Did you notice any difference between the girls in the North East and those in the South?

Wasn't sure the best place to put this, but Feminism is now being offered as an elective in Victorian schools apparently. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse...

So, I've been back in Melbourne for about 3 months after living in Sweden for a year. I've travelled and have a good understanding of foreigners.

I don't think Melbourne girls are inherently bad, and some of the stories here are overblown. The couples I know of are pretty equally attractive and there are definitely a fair amount of good looking girls here.

However, what really screws up Australia is that so many people live in two cities: Sydney and Melbourne - about 40% of the population (plus they are 600 miles apart). Add the other state capitals and you have basically 80% of the population living in a handful of megacities of sprawling size, all 500+ miles apart from eachother. This is basically unprecedented internationally.

This means that everyone lives in the same cities they grew up in, even when at university, so people don't move on from their high school cliques or develop the maturity required when you live out of home.

So, for a city the size of Melbourne - 4 million people - nightlife is basically dead. Cities of 100k people have more exciting clubs. Everyone hangs out with their high school friends and dates from an extremely small circle.

Additionally, extremely overvalued land prices mean many young people have given up on the idea of owning a house and starting a family. Without this objective, why look for a serious relationship, and even why bother with guys?

True, some of these factors can be overcome by being from overseas, but I think Australia is fundamentally a poor choice of location to find a mate.

This is very true. Australians have this tendency to always hang out with the same grp of ppl whenever they go out and go back home with the same ppl as well. Any kind of sex that happens is going to be within the same grp of ppl. Its kind of like everybody in the grp bangs everyone else. I never see any approaches by guys perhaps bec of this. I thought this was restricted to small cities but if this happens even in Melbourne, then I have nothing left to say...

But what I am curious to know is how this will affect girls' reactions to new guys who approach them when they are in such a grp of friends.

I live in a small town so I'm used to this happening, but I've generally found that if guys are prepared to put in the effort.....to type the words "group" and "people" on RVF where textspeak is banned, it generally helps.

Just go to back packer bars. The girls are hotter and have less attitude. You can easily survive in Australia without ever having to fuck an Australian.

Unfortunately, I am living in a small city not frequented by tourists at all. It seems social group game is the way to get laid for the local lads. I just don't see guys approaching here both day and night.. but being a newbie I got to try more before passing a full judgement.

My observations so far are that college chicks are friendly only if you are in their circle. And I dont actually see a lot of them hooking up with random guys in parties or after a big night out. It seems that they always have a predetermined person to bed at the end of the night who they already know. What are your experiences?

So, I am curious to know if there is a difference in attitude between college aged chicks and those slightly older in their mid 20s. For a mature student at uni, which do you reckon would be a better shot?

Thanks for the replies.

No and yes. They're not altogether closed off to non-social circle game especially if they can see that you're one of them — another student or look like it; and more to the point, of the same "ilk".
You're kind of right on your second point, though you might want to elaborate on yourself. It's true though that despite the prevalence of Tinder and OKC etc, the great majority of hooking up is through social circle.

Will it help massively? Yes. Are you shit out of luck if you're moving in any? No.

Yeah kind of. I'm in the same boat as you, and I agree that you're kind of caught between two worlds so to speak. You don't quite fit in with the 18-23 year old fresh-out-of-school crowd — especially in mentality. But neither might you necessarily be accepted as one of the graduate corporate set — which you aren't.

You're in Launceston right? Any chance you could switch unis to somewhere this side of the Bass Strait? [Image: undecided.gif]

Unfortunately, I will be based in Launceston for the next 2 yrs as what I am studying is quite unique to the uni here. Would there be any difference between the ladies on either side of Bass Strait? Heard that they are all the same everywhere in Aus major cities with very slight differences.

Since it seems we are in the same boat, I am curious to know which crowd you game in?

I'll be in Melbourne and potentially Brisbane in May

I'm definitely trying to get some flags in Australia, my co-worker has a gf that lives in Australia that he goes back to see every now and then. He says as long as you say hey what's up or something simple they'll be amazed that you're American and they'll wanna talk to you. Is this true?

