All male club forced to allow female members to continue 52 year AFL involvment

The destruction of Australian Rules Football as a hub of masculinity has been happening for a while as this article on ROK pointed out: how social justic warriors have ruined australian football

But now the SJW's at the AFL have gone even further, forcing an all male club that has run a post Brownlow (MVP award) night function attended by the AFL CEO for over 50 years, to allow female members if it wants to keep the tradition alive. AFL boss Gillon McLachlan forces change on all-male Carbine Club

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan looks to have forced significant cultural change upon one of Victoria's last all-male bastions the Carbine Club.

McLachlan threatened to end a 52-year Grand Final week tradition when he initially refused to attend the Post Brownlow Medal Carbine Club function at Crown, saying the club was at cross-purposes with his role as a Male Champion of Change.

Quote:Quote:

"I put very plainly to them that while their membership is up to them our involvement going forward is contingent upon them opening themselves up," said McLachlan. "What we should be doing at events like this is supporting the huge level of involvement women have across our game.

"To be fair to them they seem to have an appetite for change. The Carbine Club has been a very important part of the Grand Final week calendar for many decades but there were two aspects for me that made it difficult. One is the AFL and where we are heading and also as a male champion of change."

McLachlan met last week with Carbine Club president Graeme Johnson and committeemen Graham Halbish, the former Australian cricket boss, and influential sporting agent James Henderson where he told them the AFL would not support the event beyond this year unless women were allowed to join the club.

Quote:Quote:

McLachlan is understood to have contacted Human Rights Commissioner Kate Jenkins on Monday to communicate his decision to attend and address the Carbine Club event. The Champions of Change make commitments regarding not attending functions which are not inclusive of women.

All because the AFL CEO is a white knight "Male Champion for Change".

Not surprising that it's written by the worst football journalist in this country, who writes for one of the most left leaning papers in the country.
And they wonder why there paper is going under with a phenomenal readership decline compared to its peers.

Link is gone. Probably too offensive to mention that this club even exists... Probably doesn't any more.
I feel it's only a short time until the only televised football in Australia is either women and gays playing touch, or a reality tv style show with a bunch of male models playing "rough" then talking about all the emotions they were going through to the camera for the enjoyment of women and gays.

They are launching a womens league in 2017.
However while it will launch to big fanfare and get coverage from some areas of the media I think that, just like womens cricket and soccer, we won't see/hear much about it after the launch.

I gave up on AFL years ago when they introduced pink shirts.

They did something similar in the US with the WNBA...nobody watches it but yet the media still covers it extensively.

So even though it won't be viable the media and powers that be will continue to support it despite any economic rationale.

Also, in America they are trying to ruin the NFL (pink referee flags and themes in honor of "Breast Cancer Awareness" week, but it's starting to piss a lot of fans off. And in the college game I noticed last week they now have "Prostate Cancer Awareness" weeks too (backlash must have started there).

The Carbine Club could also decide to unilaterally sever ties with the League. It may well mean less money for them, but at least they'll get to keep their balls.

That's the kind of club I'd like to be a member of.

Male Champion of Change

WTF? So, when are these champions of change going to insist on gender parity in 1% Motorcycle Clubs? I know the Hell's Angels have a fairly big presence in Australia. Surely some feminists see how this is discrimination?

Women these days think they can shop for a man like they shop for a purse or a pair of shoes. Sorry ladies. It doesn't work that way.

Women are like sandwiches. All men love sandwiches. That's a given. But sandwiches are only good when they're fresh. Nobody wants a day old sandwich. The bread is all soggy and the meat is spoiled.

Does AF have kickers like American football? I don't have an issue allowing female players, but I can't see how they could even make the team.
