Las Vegas on the Cheap

Oh yeah, I've stayed at the Hyatt a few times, its a block off the strip behind The Cromwell, its pretty dead (really dead) but if you can get a cheap room there its fine since its easy to walk to the center strip. Sometimes the bidding hotel websites like to put it in there as a 4 star hotel on the strip so people get funneled in there though.

Thanks for all the advice so far ... its looking very helpful. Never thought of creeping outside of clubs... I like it.

If you like that tip, try to go outside the daytime pool parties from around 5-7. You'll find good traffic there AND there are sometimes girls waiting for their friends. The EDC one cost $80 the last time I was in Vegas so if you're a low budget playa, fuck that.

The problem with that is the strange exits at the pool parties. At Wet Republic, you have to go through this weird exit and right outside of the Wet Republic entrance area where you end up rarely has any cabs, meaning you usually have to walk through the regular MGM pool, through the lobby of the hotel and to the taxi lines.

At Encore Beach, unless you have a Wynn hotel room key, they won't let you exit into the hotel, you have to exit out on Las Vegas Blvd then walk over to the taxi stand.

Its kind of strange. I wonder if one were to wait in the drop off area (there is a roundabout area for the hotel/condo there) of Wet Republic while "waiting for someone" if some girls would want a ride back to their hotel. Girls get separated all the time too.

Hey Drazen, thanks for the 411. I haven't been to those specific pool parties but the one I was referring to was at the Cosmopolitan, I think the 2nd floor, inside the hotel right outside the club exit. You can try to catch those girls coming out. But you are right in that the actual hotel exit should be taken into consideration but then you could also argue that XS is a terrible place to try and pull since you gotta walk a few minutes to get to taxi area? Ideally, you gotta have a room in the hotel but oh well, if you're a low budget playa, you gotta do what you gotta do.

So I've seen SLS a (relatively new) hotel, and wanted to know if anyone had any feedback. It seems to be right in the middle of a bunch of clubs and within walking distance to a few top tier hotels, and the pics online look nice.

I'm booking today or tomorrow and right now I'm up in the air between SLS and Treasure Island.

The SLS isn't good walking distance of anything. The area is pretty isolated from the main strip.

There are clubs inside the hotel and if you're going to those clubs, that's the only reason you should go. Otherwise, your taxi fares will be expensive (although I do believe they have a monorail you'd have to check if its actually up and running though)

SLS is interesting. On one hand, its dirt cheap right now; I saw two queen-bed rooms going for $150/night on hot weekends, which is basically unheard of for a hotel as nice and new as the SLS. Also, the main club inside, LiFE, is a pretty hot spot right now, with resident DJs including Steve Angello and Fedde Le Grand. A friend of mine just got back from there, and said that the girls there were hotter than what he usually sees at XS or Hakkasan. There's technically "4 clubs", but one of them is just the day version of LiFE, another one is also a dayclub, and Sayers is a really small place; at night, LiFE is really the only club that matters. The Umami Burger there is worth stopping by, especially if you haven't been to the one in LA; its a sportsbook/restaurant with a pretty cool vibe.

On the other hand, its about 1.5 miles away from the north end of the Strip, so cab fares will add up if you want to hit the city several times, and it may be tricky to pull a girl back from the main clubs. The SLS is obviously fancy, but a 5 mile round trip feels like 50 miles when you're in Vegas. Also, the place is basically a replica of LA - all of the restaurants in there are based on popular spots in LA (Umami, 800 Degrees), and it's owned by SBE which is a huge LA nightlife conglomorate - I think they own 10 clubs here. It's a mini LA.

I may consider staying there on a short Vegas trip in the future, just hitting LiFE at night with picture perfect logistics. But, part of what I love about Vegas is being right on the strip. Its a unique feeling that wouldn't be replicated at SLS. SBE spent $415m building the hotel. As of now, it looks like the developers miscalculated how many people feel that way - it could possibly go bankrupt later this year

I think I mentioned this in another Vegas thread, but I will likely be traveling there later this year to visit family and friends for a few days. I'm going to try to pipeline all the women that I will be meeting and don't have any plans to go out sarging. So, in my case would staying downtown be a good option?

I think if they are local, yes. I tried that last summer with girls I had met out in LA that lived in Vegas but I couldn't get any of the girls to come to the strip, I had to meet them at bars downtown at some of the hipster bars or some music festivals/concerts out that way so I just wrote it off.

As for the flasks they do not pat you down during the night venues the day pool parties they always pat hard down. So if you're hitting night and venues flasks are okay. I suggest you get a plastic flask if you lose only a few bucks and if they do pat you down it doesn't feel hard.

I would highly recommend that you hit the day clubs for some reason they have way more girls there almost all the day parties are way better plus you don't have to be out till 6 am in the morning. If you can't pull that day try to meet the girls that you meet at the day clubs at night venues.

