Wesleyan SJWs Move to Censor Disssenting Speech

I know nobody will be surprised that this is occurring at a liberal university, but it appears to be an overreach of epic proportions.

Quote:Quote:

The student government at Wesleyan University has received a petition to revoke funding of the campus newspaper after it printed an opinion piece from a student that criticized aspects of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Quote:Quote:

Wesleyan Argus contributor wrote that he questions whether Black Lives Matter is achieving positive results.

Yes, this contributor stated the obvious, but that's dissent and it must be silenced!

Quote:Quote:

In response, students submitted a petition that, according to the Argus, demands that the student government revoke the paper's funding, that the Argus and other student publications undergo social justice and diversity training, and that the paper create print space dedicated to marginalized voices.

The paper must cease to be printed! The dissenters must be re-educated!

An editor-in-chief apologized for the dissent:

Quote:Quote:

"And we apologized for causing members of the community such deep pain, and not publishing the article with a dissenting opinion."

Good point. Please DO publish dissenting opinions with ALL your editorials.

Quote:Quote:

Some students not only have expressed their disagreement with the op-ed but have demanded apologies, a retraction and have even harassed the author and the newspaper's editors. Some are claiming that the op-ed was less speech than action: it caused harm and made people of color feel unsafe.

So... what happens if the 'student government' ignores the petition? Bomb-threats?
