugby, etc. I will be back in December, so I hope the chicks are still digging the barrel chested bearded men.

Also, a big public thank you to Tokyo Joe for his hospitality, knowledge and generosity here in Tokyo. We had some good times, my friend, I look forward to many more. Also, good to finally meet MaleDefined and Dreambig, two solid fellas who I look forward to crossing paths with again.

Once again, RVF delivers with quality.

PS- TJ, that smokeshow I brought to drink champagne with us is all yours. Smash the bejeezus out of her, for the love of God you have to, but please get pics of that incredible body for me.

I did my homework before I arrived and had heard about that, but I said to myself "Ah, come on, how bad can it be?".
I had to learn the hard way, especially without being able to speak Japanese. Brutal stuff, made me realize my game and frustration tolerance had suffered a lot while living in China.

This. I was travelling with a maestro debit card, and it worked just fine in China and Korea. Japan, not so much. It was basically useless, even at the post offices or 7/11 it didn´t work. And for some reason most ATMs wouldn´t accept my VISA credit card either. Luckily I was travelling with friends who could pay for me, but without them I would have been fucked.

Total noob here but have been lurking for some time now. I am planning a trip over to Tokyo and Bangkok in January for my birthday. I hope by then there are some people in town willing to show a new guy around a bit. It sounds like I should keep the beard and do some fashion research in the meantime after reading a few other threads. Luckily I fly for next to nothing so I can come back often since I know I will become addicted if its half as good as this thread.

I'm kind of a noob to the whole Roppongi thing. I have heard a lot of hype about GasPanic, I take it that it is just that, and Feria is better for what I (and anyone else on this forum) would want?

Yeah man, if you have even a small amount of fashion sense it will set you apart from other gaijin by miles. I can't remember just how different an effect of dressing/trimming up had when I went out with the same friend on different occasions. The attention I pulled passively when properly groomed and dressed vs a casual attempt was staggeringly different.

GasPanic was great for easy pickups like 10 years ago. Nobody hypes it up these days.

Feria is the best of many bad choices on Fri/Sat night.

^^ Ratios are pretty bad those nights. Friday is probably the worst though because of all the drunk salarymen who go directly from izakaya to club.

Weekdays tend to be better in my experience, but it's no walk in the park on any night.

Tokyo Joe is probably too classy for these two Roppongi venues, but they are worth a shot on otherwise dead weeknights.

Jumanji 55

It's trashy, but it is one of the few clubs that draws a crowd every night. If you get lucky you can pull some university students. They are my bread and butter in Japan as you can find some attractive but still relatively inexperienced girls with free time on their hands. Easier to pull these types too. You might be their first foreigner.

Otherwise, the rest of the chicks are mostly off-duty hostesses and other low-class characters (but not hookers) waiting for the first train. But hey, you're not going to find high-flying professional women out on a Tuesday night at 3am are you? [Image: smile.gif] These types tend to be difficult to pull as they have seen it all before. Cover is 1,500 yen with two drinks. Quite busy with university J-guys on Thursdays. The secret seems to have gotten out.

Greenland

More of a pre-drinking place, but I have had some fun here. It's just down the road from Jumanji (and the same ownership too). In fact, the two clubs are so close to each other that you can bounce from one to the other over the course of the night. The bouncers stamp your arm so you can re-enter whenever you please. The staff outside are Nigerians but don't worry, these guys are legit and friendly. No ripoffs going on at Greenland. Entry is 1,000 yen.

I have pulled a lot of girls from Jumanji, far less from Greenland. Back in 2011-2013, I used to go out multiple times during the week, get back at 5am (hopefully with a girl) bang and kick her out before sleeping 3 hours and going straight to work. With a big grin on my face.

These two bars are very hit and miss, but they seem to be good in the summer for some reason. Don't go to either of these places on the weekend or during public holidays. The ratio will be 90% men and you won't be able to walk! You've been warned!

PM me for accommodation options in Bangkok.

Not even close. Tokyo and Manila are different worlds, Tokyo 10 years ago was...not that different from now. Even then, word was GasPanic was over. Old guys will tell you that foreigners cleaned up in Japan in the 70s-90s - if that is true, and it's hard to tell because of the rose-coloured glasses effect - it was over by 2000.

I hear this so often. It really makes a guy wonder, pulling now in Japan isn't terribly hard. I always have about 3-4 girls on rotation and whenever one gets a bf or just drops off for whatever reason they're replaced easily within a week or two.

The white man back in the day, if he had any semblance of game must have literally been drowning in girls. If anything I would wager it would almost become a pain just to turn down all the ones when you didn't have time to spend.
