For guys who are familiar with the Miami club scene, specifically South Beach, that scene I posted above is perfect.

When tall, big, Black guys are in VIP at big-name SoBe clubs, women automatically assume they are professional athletes, that's why she immediately opens him with "What team do you play for?"

He could have smashed in the bathroom if he just played along and kept it simple, instead, he actually tells her the truth, that he's retired and his shit is complicated -- if you're hitting up night clubs looking for fast sex, the truth is the last thing you should be telling.

SoBe club rats don't want to hear all that noise, which is why she dismissed him immediately. At the end of the day, they just want stories to tell, like "Yeah, I fucked this guy last night, he plays for the Dolphins".

She also gave Ricky the classic answer when he asked her what she does for a living, "I'm in branding".

When Miami girls tell you they're in branding, that usually means they work sporadically for different companies for promotional events, most are just wannabe models who are often broke -- those jobs don't pay that well -- which is why they're trolling SoBe clubs for dudes with money, trying to get put on.

When you're going out how those guys are going out, with money and status, then you're really playing night game here, but most guys in these clubs are spectators at-best, and in some SoBe clubs, if you're not in VIP, the dope girls won't even talk to you.

Does the VIp get u pussy guaranteed? What if the guy tell the chicks that he is an investor? Doesn't look like it will get the girls wet. The branding thing is true and some seems to be sponsored by looking at what they drive

No, VIP is not and never will be a guarantee for pussy; however, at SoBe clubs, it at least gives you an opportunity to game chicks who otherwise would disqualify you from jump -- most bottle service dudes have it fucked up, you're better off bringing girls with you if you already have a table versus trying to game bitches there, the odds of you getting ass at the end of the night are just much better; strangers in the club have all kinds of agendas and circumstances, you need all the stars to line up for some shit to pop off.

I wouldn't tell a girl I'm an investor because that requires too much explaining that a chick isn't trying to hear/talk about in a club -- the question that would immediately follow is what do you invest in? Then there's has to be this back and forth bullshit, that works better in an environment where you can actually have a full-length conversation.

You're better off telling her you do something in fashion, music, television/film, or sports, that kind of stuff gets their attention pretty quickly.

It's a nice show at least in a manly environment. I have no envy for the guys who struck the genetic lottery, because even with that physical advantage they had to put in the discipline and work to make it big. I estimate that roughly 20-100 times more men had the genetic potential to become NFL players, but obesity, lack of discipline and fate stopped them and they are working in a shoe store like Al Bundy now.

The show wonderfully depicts all those carousel riding hoes in case anyone is wondering who the 8+ girls are fucking and how they spend their party years. They are not even gold-digging now, they are just sport fucking for experience.

But I see that they are subtly pushing the show towards overpowering sane wives and the feminine imperative, so it's likely that the show will become a centerpiece showing big burly men fucking up their lives and their wonderful wise women saving them from themselves. We will see.

Go to line for me even though I am tall and black (which makes them think I am an Athlete) :
Her -what do you do?
Me-You Know the music business and show business?
her-Yeah...
Me- I am the business(hands her fake ass business card)
To pull this off you must have a nice watch , nice clean shoes, good clothes- and recreational drugs. You used to need a nice car but Uber changed that. To get the bathroom fuck, it helps to go to do some "bumps" after she hits it you DO NOT. She will ask why you don't hit the blow, without out missing a step say"because I am going to need my erection tonight" turn her around, pull the skirt up, push the thong to the side and put it in. If she says no STOP, she has already hit the blow, and she will be around you like a satellite all night. Make sure she is hot, nothing is worse than an HB6 with a habit jonesing following you around a club full of better chicks. Bathroom game 101 brought to you by the bathroom bandit.

Naw NFL players are super athletes. It's extremely difficult to make a roster. I kept up with one guy who benched 405 at 192 and had 4.3 speed, I don't think he ever played a down in the NFL. Trent Richardson and Vernon Gholston were beasts in the weight room, which makes their bust status all the more hilarious. I would assume survivorship error is fairly low due mostly to injuries with extracurricular activities coming second (whether it's hanging with the wrong people or being good at other sports like a few NBA players).

If you look at the high school highlights of these athletes, it's clear they hit the genetic jackpot. Allen Iverson was like 5'5" 132lbs when he first started in high school football. He played QB, S, and was the return man simply because he was that so much better than everyone else it would be dumb to not maximize opportunities to get him the ball. Even though he became an NBA star, AI's case is standard with a lot of NFL players.

guys like Jamaal Charles and CJ Spiller have better 100m times in high school than most adult men could dream of.

Vince Wilfork is barely 6'2" and has a BMI of 41. Yet he can dunk 10 feet (and it's believable if you've seen him play).

I think even saying 5 times as many men have NFL athleticism is being too generous. Actually I am reminded that the Rock was College teammates with Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp, and Bob Marley's son at the U.

What you are missing here is the huge number of genetic monsters who sat in front of their TV from age 6 onward - 30-40% being overweight even then. You miss the drug abuse at early age etc.

I know from the examples in European soccer that the genetic potential of some countries is massive, but is simply overlooked which explains why tiny countries like Netherlands with a population of NYC are having a world class team and Russia with over 100 mio. has a mediocre one despite recent improvements. Russia certainly produces 10 times as many genetic freaks who could reach Arjen Robben's ability, but without training from early age it's impossible.

