Hey guys, I am visiting Bangkok during 18th-26th June. Thinking of staying around Silom or Nana? Anyone recommend any good places?

I do not see much of a reason to stay in Silom or Nana. You might want to consider your decision and focus on Thong Lor, Siam, or if you prefer a more residential area Ari.

I've never been to Bangkok and from what people have mentioned they say to stay at those places. Personally I've read the other thread on BKK and seems like Asoke or Thong Lor seems to be the better option. Would it be better to rent an apartment from airbnb just for 7 nights or a hotel?

For a short stay Asoke and Nana are great spots, a lot of people hate on Nana but it's close to levels and sugar so its a good location to stay for a couple of weeks. Hotel probably better for a 7 day trip.

Just to add a bit of information. How about starting your evening at a rooftop bar. There must be about a 100 in Bangkok, and about 20 really good ones. You guys should try Above Eleven at Sukhumvit Soi 11, at the top of Fraser Suites. I like it because of the Peruvian drinks they have. You can then go directly downstairs to Levels which is in the same street.

My personal favourite is Octave bar at the Marriot hotel. Not to be mistaken with the JW Marriot hotel.

Was there a few weeks ago and they still have daily happy hours from 5-7 (since at least 2 years), every day, 7 days a week. (They offer about 10 cocktails with happy hour deals) Not a bad deal to start there, have a few cocktails while watching the sunset. It's at the 49nd floor so that's not bad either. Also close to Thonglor BTS station. It does not get real crowded either, there is always place to sit, even on friday around 6 pm.

Typical nice evening in Bangkok for me would be Octave, hop on over to Sukhumvit Soi 11 to listen to some live music at Apoteka and then head on over to Levels (though a lot of freelancers) or RCA. I usually stay at the president palace in Soi 11, right across from Levels.

Back in August for a few nights for sure.

Does anyone have experience with getting a place really close to a nightlife venue (for pulling girls quickly)? Let's say right across the street or only a minute away.

@King Epic - it's good if its just a short stay but the quality of girls you get might not be great.

It wouldn't work with my formula because if I don't pull from my first venue and I see the ratio go to shit or something like that, i'll quickly bounce and go to another spot and maybe do it again. Could see me venue hopping from Sathorn to Sukhimvit to Phloen Chit.

I'd go back to the reccomendation of mid sukhimvit. Anywhere between BTS Phrom Pong and Phra Khanong. Convenient, good reputation and very good deals on AirBNB.

Just thought I would share some info that I've heard bits and pieces of the last couple of days.

Clubs have been shutting at 1am these past couple of days and it looks like there is a struggle in the Thonglor Police Command.

If that is the case, and a Pro-Junta commander is incoming there might be a lot of pressure coming under nightlife venues going forward as the 'official closing time' is actually 2am.

I am highly doubtful it would be sustained but it did happen this time last year as well and it really changed the dynamics of Bangkok's nightlife. It usually means people either

A) Go out earlier - like 8 instead of 11 or
B) Don't go out at all

So keep an eye on that and I will come back with more info as it becomes relevant.

Happened at Levels on Thursday night, closed down at around 1.

I was told that last night most clubs were back to their usual closing times.

The fact that BIB (Thai Cops) did the stunt on a weekday means they probably did not want to miss ALL of their portion of the Weekend's takings.

I suspect things will go back to normal. The Junta did try and limit this early on but they are stretched thin. If they are committing people to policing nightclubs, all of the other promises they have made will be compromised.

Flying into BKK on the 15th.

Down to meet up with well-repped members or guys who've at least met a few other people from the forum. I don't drink but up for some food, pool, and stogies. Doesn't bother me to go out and see other people drinking at all.

Hit me up.

Hey all,

I'm looking for a wingman in Bangkok. I'll be here in BKK for a month (from now until Sept. 15th). I'm 28, American, and ready to check out the nightlife here. Anyone in BKK care to meet up?
