Rio (Brazil) -> Advices ?

I found a decent 1BR in Copacabana on Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana really close to Posto 3. I am paying a little over $900 USD for four weeks. From what I saw of Impanema and Leblon, they are expensive; but, maybe it's because January is high season and everything goes up then?

Just my $.02.

For me Rio was hundred times better than Colombia. Much better scenery and way better girls. The last time I was there was two years ago so my advice might be outdated but back then the best place to go out for me was a bar called Emporio 37 in Ipanema. The whole street there has some cool bars and people hanging around outside. Very easy to chat up girls and while some people might say that Ipanema and Leblon girls are snobbish many of them speak decent English. What I also liked about Rio is the fact that girls usually chatted me up. There are quite a few pros hanging out at this bar but overall that place was always busy from Wednesday till Saturday. The place has quite a few pros but there are plenty of normal girls too.

Another cool thing to do is going to favella funk parties on Sunday night. Hostels are organizing a guided tour including transportation. I always had a blast at these parties.

I am planning going back to Rio in January. Only problem is that apartments on Airbnb in Leblon or Ipanema are horrible expensive. If I may ask in which area are you staying and how much are you paying? And what are the general prices at the moment? For example whats the price for a beer in a bar?

THIS! Pimsleur will get you up to speed QUICK. If you do a lesson a day for 45 days, you will have survival-level Portuguese down and then some.

Absolutely true. Will learn the basics, memrise is quite good for fast basic progression.
It´s pretty stupid not putting in an effort on the language training.

How far are you from the beach? I had a huge two bedroom in Botafogo for $140/week on a week to week. But no AC. Fucking mosquitos drove me nuts the last week.

I’d recommend doing the Rio Free Walker Tours your first week. Theygo around various areas and have food and pub crawls too that I pulled from.

I'm one (really two because it's a long one) block from the beach.....and I have A/C in my apartment, Wi-Fi and NetFlix (like I'm going to be watching NetFlix)....but, maybe it'll lure some honey into my lair ;-)

Staying in Rio without AC anytime of the year is suicide! Glad you made it! lol

Maybe you should aim for more of the upper class girls in Impanema/Leblon? Maybe around the university. Two of my pearls now (32 yo and 52 yo) are taking English lessons at he university. Play up your English-speaking, foreigner cred there.

I´d say that young upper class girls are the ones less opened to usual game (online or not). They´re 100% attached to her social circle... Explored a little bit of that in one post in another thread:

upper class girls in brazil in general need more social game. brazil is a social society after all. i would think in rio is more harder. in other cities the upper class girls are more down to earth and more friendly.

Yes, you´re right. Rio is probably the hardest city to bang upper class girls, followed by Sao Paulo. Think that actually applies to all metropolitan cities in South and Southeast (Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte).

I think if you don’t go to specific places you prob won’t meet any upper class brZilian girls. Most of them are exclusivlly going to certain places. If you go to bars in Leblon or ipanema such as empriouim you prob meet some middle class girls.

Upper class girls can be found in some specific parties, where you buy tickets in advance and they're not necessarily cheap.

For example: https://semhora.com.br/evento/beerhaus-o...-que-valeu

Even then, these events are very hard to work without social proof. I don't see a FOB gringo going there solo and cleaning up. But you never know.

I´d disagree with that. Those events are really expensive, but are one of the few situations that upper class girls get very drunk and are usually without male friends trying to cockblock you. Especially if it´s a sertanejo or pagode party, they tend to be more aproachable and you may have a chance to make out and get numbers to close in a 2nd date...

Anyway, I´m not into that parties (too much drunk people, very expensive tickets, very expensive drinks, overcrowded, etc), prefer nightgaming in bars or pubs.

Well, everything comes with a price. To interact with upper class girls, either you take the time to infiltrate their social circle (longer but more fruitful), or you pony up the cash to attend the same parties they do and mass approach them, hoping for a lucky "in" (much quicker but less fruitful).

Agreed. Sometimes you have to suck it up and lay out the $$$ to play in the major leagues.

Rio (Brazil) -> Advices ?

There are a lot of good advice in this thread.

Just came back after 2 weeks in SP and Rio. I would definitely say that being a gringo gives you very little "for free", compared to what I´ve thought before arrival. As someone mentioned earlier, this is probably different in the north where the white population is a minority. Compared to for instance Moscow where 7s and some 8s are dying too meet up with you, don´t expect it to be so easy here, unless you have a very specific blonde look.

Some quick observations:

*Climate in Oct/Nov: It´s not too hot yet. I had an average of 27-28c and several gray days with 22c.

