Approaching in the library

So, Gentlemen...

Everything is situational, but I am studying for finals right now so I spend loads of time down at the royal library where the guy/girl ratio is something like 30/70 and there are plenty of delicious snacks.

At the same time, we're all here to study and it's generally bad manners to just waltz up and start talking. Also, silence is required in the studying areas.

People leave these "silent" areas to grab lunch, but in groups.

Any good ideas from cold-approaching in these situations?

To counter the quiet challenge, I thought of just walking up to a chick and leaving a note saying "Hi, I noticed you. Shoot me a text" with my name and number.

Other, better ideas?

eye contact is the main key here.....make the eye contact..let the girl know you are 'interested' ..

Danish girls don't do eye-contact. Not unless they're drunk.

Most girls just look away. And no, I'm not bad looking. I'm probably better than average.

I've never been inside kgl bibliotek but I did a fair bit of library macking when I was a student.

A friend of mine used to do the note thing at university. He had a pretty good response rate from that and got some dates out of it. He'd write something like "how about a cup of coffee and study break? Text me -" and then his number. He walked over and gave her the note personally but without talking to her so she wouldn't be creeped out and knew that he looked decent.

Browsing the shelves looking for books can be a good place to open, similar to bookstores. When I was making the rounds and picking up books for an essay or something I'd often have the opportunity to open. It was in the shelves away from the study areas so it was possible to have conversations there.

Since it's Denmark and social circle is important there you could just be friendly and run some student banter with the groups. Insert yourself into one of the groups, hang out with all of them together and figure out how to isolate later. I'd go for coffee breaks with a bunch of friends and get introduced to new girls from their shared classes or whatever. Once you know a girl you can very easily go up to her and say you were going to get some coffee, why doesn't she join?

What didn't work: someone set up a facebook group called Sex in the Library, but only dudes joined and no hookups resulted from it.

You local, Caligula?

I'll definitely give the note thing a try. I usually go alone, and unfortunately, the courses I take are about 90 percent guys (cand.polit), so it's strictly nerd domain.

Thanks for the tip!

Used to live there.

My course was quite geek heavy too. I got myself library cards to other universities' libraries for a change of scenery. The fashion schools wouldn't give me a card though for some reason.

Let us know how it goes!

I've used the passing-notes game in U.S. libraries, with decent results. It's tough because you can run into some pretty frigid specimens in academic libraries, especially at good schools. The key is to write something not lame and to make her feel like she's part of a secret or a little bit of slacker shenanigans.

This has worked for me:

1. Draw a hilarious, but quick-and-sloppy doodle of a third party (e.g., lame dude or girl sitting at a nearby table)

2. Draw an arrow so she can know exactly who you're talking about.

3. Write caption: "what do you think of my drawing?"

4. Wait for results. (e.g., "Your mean!" [misspelling intentional])

I once got a girl to laugh loudly in a quiet library. We exchanged a few more notes before I wrote, "let's take a 5-minute conversation break" and gestured to a nearby photocopy area. We talked and I warmed up the interaction more there.

I know I almost got banned when I started, but when Roosh gave a warning I just toned it down and stopped making stupid posts. I'm still not sure if I'm safe or not.

BUT

Invictus seemed like an ok decent guy just from his posts so I don't know why.
