Because our overlords are teaching us to not think for ourselves and do as the mob says. A lot of people fall right in line and put up no fight.

Take care of those titties for me.

Is the shit you're referring to the rainbow, the duck face, or the fattie?

I'm going to guess it's all of the above.

A lot of it is guilt, conscious or subconscious.

Many of the people I see doing it are the same who treat waiters like crap, the ones who treat anyone in the service industry as "the help". Think Hollywood, most of them preach liberal causes, yet treat their employees like crap both financially and professionally (i.e. Dunham, who wasn't paying her opening acts until called it, begging the question what sort of loser would open for that specimen?)

But hey, they changed their profile pic to support an "in" cause, so they must be good people right?

That is spot on. Seems like FB mirrors people's need for attention as well. It has to do keep doing shit to keep it, adjusting, buying, snooping to try to maintain itself as relevant. So it does crazier and crazier shit. FB allows for insanity but also creates it. But it is good for researching people.

It's the same type of mentality that drives people to place that obnoxious COEXIST bumper sticker on their car. So they can pretend that their more tolerant and evolved than everyone else. Simple attention whoring.

I'm sure you all have seen it too.

Kony people are all about the feels. And predominately women.

Which works, because they hit their prime attractive levels in their late teens, so they don't have enough time to learn how the world works, just use their feels and hopefully it works out.

Since a naturally attractive woman that is all about the feels can pull in a man who is not.

(Straightish) Men that do the Kony thing, do it because they see women using the feels, and think this is what women are attracted to, versus it just being how women operate.

It's a way to status whore.

Human beings have always competed for status. Nowadays we compete for status by showing how good of a person we are and instilling warm feels. By displaying the rainbow flag on your profile picture, you're essentially telling people to admire you because of how enlightened and accepting and tolerant you are.

It's the liberal version of "praying in public".

Matthew 6:5 "When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward."

Unfortunately, social media just seems to encourage this sort of ostentatious moral preening.

This is an excellent point. It's like non-explicitly stated tolerance is not good enough. Kind of a big jump, but it sorta mirrors the "yes means yes" nonsense. If not are not actively, explicitly expressing your position ("tolerance") or intentions ("sex!!!"), you're either part of the problem or you're perpetuating the problem.

Subtlety is apparently a thing of the past.

Signalling

It's just in-group signalling all the way down.

Yep. Status signalling with more than a hint of narcissism.

This paper cites a report that asked Prius owners to list their top five reasons why they purchased the car, the number one reason given was because it “makes a statement about me.”

And the reason other, much better hybrids, don't sell as well is they do not scream "look at me!" like the Pious and it's decidedly unique and unattractive style.

Pious owners are essentially a cult and the car is their badge.

As of July 2015, Kony is still at large. And absolutely NO ONE gives a shit.

Of course, if you were indifferent to the Kony-hype back in '12, you were a monster. You might as well have been one of Kony's henchmen.

I'm certain the whole Kony hoopla was a trial test to see how easily women and effeminate men could be manipulated & controlled. It was apparently a smashing success.

There is also the thing about the kidnapped Nigerian school girls.

Sadly, SJWs probably got lost in deep thoughts looking into their vegan, gluten free, pesticide free, picked by hand, organic, third world country grown, double caffeinated but without caffeine, with a nice little picture of a tree floating on top, artistically drawn by a highly educated in BS, deep as fuck in debt barista who thinks being a hipster and being constantly full of snark will get him somewhere. So they forget all the righteous causes they have told others they care about.

Alaska's view of the attention whoredom seems more akin to Russia's by the looks of things.

Not to inject race into this, but this is why it's good to have minority friends. None of my black friends and hardly any Latino friends changed their pic to the rainbow. Virtually all that changed it are white(SWPL).

I kind of would like to see a counter-movement.

Maybe like shades of black and white instead of shades of the rainbow. To suggest the bleak reality of this supposedly wonderful "event".
