Christmas in Brazil (or any other catholic country)
09-13-2015, 03:24 PM
Hey guys!
I have the possibility to take off the month of december from work. I was on the verge of booking a trip to Fortaleza and Manaus, Brazil.
Now I am not sure how those places will be around Christmas.
Is there nightlife available 24 - 28 of december?
Are girls around in the city or will they all go visit their families elsewhere?
Do girls have time for dating, given pre-christmas is a very hectic?
How's the vibe?
Anyone with exprience?
Last year I spent Christmas in Hongkong which was perfect. Apart from some decoration in shopping centers, people don't celebrate. Maybe it would be better to head towards Asia?

24th: some Christmas parties going on after midnight at least in the major cities like Sao Paulo and Rio, don't know about Fortaleza/Manaus.
25th: usually a dead night, it's a religious holiday so most places will be closed.
26-28: it's all about where people will spend the NYE. Fortaleza is a famous NYE destination (there and the nearby beach towns like Jericoacoara), so there will be plenty of nightlife options there. Not so sure about Manaus.
For a city like Fortaleza, keep in mind that it has a strong sex tourism history so the local girls will be very weary of gringos. The good thing is that there will be plenty of tourists from other parts of the country during that time of the year.

Go to Manaus. There will be plenty of young girls who will make time for you, no matter what. Cannot say the same thing for the rest of Brazil during Christmas time.....even the NE.

I was just in Rio for that period of time in 2015, and while people did go out on the 25th, there were much bigger crowds on the 26th and past that. So just expect a dip on xmas day itself I'd say.