Agreed and you can't really bring anything into the pool parties other than your wallet, keys, and your phone.

Pretty dead if my memory serves me right, I think I've gone once or twice. You have to figure this is one of the two days of the year any girl with any catholic/christian religious association goes to church on Sunday even if they aren't religious.

I think the Jewish Passover is around that time as well.

I just did Vegas for an extended stay. I can't comment on hotel prices, as I stayed with friends who live out there, but I can chip in some insights for the questions asked.

For cheap eats... consider hitting the Fukuburger food truck. Fuck man, the kinoko burger "with grilled shitake mushrooms, pickled red ginger, teriyaki, and finished with wasabi mayo"--one of the best burgers I've ever had! They've got a website and twitter.

As for SLS, fuggidaboudit. I've got inside connects who confirmed that they are losing lots of money (if they start giving away the rooms cheap, well then). I thought Life was shit, too. Whomever is saying the chicks are hotter than XS, Hakkasan... Sorry man, but no way. I went to all of them, and it had by far the ugliest crowd. It's a black club (the design) with a boring box layout (supposedly L.A. industrial or something, lol.) The location is not good either. It's up on the way to Stratosphere, basically. If you want the Strip, I wouldn't go past Encore.

City Center (Aria/Cosmo) is where it's at. (Now I'm not saying it's cheap to stay here, but it's a great place to go/hang out). It's modern, big and airy, glitzy, good looking people everywhere. It just feels good. Pull a chick back to hers from one of the casinos, lounges, lobbies, clubs here and you're golden. I hate to give this away, but the "hidden" pizza place up the escalators above the entrance to Marquee is one of the best pick up spots in Vegas. I'm not kidding. Hordes of sexy drunk girls coming from the club for a slice. There's even a pool table and lots of comfy seating just outside.

Forget about drinks at the club. I would do drinks or flask it beforehand. You won't get patted down by anyone at nightclubs from what I saw. I personally wouldn't, but it should be possible to take one in, get a drink and then refill yourself in the corner or whatever if you wanted to go that route. Ideally, you're getting walked in by your guy, he's getting tipped and passing you some drink tickets (connections probably needed here, I admit, but if you got 'em...) Hot chicks are getting so many goddamned drink tickets from the promoters that you could try to game your way to getting her to "buy" you a drink, lol. Just swoop one who's at the bar pulling that pile of "business cards" from her purse.

Extra note: Mix(x) Lounge at the top of Delano (Mandalay Bay) has an awesome night view of the strip and some cozy couches on the outdoor patio for a date.

I agree. I don't think you are giving anything away. Most people who have spent some time in the Cosmopolitan know about that one. It's a similar strategy to G's taco shop game or Jersey Shore pizza game at Circle Pizza in Avalon, the place that used to be called T.J.'s in Stone Harbor, or Romeo's in my hometown. The product at the pizza place in the Cosmopolitan is decent, but wouldn't be top notch in New Jersey or New York. A telltale sign of that is that the guy behind the counter had absolutely no idea what I was talking about when I ordered a slice of white broccoli. The next time I go there, I will get there a little early, but one or two pizzas, ask some girls in the long line to come join me on the couches, and report back.

I second the Fukuburger for cheap quick eats. Don't have to tip, get everything for under 10 bucks or so and its in a pretty nice area. I went there twice during New Years weekend since I stayed pretty close to there. I think the Tacos El Gordo next to the Wynn closed unfortunately. However, you can also walk to the Peppermill from Wynn pretty easily (although drunk it might be a little sketchy).

Also a good place to eat cheap is in the basement of Bally's next to the Sportsbook. There's a Sbarro's and other pretty cheap options there, you can get combo meals under 10 bucks.

The line at the Pizza Place gets pretty bad at night with a line/wait the last few times I go. I like hanging where the pool table is outside STK. When I'm there, I usually just eat at Jaleo or Holsteins. Holsteins is pretty cheap for a sitdown meal, Jaleo a little more expensive.

Oh yeah, I also loved staying at the Vdara in City Center. Some of the room layouts are really different but I think pretty much all of them have a kitchen, which makes it economical for eating/drinking in your room. The rooms I've gotten have for the most part been awesome, had one with a separate bedroom, etc. They also have those awesome blinds that go down when you hit the remote control, really impressive if you have a girl over.

You don't miss much. It apparently closed a little over three months ago. I was there just weeks before it closed. The place did a huge volume, but he owner of Tacos El Gordo apparently had issues with the owner of the building. I can imagine how high the rent must have been for that place due to the excellent location.

Bet 25 cents to a dollar on video poker and get free drinks at any bar on the strip.

I lost 10 dollars over 3 days and got 20 drinks. Highly recommended

Yeah, I know. I was being a little tongue-in-cheek there.

