IMO Brasilian Portugese is not so pleasant to the ear, it sounds like a deaf person trying to communicate in pigeon spanish...

Spanish is more beautiful, more useful, has approximately double the amount of speakers (420mil vs 210mil) and is spoken in many more different countries

Portuguese people say spanish sounds like talking Portuguese with a burnt tongue.
Spanish is more paused and cut, Portuguese is more continuous and smoother. No real difference, both got their own sex appeal (with Spanish having more imo)

Id go with spanish, as they will be handy in the following p*ssy paradises

Colombia
Dominican Republic
Panama
Costa Rica
Cuba
Venezeula
Argentina

and of course the mainland spain.

Portuguese only has brazil as a redeeming factor IMO.

The portuguese in portugual from what i heard speak a lot of other languages anyway. They probably know basic english or spanish

Costa Rica, Cuba, Venezuela and Argentina are pussy paradises? Those places are either relatively hard to game, filled with tourist, or are just shit because of government problems. I mean Venezuela is way more dangerous than Lusophone Africa, I wouldn't call that place a pussy paradise.

While Brazil might be the only Portuguese speaking country in South America, it is so gigantic that it doesn't really matter. I mean technically more people speak Portuguese in South American than Spanish simply because of Brazil.

Spanish speakers (Mexico, Central America + South America) = 375 million
Portuguese speakers (Brazil) = 205 million

I remember watching UFC 84 at the bar with my brother and cousins. After Wanderlei knocked out Jardine, they interviewed him in the cage. My cousin soon asked:

Cousin: Woah, is he retarded?
Me: No, he's from Brazil.

Agreed, i should have broken it down into pussy paradises and places id like to visit.
excluding Argentina no interest in going there. Venuzuela is very dangerous yes and i would not go their either. Brazil is huge yes good point also.

I could probably have more interesting holidays with spanish skills then portuguese skills i guess. But now i can see why portuguese has a lot of value for those that love Brazil and intend to hop from city to city.

european portuguese strongly inferior?! thats hilarious! its way more complex and harder to master in any form: read, write speak. american pt is just a dumbed down version of the language. it should be easier to learn...

i got triggered. pt/br can sometimes be a sensible issue

The OP thread is about what's the best language learning investment between Spanish and Portuguese (Brazilian)?

I'll say it depends in your first language and your goals.

Then some opinions were issued about learning PT/PT or PT/BR.

As a 'love tourist' you should learn 'PT/BR', definitely.

If you really wanna know portuguese and all the "nuances" of the language, it can only be learn in Coimbra.

Complexity means dificult, hard to master, thats a good concept in my book
