Buying a Jet

You may be right DVY, as I said I don't know him personally. What I find odd is that his father Paul lives St Kitts in the West Indies and is required to pay back $62 million that he defrauded from people. He has only paid back $3.7M so the question remains, where is the rest of that money. Also, it would seem that if Dan is the wealthiest poker player in the world (more than Sam Farha, Phil Ivey, etc), you would think he would win more tournaments. He said he made $50M during 2014, well more than anyone else. He claims to have done this in private poker games. For me there are two possibilities: 1) his dad needs to launder almost $60M that he is unable to spend himself and is using "private poker games" to do it or 2) Dan is the best poker player in history (by winnings at least) without being ranked.

He's never won the world series of poker.

As a professional poker player he placed 180th in 2009 to win $36k.

You could be right and he regularly plays private poker games with the elite wealthiest people (without taking pictures with them) and avoids playing in tournaments (or placing badly on purpose). But you have to admit that if his dad was sitting on $60M that he couldn't use himself a poker playing son would be a great way to move the money.

Ivey has been killing online/offline for the longest time. He scooped Andy Beal in early 2000s for then unheard of sums. The pros pooled their $$$ together and Ivey won something like 20MM in 2 days playing limit holdem (Michael Craig wrote a book called The Proffessor, The Banker and the Suicide Kings). Ivey's share was at least 10%. Ivey has won 15MM+ lifetime online, plus at least 10x that live.

I doubt Blizerian is anywhere close to Ivey.

Dan Blizerian did win a huge amount in a WSOP staking deal-http://www.carbonpoker.ag/blog/general/dan-bilzerian-collects-from-jay-farber/

I believe he makes good $$$ playing private cash games AND has that back-up dirty cash stash from his dad.

Give him props- he also built a IG empire that probably can be monitized for 1MM+/year.

Edit- Pictures and publicity are a big no-no in the private games. Hell, its a big no-no in a lot of high-end exclusive spots. Grand Havana Cigar Club in Beverly Hills has a strict no-photography rule. Before you enter some private parties in LA, you need to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Average player who plays the WSOP main event has to play 3 days @16 hrs/per day. You need to get in the top 100 out of 6k to even get decent $. Total crapshoot. Ivey and Dwan play those tourneys because they have MASSIVE side bets going on. If they win a bracelet, they get paid something upwards of 10MM from the bets. (1st place @ most WSOP is around 1MM).

If you can win or lose 1MM+ in Macau or Moscow or Dubai, why even bother to play tournaments. Few tournaments have a 1MM+ 1st place.

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

One of the 10 richest men in the world on the Forbes Billionaires list Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway owns this outright...

https://www.netjets.com/

Net Jets Fractional Jet Ownership - is like an on call fleet of well maintained jets ( Buffet rides on these so does his staff)

Like a jet time share with world class maintenance - if one jet has an issue (Bird Strike etc) they have plenty of backups so you are never grounded.

J. Paul Getty was famous for his quote if it Flies, Floats or Fucks RENT IT!

Seems Buffet agrees.

Our local jet Charter - smoke cigars with one of the pilots - New England to Miami one way for snow birds about $3K RT a bit less. And they fly to the executive airports close to where people live.

Next time you have cigars with this guy ask him what kind of jet is 3K to charter New England to Florida, maybe he said $3K an hour, or $3K for just one seat in a seat sharing program.

Yes. I revived a thread with a delete.