I'm planning to hit the nightlife hard to get something. Will be traveling solo.

I know only a handful of Tasmanians, which honestly isn't enough to have a glimpse into their social mores.
There probably isn't a whole lot of difference, especially between the capitals. Having said that, Melburnians like to think that we're a special breed, and indeed, interstate Australians who have moved here have expressed their feelings about the overt cliquishness of Melburnians and how we're a bit more elitist and judgemental.

Generally hipsters and creative types. I've focused on internationals in the past, but realised I either didn't click with them, or that I was better off given my circumstances to concentrate on local social circles.

I figured, he was probably speaking more about Brisbane since that's where he goes to visit his chick, but still, I was sorta skeptical. He said "as a black dude girls will be kinda like huh, then realize you're American and start chatting you up"

I'm sure they don't care about race or whatever just gotta make sure you have good game and stand out from the rest in a good way, pretty much like anywhere else

also heard a lot of stories from military dudes about how open the women and up front the women are but I take those with a grain of salt. My friend in the Navy went there on a ship and knocked up a chick out there, didn't know until 7 years later he got a letter from a secretary of some lower level govt official. He takes care of the kid he says and keeps in good contact with her (the kid is 17 now) but he says to this day he doesn't know how the family tracked him down, since he gave the mom a fake first name and didn't exchange numbers with her

It seems to me that that Aussies in general do not care much for Americans. I would say get into a social circle as soon as possible. That might increase your chances much more as compared to cold approaching, especially in Melbourne.

so after two weeks in Melbourne and a couple of days in Brisbane, I got a flag in Melbourne

Italian-Aussie off tinder. Older than me by 8 years. She actually let me stay with her in Melbourne once I told her I didn't like Brisbane, so I went to back to Melbourne for the puss..

I ruined a chance due to logistics with this cute Brit from Leeds in Melbourne :/

I was doing a decent bit on Tinder, wish I would've stayed longer to see how many more flags I would've gotten

met another girl off Tinder in Melbourne but didn't f-close, but I'll be back come January to stay with her and eat her snacks.

Didn't get any luck in Brisbane, those girls weren't that cute from what I discovered.

Is Spice Market and YoYo still around? Haven't been in Melbourne since 2013 but back then these were the best places for Thurs and Sat respectively.
Reply

Yes, still around. Things have changed now I would say there are different areas that pop depending on the night. Wed/Thurs - Fitzroy/Brunswick, Fri/Sat - Chapel/CBD, Sun - Chapel/CBD. Emerson, CQ, Seven, Sorry grandma & love machine

Spice is still going on Thurs night.Circus on Sat night has alot of young hotties.Same with Waterside Hotel rooftop and CQ.I mean shit we have some real hot under 25 chicks .And some of the best blondes..according to my Sydney mates
Billboards on Thurs again young hotties.
Long Room will close down over xmas for a refit.
Carlton club still good.
Bond bar is good Saturday I'm told and Club 23 at Crown.
I never go Brunswick...Although Night cat is good if you like the latin music in Sunday night.
Ms Collins is a must for black dudes on Fri.Sat if you like Asian chicks or are Asian.Latin Thursday

We do have hot young chicks but it seems to fall off alot after 25.Also I think Sydney has a better all age, all nations mix.

Another place that surprised me this year is Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast.Again women out number men.The joint made my dick hard..Go off season like April..The joint has really cleaned up and all the shit heads are going to Bali now.

Don't give me but all the guys are tall and jacked shit please.Calm down and keep on gaming.

My Melbourne attitude has changed .Winter is a cunt but as soon as it gets hot it's on.Also check the calandar for interstate long weekends.Heaps of chicks from interstate come in for girls weekends away.
Perth chicks slutting up.Also alot more Sydney birds heading down now.
I spoke to a bouncer on Chapel and he told me they use to see 25 to 30 NSW people through the doors on a weekend. Now 70 to 100 are rocking up sometimes everynight of the weekend due to their stupid lockout laws.
Honestly I concentrate mainly on the interstate and internationals up for it.
