L-Tyrosine - ADHD reduction and mood improvement supplement

L-Tyrosine - ADHD reduction and mood improvement supplement

I have been looking for a while for something to help me with slight ADD. The field that I am in requires focus and my mental state tends to lend towards the creative side as my mind flitters from one object to the other in a state of boredom. For reasons undisclosed, the conventional methods of EFA (Essential Fatty Acids) consumed either via fish oils, wild salmon, cod liver oil isn't on my list. I had something that was working for me but I think that this particular supplement works best for me.

L-TYROSINE

Brand:
NOW brand

I think the NOW brand tends to have pretty good quality for some of the non bodybuilding herbs, aminos or supplements but you are free to obtain it from a more reputable source if you feel NOW is not up to par.

Where I purchased it:
I ordered mine from Amazon (since I have the Amazon Prime)

How to take it:

I take the NOW brand which comes in a 500mg dosage and from research, I consume it with a 50mg of vit B6 on an empty stomach.. After about one hour, I will have something to eat.

What I have found:

I find that my focus is improved. I am not talking anything on NZT levels or Provigil but I am able to take control of myself and do the essentials such as keep my apartment in order (it being in disarray has cost me lizards in the past) and and read books or articles that I would generally consider boring.

I also find that it allows me to stave off hunger a little better as well. It's supposed to help with focus in the gym but I haven't noticed anything dramatic.

Playawise (and this might be a big one), it also helps with mood by causing dopamine to be released so for you guys that are mass approaching or dealing with a lot of flaky lizards, you may notice that you are able to brush off these reptiles in a more efficient fashion without it bugging you too much. Your jovial approach may end up getting you the bang or enable you to brush off lizards that are just wasting your time unnecessarily.

Disclaimer:
Check with your GP or health practitioner prior to engaging in this supplement. There has been claims that if you have thyroid gland issues, it may aggravate it.

There is some mention to combine L-Tyrosine with 5 HTP to create the optimal mood state. I don't combine it but you may do so. Again, do take the L-Tyrosine on an empty stomach or it will compete with other amino acids for that blood-brain barrier and you won't experience the same results.

That be and all, I have enjoyed this supplement and I have been using it for the past month now and I thought I would share it with my brothers.

One love.

Thanks for the info, I've been looking into adding this and 5-HTP to my stack.

If you take these often does your brain get used to it, and would there be any sort of negative effect if you missed it for a day or stopped completely?

Moma do you know any reputable sources for amazon.uk ? It seems like all the good brands are on amazon us.

Also, how does L-Tyrosine compare with 5-HTP? I'm asking because I tried 5-HTP before and noticed that I have very vivid dreams (no nightmares except from the first few days of taking it). Should I bother with L-Tyrosine as well ?

Yes, I have tried gingko in the form of ginkgo nuts and I found that my memory was sharper and I was able to think more quickly.

There has been studies of one possibly building up tolerance to it. Based on personal feel, I followed this formula:

4 days on, 1 off.

2 days on, 6 off.

2 days on, 3 off.

1 day on, 2 off.

1 day on, 6 off.

2 days on (with a double dose taken on the 1st day - once in the morning and once in the evening) and I won't take it today.

You can experiment and see, I can't really give you an exact formula, it depends on your body chemistry. With these supplements, I usually try to take a supplement vacation at regular intervals.

Sorry, mate, I didn't really check into amazon.co.uk. I had a quick gander and the NOW brand is available on there. You can try other brands, I'm only telling you exactly what I tried and how I tried it.
You can also pop into Holland and Barretts if you like and try something from there.

Tyrosine is a precursor to Dopamine as said, which itself is a precursor to Adrenaline and Noradrenaline (Catecholamines). It's also good to take as a pre-workout supplement.

5-HTP is a precursor to Serotonin and Melatonin which maybe why you are having more vivid dreams.

I actually take it pre workout myself, I'll even throw in a gram in with the actual pre workout if I'm taking one at the time. I'll take a second dose in the early afternoon.

I've been taking Tyrosine and 5-HTP for the last few weeks. I've noticed my mood is slightly better.

The real quantifier for me will be when I stop working nights and clear out the brain cobwebs from that.
