Has anyone ever gamed in Paterson, NJ? It's a community not far from Hoboken/NYC. I was visiting a friend (of Peruvian descent) and was shown around the neighborhood. I was blown away by the distinctive cultural hubs there.

The Peruvian markets/restaurants were legit, but there was also a large Muslim population with tons of restaurants and markets. According to Wikipedia:

Quote:Quote:

According to Mayor Jose Torres, Paterson had 52 distinct ethnic groups in 2014. Paterson's rapidly growing Bangladeshi American, Turkish American, Arab American, Palestinian American, Albanian American, Dominican American, and Peruvian American communities are among the largest and most prominent in the United States, the latter owing partially to the presence of the Consulate of Peru. Paterson's Muslim population has been estimated at 25,000 to 30,000. Paterson has become a prime destination for one of the fastest-growing communities of Dominican Americans, who have become the city's largest ethnic group. The Puerto Rican American population has established a highly significant presence as well.

There's a Little Istanbul, Little Ramallah, Little Lima...

I am heading back home and didn't have time to game since I only spent one night there with my friend, but I'm intrigued. Any takers near NYC/Hoboken to try it out and report back on success?

Union City and the Ironbound are probably much better options. They are supposedly in the process of putting a really nice boutique hotel in the Ironbound and after it opens, I might spend a week there and report back. Yes, I'm considering taking a vacation to Newark.

Never had much luck finding talent in the ironbound, honestly. I say this as a man who lived in Newark for the past 7 years. I know it's there, because many of my brazilian and portuguese acquaintances would mention the beautiful women, but I found that unless you are really "in the know" about which places to go you'll usually walk into a bar and be greeted with a barrage of spanish and asked for money to enter a sausage fest of a bar.

Occasionally, I'd hit up a bar and see some real talent, but they almost always accompanied by crowds of men (boyfriend and his crew) so I'm not sure if Newark is a good place for night game.

Day game might be an untapped market in newark, though. Could go over well since most of the spanish speakers in newark are at least semi-bilingual.

As for paterson, I've only ever gone there for the food, but goddamn is the food good! I have a turkish friend who took me to this Turkish restaurant and I was really impressed with the quality.

Paterson generally gets a bad reputation amongst New Jerseyans so I don't go there for anything other than food. I guess it could be a great hub for swooping ethnic girls, but I would say be careful.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

I will definitely go back next time for more than one night to explore food. The Turkish food sounds good. I went to a Palestinian restaurant called Al-Basha, very delicious as well. The Peruvian market I went to had delicious chicha morada, I got hooked on that in Cusco.

Well, no guarantees on this place, but hopefully someone can do some further research soon. It's always nice to find some lesser tapped ethnic neighborhoods within arms reach, and as someone else said, can always change base to NYC in a heartbeat.
