If South Park had NOT satirized Trump, I would have been suspicious.

Yeah, just saw it. Loved it. Fan of Trump or not, you can't deny his rhetoric exposes him to exactly this kind of satire.

And while the show's message certainly wasn't anti-immigration, they did touch on the concept of cultural conflict. They portray Garrison's reaction as extreme and bigoted, but it's still a reaction to immigrant kids disrupting his classroom with a rather hilariously disguised reference to Islam's prayer customs. Garrison was also forced to take night classes to learn a new language to accommodate those new students.

Jenner's traffic accidents were a 'nice' touch.

Also, it's clear there'll be continual themes through the whole season. So it may well be, that all this madness so far builds up to other things.

I thought they were referencing him when Obama brought in Kyle to recognize his bravery for saying Caitlyn Jenner is a hero.

I keep hoping that Ahmed will make a fashion statement by wearing his "digital clock" around his neck like RUN DMC

Although in Ahmed's case I suppose it would look more like this:

Frankly Southpark is mainstream propaganda to the utmost. It's not directed against the PC culture at all.

Watched the recent episode as well with Caitlyn Jenner. Yes they point towards the craziness of praising a mentally disturbed person who drives over women with his car.

But aside from that they bow to the imperative:

+ The SJWs are manly tall muscular college dudes who makes SJWs appear actually somewhat strong and cool
+ Even the crowd in Southpark starts accepting PC talk in the end
+ in the new episode they make fun of Trump, of wanting to protect your country's culture, of wanting to erect a wall
+ then in the end they rape and kill Trump

Of course they do it in a satirical manner showing the masses to behave "irrationally". That means that the viewpoint the consumer has to arrive on is that they are idiots and immigration is good and well - also that Trump is a joke and not a real candidate. THAT IS THE REAL MESSAGE!

So Southpark is not anti-SJWs - they are for it.

The first episode was doing great, especially the "sjw's are no different from the frat bullies they despise" metaphor, but the ending was just, meh.

I am sure this is some part of a season long story arc, but I feel that up until the ending it was one of the best episodes of the series, but the ending didn't really nail it. The cake line was ok but that's it.

Curious to see where it's heading.

They take the piss out of everyone. Getting pissed off that South park mocked a view you hold is a trait very common amongst SJWs.

Zelcorpion, while I always look forward to hearing your unique perspective on threads, you are completely missing the mark here. You are reading into something that is simply not there.

It is possible to be both anti-Trump and anti-SJW. I didn't agree with them making fun of Trump but it was still funny. That's what they do, make fun of anything and everything.

Regarding the PC bros, read my post earlier in the thread.

Southpark might generally be a tad on the left, but they're definitely not PC or SJW.

If anyone was to create a vague list of Southpark beliefs it would be
1. Religions make people do stupid things
2. Mormonism is a stupid religion, but its adherents can be nice
3. Trannies have fake genitalia
4. Kids will be kids
5. Gay-to-straight bootcamps are bad
6. Kanye is a gay fish
7. Islam should be insulted
8. Scientology should definitely be insulted

If anything, I'm realizing religion is the only thing that they consistently harp on. Oh and Jews.

Yes - they are making fun of SJWs and are certainly not pulling punches on Caitlin Jenner. But still I am of the opinion that the overall message of the SJWs isn't that bad. Turning them into frat boys is not such an extremely "hurtful" message. It is barely so even to SJWs, since they for once are the cool tall muscular sporty guys. SJWs achieve their aims via petitions and demonstrations getting the totalitarian state to crack down on you or your company/college to fire you.

Also it is clear that their message in the second episode is anti-Trump, pro-immigration, pro-unrestricted-there-are-no-borders immigration.

Propaganda has gotten better in recent years - it's got even sufficiently solid so that guys here even did not see it in Mad Max Furiosa and movies like Trainwreck.

We will see how the PC talk theme develops. My take is that they will poke plenty of fun at the most crazy aspects and then in the end turn it around to a "balanced" perception of 60% of their feminist/SJW points being actually not bad.

