ASPARTAME,BAD STUFF!

I wanted to share what had happend to me over the last month while dieting for the summer.
I went on a low carb diet to lose 10 pounds a month or so ago.I started drinking crystal light pink lemonade along with water.Probably about 2 liters a day of the lemonade,I was even using it to mix my drinks with.
I did not worry so much about the warnings about the stuff because I've known girls that have been living off diet coke for years without any problems.
I thought that I had injured my foot at work and went to the doctor to have it looked at because I was limping and in pain. They had taken a xray and gave me some anti inflamatories and it seemed to get better,,nothing was broken.
After a week I still had mild pain and noticed while walking my ankles were starting to hurt so started to worry. Also last week my wrists were starting to hurt also.
I started some research and found studies where people developed arthritis from aspartame and after stopping returned to normal so a few days ago I stopped and now all is good..here is a link that lists side effects. I would recommend not to use any artificial sweeteners.

I am glad you targeted it. I've been telling people about artificial things for ages but they just think I am a preacher. I recommend if one needs to sweeten their food, use brown cane sugar. Always use it in moderation. I don't believe in this zero calorie nonsense, there is a catch.

I pound the diet drinks, I've tried the water route just can't stomach it at the amounts of liquids I drink. Crystal light and diet drinks have been my mainstays and the aspartames always been a worry but i'd be adding over 500 calories a day if I drank the non diet stuff. It's coming down to picking your battles, fat vs aspartame, trying to find a middle ground and go with the splenda sugared stuff but it's not easy to find.

Sugar is a substance that your body knows. It may not be healthy but its not poison.

When I went the low car route I Just learned to like something naturally sugar free. For me it was unsweetened iced tea. Its ostensibly just caffeinated water, but it lends a bit of flavor too. Most people real back at the idea of unsweetened iced tea, and I did too for the first few weeks, but now I actually prefer it to water or just about anything else.

I couldn't find any mention of any of the alleged side effects in that article from any reliable source. There are a couple of case reports of people having allergic reactions to aspartame (hives or swelling) but the evidence is really weak. If you think you may be having an adverse reaction you can switch to a different sweetener like Splenda which your body will probably tolerate better.

Use a moderate amount of natural organic honey, or brown cane sugar or just be a man and cut all that out and drink and eat without sweeteners. Sweeteners are for betas. [Image: wink.gif]

ROFL

IVe heard that sucralose (splenda) is supposed to be much better should you find yourself in a situation where you need a sweetner, I stick to that when it comes to coffee
