I dunno zelecorpion. I smashed the competition at the science Olympiad and was the only guy on our team to bring home medals at the state level. We could have gone national but the rest of my team was mostly dead weight. Overall I was not terribly impressed with the other teams. If you competed at the national level or in a huge state my mistake.

I ran in a different country on the regional ones, after that there would have been the nationals, but since it was the capitol, that was usually the hardest.

Actually the stuff wasn't that hard - the biggest hurdle was the fact that 40% of it I saw the first time, so I very likely had bad material going forward as I was the only one in my school starting for it and there were other schools with entire teams and a lot more preparation going into it. I did it only out of interest and fun and wasn't terribly ambitious. I also think that the international ones are on a different levels.

Obviously I was not Ahmed-smart since I had no idea that you could become a world-renowned genius by smashing a clock casing and assembling the parts into a bomb-like suitcase.

Also - I have heard that he has a new invention in store:

Let it make it easy for you Ahmed - here is what you need:

You've got the gullible media and world-wide propaganda machinery behind you, so your coin-roll-tampon (or Sparkles) dispenser should be viewed with the proper brilliance. I also noted that Ahmed did not bring his genius clock around while meeting all those celebrities.

I was in the same boat, not terribly ambitious, also pretty young and had not seen anything previously. My biggest asset was that my physics teacher was primed to win so he taught us a lot of shit that he wasn't paid to do, per se, he just wanted to for bragging rights.

We never made it to nationals and I would have loved to see how the international competition was for Science Olympiad, we probably would have gotten slaughtered if we could have made it there but still, even failure teaches you a lot.

Cheers out of the love of competition, it's good to meet somebody else who has invested in the subject.

Hm - just read that you took part in a science olympiad. I took part in a chemistry olympiad, which is obviously something else. A physics teacher usually wouldn't be able to help with the preparation. The chemistry level that you had to display was at university degree for most parts. I very much doubt that the average 14 year old American student knew even 25% of it - even from an elite private school.

Now that I checked it out - we took part in different competitions - mine:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internatio...e_Olympiad - Chemistry devision, though I also participated in the Linguistics one
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internatio...y_Olympiad

From what I can take is that the Science Olympiad is a strictly American one and mixes various STEM fields at high-school level.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_Olympiad
When checking the events I see plenty of pop-science stuff on high-school level like building a wooden structure or displaying equilibrium in chemistry.

The stuff I did was 70% dry formulas and knowledge on University level and 30% various complicated experiments - again at University level. Also from what I have heard is that at the international level most chemistry graduates from good universities would need extra preparation to reach a good place - it's partly beyond university degree. Ahmed should have been able to build a fake nuclear dirty bomb replica if he was that good.

To be honest - this makes much more sense than a general overview of 2 dozen fields. Also a lot of it is a hands-on approach, team-work, construction, even writing - you get a general overview of many fields with not very much deep knowledge - certainly not even coming close to university level.

Well that sounds like fun. Yeah the US high school science olympiad competition was not terribly hard or competitive, the international one sounds like a pretty respectable precursor to master's studies lol.

Propaganda Ahmed met PR-Obama:

But even the headlines make fun of him:

I guess propaganda Obama counts on the fact that people won't read the comment section. Currently most mainstream media sites are worth shit without the comment section. At least at the bottom you find more truth than in the main text.

Ahmed's father recently posted something in Arabic claiming that this will promote Islam. Yeah - don't count on it.

He and his family are moving to Qatar after being accepted into their young inventor's program. Their problem now.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34587285

Quote:Quote:

Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old Muslim boy from Texas whose teacher mistook his homemade clock for a bomb, will move to Qatar with his family.
Ahmed has accepted a scholarship from the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, where he will study.
He met US President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday.
After being detained over the clock, Ahmed's case went viral on social media.
Some alleged he was unfairly treated because of his name and religious background. Officials in Irving Texas defended their decision, saying they were only concerned with the safety of students.
The Qatar Foundation is providing a full scholarship for his secondary and undergraduate education, according to a news release.

"Our family has been overwhelmed by the many offers of support we have received since the unfortunate incident of Ahmed's arrest," the Mohamed family said in the release. "From the White House to Sudan, to Mecca, we have been welcomed by a variety of individuals, businesses and educational institutions."
According to his family, Ahmed will be enrolled in the Qatar Foundation's "Young Innovators" program and his whole family will relocate with him to Qatar.
"Qatar was a cool place to visit. I loved the city of Doha because it's so modern. I saw so many amazing schools there, many of them campuses of famous American universities," said Ahmed in the news release. "The teachers were great. I think I will learn a lot and have fun too."
Ahmed withdrew from his Texas school shortly after the clock incident.
He was arrested after his teacher mistook his clock for a bomb, sparking outrage and the trending hashtag #StandWithAhmed.
In addition to being invited to the White House, Ahmed received an outpouring of support from scientists, politicians and celebrities including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

I'm guessing this program really attracts the brightest kids. The barrier for entry is "can successfully smash open a clock with a brick and put the contents in a pencil case".

To be fair, moral or not, the real winner in this whole thing is the father. He played the system beautifully and set his son up for fame and now Qatari fortune. This kid will probably be shitting on whores a good 5 years earlier than his compatriots.

They probably threw the biggest wad of cash at them. Also the father likely knows that his little genius would bomb at Google or MIT, since you can only bullshit so far.

The Gofundme stalling and the comment sections in the US clearly show that many people are on to him, so it's better for him to leave.

Good riddance to Clock Boy. Maybe he will manage to shit on whores, but I doubt he will rise far there as the Gulf States are highly clannish and he will remain a dirty Sudanese to them no matter what.

Five dollars they know there is a case against them for fraud and they're leaving the country before they'll be able to be snagged.

Come Dallas, your DAs can't be that limp dicked to prosecute this clear case of fraud!

I think there's more than meets the eye here. First, turns out kid is a fraud. Then he gets to meat the leaders of Google, Facebook etc, as well as the POTUS. Now he's moving to Qatar on a full ride. According to some sources, he's also met with Omar Al-Bashir, Sudan's president. His dad ran against Bashir (for the Sudanese presidency) many years ago. Bashir isn't exactly the kind of company you want to be taken pictures with.

The cop's name is on full view with badge number. Probably should have been blacked out.
Now terrorists everywhere are going to zero in on the cop and by the name it sounds like a woman.
