Delhi, India: Over half of rape cases filed are false

Interesting story I thought I would share with all of you from India Today.

Quote:Quote:

A trend among women filing false rape cases stands exposed with the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) revealing shocking statistics showing that 53.2% of the rape cases filed between April 2013 and July 2014 in Delhi were found 'false'. The Parliament had adopted strict laws last year to prevent crime against women.

The report says that between April 2013 and July 2014, of the 2,753 complaints of rape, only 1,287 cases were found to be true, and the remaining 1,464 cases were found to be false.

The report further revealed that between June 2013 and December 2013, the number of cases found to be untrue were 525. And in between, January 2014 and July 2014, the number of false rape cases were 900.

The Delhi Commission of Women further said it was investigating individual complaints of rape to ensure the victims get justice. However, it added that in many cases, the complainant turned hostile, and that revenge emerged to be the most common reason for filing a false complaint, DNA reported.

In all, in 2013 there were a total of 1,559 cases of rape in Delhi, where the acquittal rate was 78%. This was a 22% jump from the earlier 46% of acquittal in 2012, when there were a total of 680 cases filed.

The report comes in the wake of the Allahabad high court directing a CBI probe last month into the complaint filed by a woman judicial officer against two relatives. The court wanted the probe to ascertain whether the officer was "misusing her official position", or there was a genuine lapse of security at her house at the Jugdes' Compound at Aligarh, an area with round the clock surveillance and security. Last year, a Delhi court said that it was "becoming a very difficult job, now-a-days, for the courts to differentiate the genuine rape cases from the false ones", while acquitting the four of a family accused in the case. Last week, the Jaipur police busted an extortion racket run by a woman who threatened men to pay her or face a rape complaint.

Shamina Shafiq, of the National Commission of Women, said that she was not aware of the investigative report, but said that the revelation was quite unfortunate. "It is sad that people are misusing the rape laws to settle scores, while there are so many women who have nowhere to turn to in genuine cases. How will they gather the guts if this turns out to be the trend? A victim's family will also dissuade her from complaining," said Shafiq.

India has major issues with credibility in this area, among others. Call me skeptical, but I don't believe this one bit.

Personally, I would love to see how many of the rape accusations in the USA or EU are false.

In the past 20 years radical feminists have relentlessly lied and manipulated the legal system to re-define normal, consensual acts of sex as "rape".

So of course 50% of all rape accusations are "false" because the definition of rape being pumped into the heads of most women is a false definition of rape, according to the law. When those women claim rape, and present their evidence, every lawyer, judge, jury, or police department in the world will classify their claim as false. Because it is false. Legally and morally, what they are claiming as "rape" is in fact not rape at all.

This problem will never be fixed and will keep growing as long as feminists are allowed to continue lying and distorting normal consensual acts of sex are rape.

Alternatively, we could have a world war in which radical Islam or other equivalent woman-hating religions take over and throw women into REAL oppression. In the US what's most likely is that Mormons and evangelical christians take over society and provide a softer, but just as oppressive, social view towards women.

Radical feminism is leading the women of the world right over a cliff.

They don't have any cases where they're not sure? These are muddy situations. If you have a methodology that doesn't distinguish been cases that are clear cut, and situations where you don't know the answer, you have a flawed methodology.

I don't know all the links off hand to back this up, but India is one of the few places in the world where rapes were not only commonplace, but these beyond thirsty men would chase and harass any white women in some of the remote areas. I recall reading an account of some white couple doing some work in there, and the husband was upset because they were threatening to rape his wife if she were caught alone. My own pastor who does alot of missionary work in India says that it is very foolish for women to be alone in India, and he is pretty far from being a whiteknight on women. The stories he told me about the female aid and religious workers our church is affiliated with were pretty bad. That whole "rape stare" meme came from Indian men staring at women like that for a reason.

Look at what the US state department has to say about it. They don't issue these warnings and cautions for political reasons. I cannot think too many other countries where there is a section on rape dangers like India does. Maybe some African ones that are very unstable perhaps.

http://travel.state.gov/content/passport...india.html

The section on sexual assault:

Quote:Quote:

