Nail fungus

It seems most get nail fungus - also called onychomycosis . It is very difficult to get rid of. I had toe nail fungus for years. I tried everything but could not get rid of it. Then once my doctor prescribed to me Lamisil tablets for another unrelated matter. After some months all the nail fungi was gone - and I had back the bright while nails. However, after some time the nail fungus often returns. And I did get it back - but luckily this time on the small outside toenails that is not as visible. And I also got it on one of my fingernails - which bothers me more.

Anyone get nail fungus and successfully got rid of it? Lamisil has some side effects on the liver. I don't think I will go back to using it again.

You could try toe socks to separate the toes as well which would prevent spreading.

Your not supposed to stay on one type of antifungal either. You have to switch it up.

I've never had to deal with nail fungus but funny this topic came up as I just did a Fiverr gig for a guy the other day who was promoting a natural remedy video. I can't seem to find his video at the moment but if I recall it was a simple recipe of cornmeal and and something else.

I've heard many other remedies though as well from listerine to vicks vapor rub to vinegar.

I have nail fungus on a few toes at the moment. My doctor said we should wait until it's more advanced some time next year before I try anti-fungal medication - not entirely sure why, but since it apparently needs to be checked up on during the ~3 months course due to potential liver risks, and I'll be traveling in a couple of months, I guess I'll wait.

I'm currently trying a few of the many home remedies. Doing daily foot baths with seasalt and baking soda.
As always I'm highly skeptical about all the glowing praise I read on the internet about how x fixed y in a few days or weeks, or made them feel like Superman. First example refers to some people claiming a few days of baking soda/vinegar/tea tree oil/something else treatments have turned their yellow nails shiny white, the second to the zinc thread on this forum, where it's apparently a wonder "drug" for some people (I've started taking zinc supplement myself three or four weeks ago, if it's doing anything positive it's definitely so marginal that I'm not actively feeling it. But then I was already feeling pretty damn good, so maybe it's different if your health, your mood or your stress levels are already down the crapper).

I've heard of a lot of guys starting to wear bamboo socks. It sounds strange but when they break the fibers down they're supposedly more comfortable and better for your feet. Obviously a bit more expensive but maybe worth looking into.

We always knew bamboo as a hard, woody plant that was green and good for the environment, but it could also be made into ultra-soft clothing, bedding, and bath goods that rivaled the softness of cashmere and silk. Bamboo is 3 degrees cooler than cotton and wicks moisture away from your body. It even helps repel odors and allergens. We didn’t waste time in developing an entire line of bamboo products that would keep you as soft and cool as the Caribbean breeze on a hot summer day.

I do/did have toe nail fungus, both big toes and right index toe. I have to wear formal shoes for 10-12 hour each day and it's warm and humid in there which makes it a perfect combination for fungi to grow. Fungi on big toes are the worst.
Years ago, my left foot big toe nail started thickening and developed a crease right in the middle and the two sides would split apart by themselves when cutting the nail. When the right foot big toe started thickening too, I decided to do something about it. Did some research and before starting any pill, thought I'd try the over the counter anti-fungal liquids. Went for Fungi Cure and after 2.5 years of using it managed to get rid of the fungus on the right toe. I've been fungus free on that since almost a year now. Still using the anti-fungal on the left toe (3 1-4 years and counting) and it would appear that fungus is gone but just to be sure I'll make it 3.5 years and see what happens after. Also, past spring, the right index toe started separating from the bed underneath so decided to treat that too. Nail became black, totally detached and fell off and new nail started coming out. New nail is 100% out now and looks pretty healthy. I've also used Vicks Vapo Rub to treat foot ringworm and have been currently doubling with that on the nail liquid. I realize it's a long run treatment but on the other hand it only takes about 20 sec twice a day to apply the liquid. [/align]

Why don't you guys just go to the foot doctor and have them laser it off? There's billboards for this all over here and everyone says it works painlessly.

If they don't have a laser they're lame cheap-asses find a better one.
