The men’s right movement at University of Toronto is to blame for recent threats targeting women on campus, feminists charged Monday.

CUPE 3902’s Women’s Caucus organized a rally at Spadina and Bloor after messages threatening to kill feminists and women were left in the comments sections of BlogTO articles in June and earlier this month.

About 200 union members, women and male allies marched through the streets chanting slogans including: “We are UofT, we fight against misogyny.”

Coun. Kristyn Wong-Tam and NDP candidate Jennifer Hollett were among those who gave speeches to the crowd.

Feminist Ashleigh Ingle also spoke, talking about how men’s groups have changed campus in the past three years. Tensions have run high, she said, and feminists who’ve protested the groups have received death and rape threats.

“These threats that we’re here to stand up against today, they didn’t come out of nowhere,” she said. “They are supported by an environment that is hostile and backwards and encouraged by these men’s rights misogynists on our campus.

“Though they hide behind a thin veneer of real issues, just below the surface is a vile and vicious misogyny,” she continued. “Their goal is to blame all of the issues of people in society on feminism and a component of that is to threaten and harass feminists into silence.”

Justin Trottier, a founder of the men’s issues club at UofT and the associated Canadian Association for Equality, called the online threats “deplorable.”

“We condemn in the strongest words any threats of violence or intimidation as an organization that’s active on campus and exists to promote free exchange of dialogue,” he said.

He denied either organization is a “men’s rights” group or “anti-feminist.”

“We would like to see the temperature turn down a little bit, and for people to engage in positive productive, constructive dialogue,” he said. “It was never the goal to create a war or a gender war.”

Cathy Young, the well known journalist and “equity feminist,” will speak at the University of Toronto on Thursday, September 24th and in Ottawa on Friday, September 25th, at the event “The Politics of Gender and Victimhood,” planned weeks ago by the UTMIAS and sponsored by CAFE.

Try to attend this event and support it. No doubt there is likely going to be some feminist rally to stop it from happening.

Vox Day was right. They always double down.

Typical smear attempt where they try to attribute anonymous comments to the entirity of the MRM.

Meanwhile I guarantee some of these pearl-clutchers were responsible for pulling the fire alarms at some of the previous mens rights talks on the UoT campus.

The threats were made on a city blog that anybody can sign up for, it is barley above a random YouTube comment.

The fact that the comment said silly shit like "I'm going to go rent and buy guns from gangs" didn't relay the level of trolling invovled. The Police have not taken it seriously but Campuses have been on "high alert" since this comment was made. My school sent out a mass email and has supposedly stationed more security guards on campus.

Why wouldn't this criminal, if so serious...you know... send a letter or a memo to the school.

But then also why would the supposed criminal make thier intentions known?... Logically speaking of course.

Toronto is femenist central. With these women moaning like kids.

These women blame "men's rights" because these threats were as random and with nothing concrete. It was high level trolling but nothing more as what can you scrape from a random blog comment and it has turned into a animal bigger then what it is.

Go look at the comments on any article about Chinese buying Canadian real estate and then not tell me it isn't as inflammatory. Where is the press for that "hate speech"?

biggest takeaway from this article is the organizing group CUPE 3902’s Women’s Caucus

CUPE stands for Canadian Union of Public Employees. This same union also had a big float in the gay pride parade. If I were a public sector employee in Canada I would be flipping my shit over seeing that this is how the union is spending my dues.

This endless playing the victim card nonsense is wearing thin. I feel like the response to these morons should be "if we wanted you dead you wouldn't be whining about shit some random internet troll said right now."

If any of those threats were even slightly credible and not just completely manufactured or throwaway comments from trolls these strong empowered womyn would be hiding behind male cops they hate and their beta limp-wristed fag supporters would be pissing themselves.

Another false flag op. Just to get attention on their rally.

Anita Sarkeesian anybody ? Took a play out of the feminist cook book. (As if they cook)

They'll stoop to any low possible and play that card HARD.

And yet people are still asking, "Seriously, what is wrong with Toronto?"

It should be paired up with other stupid questions:

There is nothing really wrong with TO -- it is just ano0ther city. However all you need is a handful of dedicated, focused, determined persons to change or greatly influence an entire culture. That is what has happened and is happening in TO. For some reasons a small group of sjws and feminists -- including gays - got together - and changed the TO culture. TO continues to produce young feminist and sjw leaders -- as the machinery has been put in place. Until that machinery is not challenged or dismantled - TO will keep going in its feminist direction. Roosh hit that machinery while he was here to some extent.

They make up death threats against themselves, same as how they constantly fantasize about "creepy guys" always hitting on their ugly fat arses.

CAFE’s Cathy Young Event changes venue as panic sweeps University of Toronto

September 21, 2015 By Act for AVfM —1 Comment

NEW VENUE FOR CATHY YOUNG TORONTO EVENT
InterContinental Toronto Yorkville
220 Bloor Street West Toronto Ontario M5S 1T8

“The Politics of Gender and Victimhood” will now take place at the InterContinental Toronto Yorkville Hotel across from the University of Toronto at Bloor St W and University, near to the subway.

The move follows an intense beginning to the new school year. Onlinethreats targeting feminists and demonstrations in response have combined to generate an atmosphere of panic on campus.

A full statement explaining our reason for the move and our response to recent events can be found here.

The new venue for Cathy Young is bigger and more accessible – but our men’s issues events need to happen at the University.

The U of T administration has promised that once the current, extraordinary situation passes, all future events will return to campus. And we intend to hold them to that.

Help us preserve Canadian universities as places where critical debate can still take place on gender issues.

Donate $50 and join us for a special intimate reception with Cathy Young following the event.

or click here to contribute to our campus outreach efforts.

Any donation you make this week will be used for future University events to bring in speakers who raise critical debates and pose challenging questions about men’s health, fatherlessness, the war on boys and campus gender politics.

Together we will recommit and expand our work on campus.

Justin Trottier

Executive Director, CAFE

Ashleigh Ingle let some truth slip out by accident a few years ago. When discussing how to make radicial feminism more popular she said that they are, "Gonna need to find a way to make arguments that aren't, like, lies or disingenuous".

Also, the SIF is strong in this one.

A few months ago Imgur made some unpopular decisions then, when people became irate, started making up death threats to shame users into submission. People were banned for asking for proof of these threats.

Claiming death threats is a new version of calling someone a racist to shut them up.
