Hey guys. I'll start my first message with the usual "I am a long time reader" opening.
Since I have lived and partly am still living in Cologne since like forever, I'll share my first post on Cologne.
About myself: Mid 30s, decent looking, good shape guy that knows how to talk but not really big into daygaming, only if it is a warm approach and there have been signs of interest. Nightgame is more for me. My bonus factor has to be that I am really tall compared to the usual club and bar goers and I can pretty much stand out from every crowd ;-)
Kirdiesel seems to now what he is talking about since I can confirm a lot of venues he has mentioned.
Especially his info on Candyshop and Ivory being the top venues with the most beautiful girls is right on point. Expect a tough door selection but if you show up as a decent guy and hold a conversation, chances are high you will be allowed inside. Girls as company of course always helps. Candyshop is a little on the younger side and takes place further out from the city center, once a month in a big venue.
Pregaming / bars: I had really good experiences in the "belgisches viertel". Especially in the summer time when the life takes place outside a lot more. Just stroll around and find the venue which you like best if you look at the people. Mostly it will not take long to make some connections and have some decent conversations sharing some drinks.
Nightlife: Can be divided by the different areas it takes place.
-
Zülpicher Str.: More student area with the according younger guests. High potential and cheaper prices.
-
Hohenzollernring: Some posh clubs along the way with the classical EDM / RNB music. I would say avoid by any means. There is some potential in females but the crowds seem to be very rowdy and there s always some shit happening. Never really liked it but it can be your hunting grounds in your early twenties.
-
belgisches Viertel: There are numerous bars and clubs which are worth a visit and most of them dont even have an entrance fee. This area is my choice and I highly recomend. Door selection is a little tougher sometimes but not a problem if you are a decent human being. Plus there are options right next door.
-
Altstadt: Mostly breweries which can be really fun as well. But just not my cup of tea.
-
Ehrenfeld: A little more on the alternative side but can be a great time as well. CBE and the newer venue Buhmann are pretty good bets.
Carneval: I freaking hate the music but its always fun and if you dont get layed around that time (twice a year) than there is something seriously wrong with you
If anybody would like any new info or maybe even meet up => pm. I won't be frequenting this platform like a lunatic but am always willing to share and support having a good time.
