This is a question I've been meaning to ask for a while. A little back story...

Back when I was beta as hell, I would hate on sexually successful men, I would find any reason to put them down, in my mind. It was a coping mechanism for sure, and I've since not only stopped but inverted that feeling and turned negativity into learning.

One thing that I remember noticing from successful men was that they wore hats. I would comment on how this was "lazy" when going out, but it seemed to be a near constant trend.

I'd go out, there'd be one or two guys running game on every woman in the bar, and they'd always be rocking a hat of some kind, usually a baseball cap, fitted, backwards.

Now was this just my imagination or is headgear something that helps? Is it simply a matter of its easier then busting out the product and styling? Is a nice hat a DHV in that it expresses fashion sense?

TL;DR - Whats the communities thought on wearing a hat when you go out?

If you're pro-hat what type?

I wear a hat more often than not. I have never been one to rock styled hats such as fedoras...purely New Era fitteds, and I only wear hats of my teams/my state ...always representing NE OHIO!!!
When wearing the New Era fitteds, I think it is obvious that you want to avoid the teenager look; straight brim, tags and stickers on, sitting about halfway on your head. I like my bill to have a slight bend.

I really don't think it matters, TBQH, although I wear skullcaps all the time in the winter. Too damn cold around here.

I get pretty lazy with my hair though, and usually go the ultimate lazy route in the summer and just shave it off.

ha, i was just talking about this today with my future roommate. The dude always wears a hat when he is going to be around chicks. I'd wear a hat myself but i like how my hair looks too much

I just cut my hair and took it way to short, this is why I ask. Its a really plain "whiteboy" haircut and I dont like it.

Its to short to do anything else too, although I'm debating trying out the warrior stripe, but if I do that and I dont like it or it looks terrible a hat is going to almost a necessity

I have like 30 hats and probably 5 of them I wear frequently. Huge DHV and a nice prop, but I go for more stylish stuff and never wear baseball caps. Ever. Women are always grabbing them and putting it on themselves (if I don't do it first) so it's nice for the occasional opener, appearance, and prop while you're spitting game.

Part of my collection. I do belts now too, though more limited and some custom stuff. Just started on unique boots too.

I've only got one decent hat, the one I have in my avatar. My hair isn't long enough yet to work on its own, so I go out with it. It helps when I add my black BDU jacket. But as long I've some matching color to it, it appears I know how to dress myself. [Image: banana.gif]

Alright after reading through this thread and just some observation seems like headgear is worth a shot.

Also asked my LTR why it is that girls like guys with short hair and/or wearing hats and with out missing a beat her answer was "guys like that always look good because its a low maintenance look"

No, headgear does not help.

I'm not saying that some guys don't look good in hats (definitely not baseball hats though). But think about all of the successful charismatic alpha guys that you know that have never been seen in a hat. Now imagine all of the unattractive guys that you have seen who do wear hats. Simply, there is no correlation between hats and success. Its all about charisma and personality. Therefore, a guy with those characteristics, wearing a hat, will look good and will make the hat look good. But don't mistake is success being due to the hat, even the smallest amount.

I guess a summary would be: "The hat doesn't make the man, the man makes the hat!"

Btw, I thought that this thread was going to be about dating girls with medical headgear on. I clicked on the link ready to laugh. I was glad to see that it was about hats!

nice collection, I just started mine, i'm only about a dozen hats in. Only a few suit me so finding the right ones can be tough. I've found the same that women are always either commenting or grabbing at them to put them on. If you can pull one off I'd recommend each guy add a few to their wardrobe.

I agree you can just slap a hat on and automatically be awesome, but if sub concsioucly you think that the hat will help then its going to make the man that much better. And as Gmac pointed out (and I've personally witness myself) girls will use a hat as a way to open YOU. I've seen girls walk up to guys they dont know and grab his hat and put it on themselves.

What I think a lot of people don't understand is that when you're putting outfits together... certain items complement each other. Whether it's colors or a certain style, you can complete a unique look by adding a hat. That's why I have so many, I have quite a few different looks.

Yeah, but guess what? That only happens with guys they are attracted to for reasons other than the hat... (as an aside, my friend found his wife after she used that maneuver).

I have nothing against hats. I just don't think that they add to attraction if you aren't already acting attractive. But I agree that they don't take away from it, generally, (women are strange, some might think that a guy in a hat looks like a douche - but you cant account for that), and can act as a hook if she wants to open you anyway. But then you also might get an a girl that might give you extra points because she likes that style. But, in my mind, its a wash at best.

It all comes down to how it makes you feel. If it boosts your confidence, more power...

This is exactly my point. I picked up a "newsboy" style hat that really goes well with my overall look, and just because I know that I feel much more confident then I normally do, not that I didn't before, its just more so now.

Also my hair is a real pain in the ass and this is a much easier alternative.

I've also been told a couple times by girls that they actually dont dig guys who have "done up" hair because its a feminine characteristic to do that. Wearing a hat versus getting some product in your hair is a passive "I dont give a fuck" that women seem to notice.
