A drone assassination was attempted in Venezuela. It failed.

Too bad for the Venezuelans it failed.

Maduro is blaming the far right in Colombia at the moment. This was unsuccessful, but this will have a lot of ramifications. Also, mark it up, this is a milestone on the history of the world.

The official birth of a power multiplier. The knife, the lance, the gun, the UAV.

In future warfare, I believe almost all actual violence will be done by drones, airstrikes and smaller special ops forces (Green berets, SEALs, ETC)

This is how it always goes! Someone comes up with sonar, soon after you`ll have basic stealth technology on subs etc. Same thing with radar and air warfare. But there tends to be a few casualties before people wake up to the threat.

It`s hard to imagine how you could protect a VIP speaking outdoors with jamming devices etc. currently though. But I`m certainly no expert on that subject. My guess is that we will see an assassination carried through "successfully" on a political leader/notable public figure before the problem is addressed seriously. I`m more worried about how it will affect citizens, and potential abuse by Governments. Not only using killer drones, but the potential for spying on people with miniscule drones masked as insects and so on. that`s a scary scenario, and these technologies are being developed as we speak.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

Funnily enough, the global drone warfare tactics began with... the Shia LaBeouf thing: remember the drone in Nantes, which carried a burning item to set fire to the "Hewillnotdivideus" faggoty flag?

Violence done by the US and other developed-country allies, maybe China/Russia to a lesser extent, sure. But the vast majority of warfare doesn't involve developed nation states, and I don't see African warlords switching over to drones any time soon. Drones are expensive (by their standards), kidnapped 13-year-olds from the next village over are cheap.

What about 13 yr old children with 3D remote sensor implants and cyber controls tied into their pleasure/pain centers

Not to mention. Short of having numerous highly intelligent robots for seizing & holding ground, basic infantry will still be required.
Yes those basic infantry may become nothing more than glorified security guards as they protect that hill or that bridge or that complex. Yet the job still needs to be done.

Then there's the human engagement element. It will be rather difficult to gather 'humint' with the aid of a faceless, charmless drones / robots...

Isaac Asimov's laws of robotics can now take a back seat to all this.

They also see them as booty (literally) and a non-electric meat-refrigerator (cannibalism).