*Prices: Rio and SP are crazy expensive, but that should not come as a surprise. Even as a norwegian guy I found restaurants and groceries to be on almost on the same price level as home.

*Avoid living in Copacabana. Shitty neighborhood and unsafe. Had several friends telling stories about being robbed there during mid-day.

*Internet game: Much easier to get dates in SP, where I also got the impression that more girls speak decent english. A problem I noticed in Rio was that 90% of the girls lives far away from Ipanema and its challenging to get a girl to travel 45 min to meet you. The white upper class girls living in Leblon/Ipanema will be impossible to meet up with (though tinder), unless you are top 5% in looks.

*The "Sertanejo" parties in SP are amazing for kissing hot brazilian girls without too much interaction up front (if you can stand the horrible music and high prices).

*If you have the time, put in some hours prepping your Portuguese. I had way to many conversations which went cold after they even wrote the first message, after bringing up the moodkiller "você fala inglês?

I feel that Brazil has gotten a lot of negative recognition, but despite all the negatives (prices, crime and not that easy to bang girls within short time) I would recommend everyone to visit before getting too old.

The vibe, especially in Rio is incredible and different from anywhere else I´ve been. The environment is also forcing you to be more aggressive game wise, which I believe is healthy for the personal development for people living in typical "non-agressive" game countries like Germany and Scandinavia.

Personally I will rather spend time on learning Portuguese and return to Brazil for upcoming trips, in favor of going to all the other South American countries (except Columbia). This might not be the most rational way of thinking, but it´s very easy to fall in love with Brazil.

Rio (Brazil) -> Advices ?

Got here this afternoon after 20 hours of traveling (3 flights). When I walk off the aircraft onto the tarmac, the first thing I see is Pao de Asucar. Holy Fuck is that a hell of a sight.

After getting my luggage and walking outside of baggage claim, I am greeted by squeals of delight/hugs/kisses from some beautiful, slim, sexy carioca sweetness. Let's have another Holy Fuck for that welcome to Rio de Janeiro! Not only does she help me with my bags, she takes me to a cab and says she's got it covered. We ride to Copacabana from SDU and I am just gob-smacked at the beauty that is Rio de Janeiro. I am like a kid at Christmas......and I have Miss Carioca Sweetness cuddling up to me as she plays tour guide and has me practice my Portuguese with her and the cab driver.

We get to my apartment in Copacabana and she pulls out 40 reals to pay the 34 R fare......the cab driver makes the mistake of trying to keep the change on her. He just assumed that since she is with a gringo, she's going to just give up the $. Oh hell no! Miss Carioca Sweetness was all up in his ass with the revolution about that. She said he assumed he could pull that because I am a gringo and warned me that this would be a regular occurrence.

After getting checked into my apartment, taking a shower and changing into clean clothes, we go for a stroll through the Copacabana neighborhood on our way to the beach. We stop at a fruit stand and I want to buy some watermelon after sampling some other tasty fruit samples. She asks how much and he said 10 Reals for me and 5 reals for her. OMFG, she started to go off on him and then said for us to leave and gave the vendor some more shit. She told me what had transpired....which with even my limited Portuguese I had already surmised. I got another mini-lecture about being careful with the dishonest vendors overcharging me because of my gringo status. Fuck! It is nice to have someone have your back in a new place, especially when they are sexy, slim and sweet.

We strolled the beach for a while and she pointed out the landmarks to me while we were sucking down a caiparinha with two straws. Then we went and had dinner at Siqueria Grill one block from the beach. Great food......great variety......everything is fresh and mostly organic....and not expensive. Two plates (pay by weight of food) cost us $27 and change including my mineral water. I say check it out if you're in Copacabana.

We went back to my apartment and hung out for a while before she had to take the Metro home. All in all a good day (and I didn't even have to use my AK).

Granted I've only been here a half day. She's leaving papi alone for the next two days, due to her work and commute logistics, to discover Rio on his own. I'll let you know how that goes in a new thread I'll start in this forum. Time to snooze now.

Pro tip: avoid cabs and get ubers.

Actually, it was 33R and that is what it costs in an official, metered cab. As far as your "Pro Tip", Uber is not that great here. As with many cities, the drivers are often new to the city and this is their gig to get by and they don't know where they are going or w=how the traffic patterns work.

REAL "Pro Tip": Use the 99 App. Many cabbies have it and they actually know where the fuck they are going and the best (i.e. least expensive/fastest) way to get there.

'Nuff said.