Besides - I am making no claims of being 100% right all the time - the creators may decide to come down hard on SJWs at Southpark. They are certainly aware of all their lingo. Personally I doubt it - the end message must at least "stretch" the perceptions of the viewer - meaning let them accept a more progressive mental point of origin than before.

Trump's rhetoric has been extremely harsh towards illegals, and careless about Mexicans in general. It's basically impossible to deny that he has made them the targets, and made them the scapegoats. His message is "we round them up and deport them! simple as that". How about this: Round up every business owner who is knowingly hiring illegals, and fuck THEM to death. I notice Trump hasn't really harped on the business-owners doing the illegal hiring. That doesn't inspire the nationalistic sentiment in the same way, does it? Doesn't play on your emotions the same way that blaming the Mexicans for all our problems does.

I am against mass immigration. I am in favor of protecting America from its effects, both economic and cultural. I don't want to send my kids to bilingual schools. I don't want the values in the constitution to be lost due to an influx of people who don't understand our history. Trump is the only candidate that seems to want to do anything about that.

But, he is using balls-out nationalist rhetoric to promote that message. He's advocating extreme policies that are more about pushing people around and making things happen than making sure the real problems are solved. Whether he'll actually follow through with those policies I have no idea, but in the meantime that kind of extreme rhetoric is always going to be subject to satire and criticism.

What Trey and Matt may not get is that it's the climate of national discourse itself that has allowed Trump to thrive. There were hints that they do get this, given the what Kyle tries say a couple of times before getting shut down. The left is as much to blame for Trump's ascendance as anyone else. They're the ones who have promoted the culture of identity politics. They're the ones who have alienated all of the rational moderates by shrieking "raciss" at everything. They're the ones who double-down and lie and attack everything. Someone like Trump is the best, perhaps only way to fight back against that shit.

What Trey and Matt also don't seem to get is the question of alternatives to Trump. So they don't like Trump-- who do they like? Every candidate on both sides are lying liars. They're partisan and pander to special interests and the media. I mean seriously, BUSH vs CLINTON in 2016?

I would love to see South Park take that angle. But in the meantime, Trump is crazy over-the-top and their satire of his rhetoric was completely on-point.

Quote:Quote:

+ then in the end they rape and kill Trump

Yeah, so they hate him as a candidate. Lots of people do. Best to accept that rather than do the typical leftoid thing of thinking everything is black and white and anyone who doesn't agree with me must be either insane or be the enemy .

They did want to send the message that Trump isn't a real candidate, that's true. Whether they're "on message" or that's what they sincerely believe is hard to tell. Unlike most of the media I'm willing to give Matt and Trey some leeway here.

As for masses behaving irrationally... masses do behave irrationally.

Donald Trump is this week's episode: http://southpark.cc.com/blog/2015/09/21/...eview-clip

I watched it - the creators didn't seem to like Trump at all. Kind of surprising after last week's episode bashing political correctness.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...dered.html

Which makes wonder - do they seriously want more Clinton's and Bush's? Or are they just trying to redeem themselves in the eyes of liberals, or what?

Implying Rand Paul or John Kasich aren't a much more viable alternative than the idiotic, brilliant, or both Trump. I'm personally in this camp.

Couple that with South Park mocking everyone it's not a surprise.

BAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA. You're kidding me man. Nobody thinks that frat boys are cool in this context not even somewhat. Even in the generation of the current youth make fun of this stereotype. You're completely missing the point.

Edit: It's an interpretation of SJWs if they were big, strong guys. Their emotional immaturity would translate to violence in that case. Everyone knows that they are weaklings, but if they could use size and power they would be essentially assaulting everyone and everything in sight.

People mad about them making fun of Trump should watch the whole episode abut Hillary Clinton's vagina getting nuked by terrorists.

People getting mad about them making fun of Trump can also point me to where Trump talks about real solutions to problems!

Here is his solution to the border in detail. He is one of the few politicians running who has given details and solutions...

Solutions outside one issue. Hey I still love Trump and will vote for him. But don't get pissy when they call a spade a spade. It's like when the Scientologists got mad after the Trapped in the Closet episode but didn't bat an eye when they made fun of Catholics.
