LOL...Yeah BKK can be a dangerous trap in terms of over partying and easy sexy girls. But Phuket is no better my man. I'd say it's worst in that it's more expensive than BKK and you have the beaches. Parties and easy girls are as abundant there than in the City of Angels. Chiang Mai would be a better bet if you want less distractions. If you want to totally isolate yourself, then you may want to look for a camp somewhere in Isaan or in Udon in the middle of nowhere. But Thai lingo a must there as English is alien in those parts. Good luck in Phuket and let us know if you're able to keep yourself away from the endless distractions there.

The big problem in a place like Udon, I imagine would be WIFI speeds, which is very important to my operation at the moment.

I'm in Phuket. It's great to be back.

FYI got a friend who stayed in Udon few months back says the webs are high quality there...

I keep on hearing that Isaan and Udon have some of the fastest internet connections in Thailand if not Asia. Report back with a full report on CM YMG. That's a place I'd like to hit up next time.

Where are you hearing this? Who is saying that Udon has the fastest internet connections in Thailand and possibly Asia.

From what I hear, Chiang Mai is going to turn out to be the best city in Thailand - at least given my priorities.

Udon not fastest in Asia but apparently amazingly fast given its remote location.

Know a few guys who working out of Chiang Mai, everyone seems to love it... cheap food, good weather, super fast internet. One downside-- girls. Apparently not the best scene.

Never been there looking forward to a visit sometime soon and to hear your report.

A few notes on Thailand.

-BKK: Tai-Pan hotel is great. 1500 baht on agoda. Got a free upgrade to a deluxe room. Very friendly staff, great breakfast, excellent location just off Soi Cowboy and close to BTS and subway stations.

-Chiang Mai: Check out “Spicey’s”. Quote from an English long-term resident: “If you can’t get laid there, you are gay.” Starts late after 1 am.

-Pukhet: Definitely rent a scooter here. Get a free real drink at Famous nightclub (rooftop bar next to the big shopping center) before midnight. Then head to Bang-La road to the strippers…

YMG what are some items i should pack for the 6 months of training, i got 4lbs of protein and a bunch of other supplements, how much are quality shin guards out there, i forgot about the prices? or should i bring the ones i currently have.

Which city are you going to?

If you are going to Bangkok you should take as little with you as possible, including protein. You should be saving that luggage weight for things that matter.

I didn't buy shin guards so I don't know how much they cost. I would suggest buying all your stuff in Thailand - especially if you are going to Bangkok.

I got my Norwegian flag in Phuket.

Work and fitness have been accelerating a lot lately, which has been great.

Everything is on track for my return to the western hemisphere and arrival in Medellin.

I guess I'm going to have to open a "YMG does Medellin" thread.

I really look forward to hearing about your Medellin adventures.
Are you going to be pursuing biz opps in Medellin too or just working on your current product?

I'm flying from HK to Bangkok then taking a bus the next day to Chiang Mai.

I am out of shape and completely out of sync with Muay Thai, i will go up to Lanna Muay Thai for a few months then head down to the hardcore Bangkok gyms later.

Edit.. but wait Koh Samui or Phuket would be better for girls you think? what part of Thailand has the best reggae scene?

I trained at Chai Yai Gym in Chiang Mai for 6 months when I was 19. It was an incredible gym back then, with top trainers and 100x more personal attention than a place like Lanna. I remember coming in some mornings and there would be more trainers than fighters.

You might want to check if it has changed... I heard some of the trainers quit because of personality clashes.

I'm subbing to this thread in case you find a good place to train as I'm coming this winter for two months. I will probably only train private weekend lessons though because I might be busy.

Chiang Mai had quite a few reggae bars. I don't know if it was better than other cities though.

Roark,
welcome on board man! I'd love to see a data sheet/more details about that Chai Yai Gym in CM. Sure I could google it but nothing beats first hand experience from someone who's been there. Thanks man.