Sexual Assault: Travelers should be aware that there have been reported cases of sexual assault, including rape, of U.S. citizens traveling throughout India. U.S. citizens, particularly women, are cautioned not to travel alone in India. Women traveling in India are advised to respect local dress and customs. Customary everyday dress for Indian women throughout the country is conservative, and even more so in non-urban areas, with women wearing clothing that covers their legs and shoulders. Exceptions are vacation resorts catering to foreign clientele and some neighborhoods of the major cities of New Delhi and Mumbai. Western women, especially those of African descent, continue to report incidents of verbal and physical harassment by individuals and groups of men. Known locally as “Eve-teasing,” these incidents of sexual harassment can be quite frightening and can quickly cross the line from verbal to physical. Sexual harassment can occur anytime or anywhere, but most frequently has happened in crowded areas such as in market places, train stations, buses, and public streets. The harassment can range from sexually suggestive or lewd comments to catcalls to outright groping. Following the December 2012 brutal gang-rape and subsequent death of a young Indian woman in New Delhi, the Government of India has focused greater attention on addressing issues of gender violence. One outcome has been greater reporting of incidences of sexual assault country-wide, and Indian authorities report rape is one of the fastest growing crimes in India. Among large cities, Delhi experienced the highest number of reported crimes against women. Although most victims have been local residents, recent sexual attacks against female visitors in tourist areas across India underline the fact that foreign women are at risk and should exercise vigilance.

Women should observe stringent security precautions, including avoiding use of public transport after dark without the company of known and trustworthy companions, restricting evening entertainment to well-known venues, and avoiding isolated areas when alone at any time of day. Keep your hotel room number confidential and make sure hotel room doors have chains, deadlocks, and peep holes. When possible, travel around the area with groups of friends rather than alone. In addition, only hire reliable cars and drivers and avoid traveling alone in hired taxis, especially at night. Use taxis from hotels and pre-paid taxis at airports rather than hailing them on the street. If you encounter threatening situations, call “100” for police assistance (“112” from mobile phones).

The court system in India is very corrupt and this is well known. This is alot like accepting a report from a fox that was in charge of some chicken cages.

I would suggest that they perhaps start using Facts, Logic, Evidence, and Due Process to prevent the system from being easily abused against innocent victims, and this problem will start taking care of itself.

This will never happen. What will happen will be that when the next major Global recession happens, India will revert to some radical form of religion and women will be even more oppressed than they are now.

I think there's a good chance that number is correct. Either way, I don't care that much. Thanks, feminism.

Legally and morally, what they are claiming as "rape" is in fact not rape at all.

While that may be the case across Western world, it does not completely apply to this side of the world.

Part of the reason why they are considered "false" is the intense pressure from police to not file charges, recalcitrant attitude of the police to file a case even if requested and the social stigma the victim's family has to endure. Because we go by historical scriptures, rape is considered a serious crime where the rapist is forced to marry his victim but there are also others where the victim kills herself.

Of course, this is across urban and rural areas equally. However, in urban parts, there is an additional enabler - presence of feminists and becoming emboldened due to recent rule changes enacted by the Supreme Court.

Some changes - A man can be convicted for rape if marriage was falsely promised, A rape accused could now be convicted on the sole evidence of the victim even if medical evidence did not prove rape to name a few.

of course, there are genuine cases as TravelerKai said and given how the media "portrays" news (similar to MSNBC, CNN etc..) dont be surprised if you see a quick retraction of this article as well as protests by women here in India.

Admitting to being raped in India brings shame on the woman and family, with a low likelihood of a honest investigation or prosecution, regardless of evidence. Why would a woman make it up? I do believe India has a true violent rape problem that needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, the loose definition of rape in the West skews our view and makes us skeptical.

I had posted this a while ago and I can't find the post just this minute, but I had claimed that the "real rapes" are happening in India all the time is propaganda and nothing more. There are just as many, or maybe more, rapes happening in Norway but nobody talks about it because it's the muslims, and it's Norway.

If you do not realize that there has been a systemic plan for atleast decades to keep India down as a land of barbaric snake-charmers then you have not been watching.

I am not at all saying that the problem is the same as American universities. There certainly are brutal rapes that happen. However every single case is highlighted in the media. It's almost like plane crashes vs. car accidents.

India is a sick society – there’s too much gender segregation and non-related men and women barely interact. A guy can get beaten to death by relatives if he tries gaming a woman in the villages. (My parents are from India). The only option for many Indian males in North India to have a sexual experience is:
  • Get married (arranged of course) and bang the wife - this won’t happen if the guy is poor.
  • Go to a whore.
  • Hope that some lonely female neighbor housewife will give it up when her husband is not at home.
  • Bang a distantly related female relative, that he does have access to, such as his cousin.
  • Have gay sex – not a big part of Indian culture as far as I know, but it’s common in many Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia. Gender restrictions in Afghanistan are even worse than India, and there’s a culture of banging young boys (Bacha bazi).
  • Rape a woman.
If a guy grows up in that culture, then of course he’s gonna end up messed up. This would happen to most guys raised in such a strict environment. Imagine the level of thirst in that culture...

Indian culture isn't just anti-game, it’s anti-enjoyment of life!

I wonder if any feminists are going to accuse the US state department of "victim blaming" for giving suggestions to women on how to avoid being sexually assaulted while traveling in Indian when the dept should instead be lecturing these thirsty Indian girls about rape culture and why rape is bad.