I actually saw some dudes walking out with pies and taking chicks to the couches. I don't know if they were with them or pulled them, but your plan is solid!

I heard Fukuburger's physical location also closed due to some issues with the building, so they're just doing the food truck at the moment. Still great if you can catch it.

Good call on Vdara and the other eating spots.

Um...no. Nearly any video poker in a casino on the strip will require a $10 bet for a free drink. Sure you weren't at PT's pub? Edit: I just reread your post, I misunderstood. Yes you can place .25-1.00 bets and get free drinks but it's never less than a $10 minimum, usually $20.

Lots of good info here. The night Fisto and I went to Life, definitely would not call that top shelf, but that was a Sunday. However I've been to SLS probably 7 times now and it's definitely not worth your time if you're only here for a few days. Bazaar Meat is a great restaurant but very pricy. SLS is bleeding money but that's common with new casinos. Sam Nazarian is out, new management has taken over, and they are turning the place around slowly but surely. Just give it time.

It's dawning on me that there's Fri-Sat in Vegas, and then there's everything else.

Checked out Omnia last night. It was thursday so only the terrace was open. It's the hot shit right now and I'd say it's definitely not worth any cover (they wanted $30 per guy last night, it's probably 50-100 Fri-Sat), though I'd say that for any Vegas club. The place is beautiful and there's a killer view from the terrace, incredible sound system, they spent something like $100+mil on the club for shit like this:

Anyway worth checking out if you can get hooked up but otherwise probably not worth the cost unless you're a high roller. Last night the ratio was crap and the girls that were there were nothing special. Cocktail servers all 9s but disappointing talent otherwise. We'll see what it's like on the weekend.

I'd say don't dismiss the cheap spots on the strip for picking up younger broke girls. I met some friends at the Yard House in the Linq complex. Met a pretty smoking waitress that works at Tilted Kilt and got her number but she flaked...she's from L.A. surprise surprise...not much talent in Yard House but lots of younger cuties walking around Linq, worth a look.

Afterwards we were trolling Tao since they have a Thursday night and the talent walking out was pretty shitty. Met another girl at the downstairs circle bar where people exit Tao, local blackjack dealer, fuckable and she seemed down but a 6 at best. You definitely don't need to be in a club to be spitting game, and in some cases I think you're better off in casino bars when chicks leave the clubs and already have a few drinks in them.

I'll report back about Omnia but I agree that the top spot for picking up in casinos is still Cosmo. You can just hang at Vesper or Chandelier bar and drink bitters and soda, tip a few bucks, and if the scene sucks, just wait 15-20 minutes, girls are constantly coming and going.

"...so I gave her an STD, and she STILL wanted to bang me."

Hey guys, I'm considering taking a break from LA and moving to Vegas for one to two months. I tried looking on Craigslist and there are tons of places that advertise "close to the strip" but they're a good distance away. Anybody have any tips on a cheap hotel/apartment near the strip for a month or two?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for advice on where to stay in Las Vegas on the cheap. I'm trying to decide if I should get a place right on the main strip, which would be favorable logistically, or stay somewhere far away and get transport there.

I've never been to vegas so I don't know how annoying/expensive public transportation is, or really any other tricks for staying there inexpensively. I'm there for three days and willing to drop about $500-600 in total for food/transporation etc.

Obviously my goal is to fall in love with as many beautiful women as I can.

Thanks

Cheap and beautiful women don't really go hand-in-hand in Vegas. Drazen's post is solid, but at Treasure Island and Excalibur you're going to be looking at a bunch of fatties and families.

You can definitely stay at those places, but you'll want to be hanging out at Cosmopolitan, Aria, Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, etc. Odds of bringing a girl back to your budget room are slim, so you'll have to bullshit your way into her room. Drinks in clubs run about $15+, so pregame like a mofo, buy some cheap booze at CVS.

Avoid taxis, take the monorail. Restaurants inside casinos tend to be overpriced. There's a new Shake Shack that just opened up for burgers and beer. Avoid any of the tourist traps like Battistas and stick to sandwich shops like Capriotti's. Avoid buffets, the food is mostly crap and you pay $20-30 instead of having a $10-$15 meal at Shake Shack.

Search the threads and narrow down what you want to do/where to stay and post some ideas.

CVS for the win.

I disagree with the buffetts. Most hotels will give you a free or half of buffet in that packet of coupons and shit they give you at checkin, and you can go there and load up on lean proteins and vegetables.
Also, There is a chipotle next to harrahs if you can handle that.

The last time I was in Las Vegas (two years ago), the prices of the Chipotle (sub $7 chicken burritos) there were comparable to the locations outside of New York City. If that's still the case, then I find it hilarious how a Chipotle on the strip can be cheaper than one anywhere in New York limits.

Last time I was there I became a regular at this Chipotle. The prices on the strip were the same as the prices in my regular mall so it made for an incredible Vegas value.
