El Patron del Mal is off the leash. Narcos can't compete. As a Spanish speaker I appreciate listening to easier to understand Spanish as the Mexicans I am surrounded by talk too fast and use too much slang.

Note: If you have watched other Spanish series like El Cartel de Sapos and El Reina del Sur, they use many of the same actors. Kind of like HBO does in their series.

When Chile dies I felt like I did when Jimmy dies on Boardwalk Empire.

Cause it's a Mexican novela. In my opinion the Mexican narco novelas are unwatchable. They are cheesy, over the top violent, B movies....no matter how high the budget is

Por alguna razón me cayó bien Monica Estarreado - no sé por qué... algo con ella que me saca de quicio.

Downloaded season 2 on toxicwap. Episode 7 had no subtitles. Anyone else had the same problem?

Finished last night. Season 1 was better. They hinted at there being a 3rd season but I don't think I'll be interested in watching it.

Yeah, that Escobar was one smart dude. It is hard to hate him, he is like the Colombian Tony Soprano, without the psycho babble.

Don't debate me.

He really had the luck of the devil too.

Escobar is like a lesson in cult of personality. You can become such a feared and also revered individual that you take on a mythic status when it comes to your own mortality.

It's amazing to think how many guys around him could have just plugged him but instead followed him based on reputation.

There's something inherently scary about someone who is willing to down an entire jet to kill a couple people.

This is always their downfall, however. It's a story as old as time.

Hard to hate??? Go to Medellin and Envigado and speak to people who are old enough to remember that time. Then do the Pablo Escobar tour where you meet his brother.

Maybe then you think different of him.

I too found it distasteful how the show made you sympathize with him despite how many fucked up things he's done and innocent people he killed directly or indirectly.

I didn't feel bad for him. The show has that Walter White effect. Making you feel for the character, but it's easy for me to say that he finally got a dose of his own medicine. People who bend the rules in their favor, then thank others can't bend the rules is silly. I enjoyed last season better, maybe because novelty. Either way worth a weekend binge for sure.

Narcos: New Netflix Series About Pablo Escobar

After living for 2 years in Medellin and visiting, nobody that i talked to about that era had positive things to say about Escobar and narcos. Likeable???? Put it this way, I've met many locals who have a relative or know of someone close who were murdered. This may be due to the narco/gang related activities or something totally different. When I compare that to where I grew up, Toronto, I don't know anybody who was murdered nor do I have friends who know someone who was murdered. Polar opposite experiences.

Not so long ago, in 1991 Medellin had 6391 homicides. I doubt anybody living through that period would say positive things about Escobar. So the best advice I learnt was to not talk about narcos (drug dealers) as it will get a negative reaction. I.E. You gringos only like mafia, killing, drugs, prostitutes ( all the vices ) etc.

Now, the show is still fun entertainment. My favorite character is his cousin Gustavo. I wonder which direction they will go next for a potential season 3. I saw the last episode so I wont spoil it for others (Peña)... Maybe they will focus on Griselda Blanca as well.

I see what you're saying, somewhat. Wagner Moura's portrayal made you sympathize at times until you remember that he blew up a small shopping center because he was PMSing, blew up an airplane of innocent civilians for some other small matter, murdered countless policemen, and was responsible for countless of deaths of innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire of his drug war.

I found his wife and mother equally vile. For them to be portrayed as innocents caught up in the middle of Pablo's empire was disgusting. Those women were facilitators of death and horror that ravaged Medellin for decades. They never pulled a trigger or pressed a detonator (of course, what woman would truly get her hands dirty), but they encouraged it and whored to all the luxuries that their despicable lives provided.

Pablo's mother was more repulsive. She deserved an even worse fate.

This is why I loved Sicario so much. The only two people who may be more guilty than a drug kingpin is the kingpin's wife or the family matriarch.

Only watched three episodes of Season 2 but the actress that plays Maritza - the girl that plays the decoy in the cab that Escobar rides in - is extremely attractive. Stick skinny, but then again I am Asian so am used to it.

Martina Garcia is cute, but Paulina Gaitán (Tata) has it in all the right places...