The NFL goes more into raw power, but due to other co-factors that power has to be trained from an early age on as well.

You would be surprised how many people would register if 100% of the population was working out in order to become a pro-athlete. Of course most would not make it, but the teams would certainly become much better with many more talents found which otherwise work at Costco or are in prison.

I am sure the survivorship bias is not as big as you make it. I don't the logic follows here. For all of your arguments the NFL has answers for them.

Childhood barriers? A lot of NFL athletes have overcame them (a large portion come from poor single mother homes)

Your population example? NFL is full of minorities

Needing training from an early age? The NFL has a few men who are exceptions.

And that is the point, pro athletes are supposed to be exceptional. If 100% of the population trained, pro sports would still be mostly left (< 2% error) with the athletes they currently have.

Vince Wilfork dunks on a 10 foot goal despite being 3/4" under 6'2" and a BMI over 40? exceptional.
Dwight Howard has a diet of "the equivalent of 24 Hershey bars a day" in carbs but has abs? Exceptional.
A football coach who didn't believe in weight lifting but 4 of his players are in the NFL hall of fame to go along with his several 1st round draft picks? Exceptional.

There are more examples of this (Randy Moss, Jason Pierre-Paul and Usain Bolt come to mind). Pro athletes don't follow patterns or rules, they break them. They can over come poor dieting, poor circumstances, poor coaching (probably the one that pisses me off the most), and blooming late.

Oh it's much worse, I left out the part about how a lot of those chicks are often married or have live-in boyfriends, they also leave their children with their mothers so they can go out and party.

You have to get it in when you have the opportunity here, like I said before, people here have certain circumstances so it's easy for them to lie to kick it because at the end of the day, you'll never really know who they are anyway, and that's how they want it, for whatever reason -- that's why most relationships that begin at night clubs are DOA, they're built on lies.

I accepted the fact a long time ago that women are insane beings, and they're self-medicating on whatever they can get, it's not my job to cure them, just to keep giving them their fix, I'm the dealer, not the rehabilitator.

Jariel; the Miami ex I was pining away for in the Latina thread opened my eyes to this. Grew up in Kendall, moved to the beach at 18 to dance at Mango's, date NBA players and do that whole thing. This chick actually turned out decent, but I met her old friends there and they are just what you describe. Seems like a right a passage for a large percentage of young women in Dade County.

FIFY.

The only advantage they have in Dade County is proximity which results in better access. Take a 9 out of bumfuck Arkansas and drop her in Dade County, within 6 months she'll be taking it up the ass in a SoBe bathroom just like the girls who spent their entire lives there.

I was a fan of ESPN's Playmakers, which came on a decade ago and was cancelled after one season due to pressure from the NFL because the show was telling too many truths about professional football on and off the field.

Surprised anyone else remembers that show - but it was funny at the time how fast the NFL threw a blanket over it. 10 years later they'd probably wish they had that kind of PR problem between the concussions and Ray Rice.

All in all, I thought the season premiere of Ballers was dope, it takes place in Miami -- real Miami, not L.A. acting as Miami which happens frequently in television shows -- which for me is an added bonus.

One of the reasons I have always liked the first season of Dexter especially - more filming on location. Same with Burn Notice.

In Miami; especially Brickell,Downtown, South Beach and The Hard Rock many of these hot chicks get pregnant by a rich dude in their early twenties get plastic surgery and immediately divorce him(securing income for 18 years) and start partying.

There are no illusions here to the initiated, women are heartless, cold, status obsessed, money hungry, and manipulative. Everyone here is fronting, dishonest, deceitful, and out for themselves-I do not want to single out women. This is the South, but it sure ain't friendly. This is the only place I have been where I am glad I started out broke with only my brother as a friend because if you are paid you cannot trust anyone. Everyone is on the take, you can actually bribe the cops (not the state troopers though) it is like GTA the level of sleaze here at every level . I have no mercy on the women here, I lie, bullshit and have no remorse with the way I treat them. In other places women at least have the decency to pretend it is not all about money and status, here they are overtly about that shit. If you meet a nice girl down here she is from out of town, and even those chicks will turn if they stay long enough.

Decent first episode

+ HBO high production values
+ Focus on men's lives
+ Female nudity (When they start including male nudity, that's when you know they're pandering to women)
+ Entourage feel

- Acting can be a bit suspect

7/10 WDLFE Will download future episodes

Jariel I don't watch much TV so I'm glad you made a thread about this show, I'm enjoying it so far and probably wouldn't have heard about it otherwise.

One minor thing that's helping is the music, I can't remember ever hearing quality stuff like Busta and Gang Starr in typical shows, though "The Wire" had some good hip hop.

You are familiar with the difference between statistics and anecdotal evidence, right?

I don't mean to be curt, but it appears that you've misunderstood the essence of the post you are responding to.

You can't respond to an argument about the millions that have missed out on an opportunity with a few examples of individuals who have defied the odds.

Even if you could assemble a list of 100 people that have defied the odds (didn't play football till college, grew up in Russia, etc), you're pulling those examples from population groups composed of millions of people, and proving, that the odds of defining the odds are less than one in a million.

Not a very strong response to the claims you disagree with.

Yes, they are always a few exceptions.

These "exceptions" are often referred to as "the exceptions that prove the rule."
