Moving to Rio next month

So I'm packing up and moving to Rio next month. I've been to Rio once in 2003 and figured it would be nice to live there and do some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training.

Any ideas on getting an apt there? Craigslist?

Also what are the Visa issues for US citizens: ie how long can an American stay in Brazil after getting the Visa?

I would like to stay there like 3-6 months maybe more.

So you're leaving in a month, and haven't done any research regarding visa issues? And you haven't lined up a living situation even though you want to stay for up to half a year? Do you even know who you want to train with?

Obviously, you'll want to live near your dojo. Are you planning on working while you're there? Have you even really given this idea any thought?

Yeah, I have the training situation lined up. My plan is to live in Ipanema and train out in Barra Tijica.

As far as the visa issues, you can stay up to 3 months per year, but I've read they might grant you an extension up to 6 months per year.

Awesome. Just kind of sounded like you weren't all that informed. I know there are a bunch of posters that have spent time in Rio, but I can't say that I've spent any time there. Do a forum search for those posters.

Good luck with everything bud.
