A lot of it is guilt, conscious or subconscious.

Many of the people I see doing it are the same who treat waiters like crap, the ones who treat anyone in the service industry as "the help". That is spot on. Seems like FB mirrors people's need for attention as well. It has to do keep doing shit to keep it, adjusting, buying, snooping to try to maintain itself as relevant. Which works, because they hit their prime attractive levels in their late teens, so they don't have enough time to learn how the world works, just use their feels and hopefully it works out.

Since a naturally attractive woman that is all about the feels can pull in a man who is not.

This is an excellent point. It's like non-explicitly stated tolerance is not good enough. Kind of a big jump, but it sorta mirrors the "yes means yes" nonsense. If not are not actively, explicitly expressing your position ("tolerance") or intentions ("sex!!!"), you're either part of the problem or you're perpetuating the problem.

Subtlety is apparently a thing of the past.
