Mastermind SEA - Guangzhou (local)

Hey Guys,

One of the best tools I've ever used for productivity was a mastermind group. I had it once a week back in Toronto, with a few good compadres and like minded individuals interested in business and self-improvement. For me simply put, productivity is synonymous with accountability.

Now that I'm in China and getting settled, I'd like to create a mastermind group here. Specifically in Guangzhou, as I'd like the members to meet up in person once a week. I am open to having some members Skype in from nearby countries. I'm sure the different lifestyles/cultural perspective would provide some great insight. Although I think that face to face time holds more weight.

In my opinion the ideal amount of members would be about 4 - 10 people at the most, as I'm sure we'd want to keep the meetings focused and down to about 1hr or less.

A little background.

Without going into too many details on this public forum, I'm assuming you'd want to know a little bit about me and what I'm doing at the moment.

I'm 22 years old, just finished studying Business Management in Toronto at the end of the summer. Moved to GZ in Sept. My family has been exporting products from China for over 15 years. We have 4 stores back home and like most it's a small business - it does make decent money but I think there's hell of a lot more potential there. I joined a mastermind forum called Enter China, I won't go into what it is here as there's thread on it already.

Here's a list of projects I'm working on or want to work on in the mastermind group:

1. Essentially trying to leverage my families experience/connections back home and here, to expand an already established business. I'm moving the business more into sourcing products rather than selling them. I got my first two sourcing clients a month ago.

2. I've got my own completely separate product I want to develop from scratch, starting Jan 2015. Which I will gladly talk about in person.

3. I started a podcast/blog with a few of the guys from the aforementioned T.O. mastermind group. It had gained quite a bit of traction, rising up the ranks on iTunes and got a few subscribers off an ROK article we wrote.

The podcast/blog has probably suffered the most from my transition. I haven't touched the thing in the past 3-4 months. Since I know we were able to grow it pretty rapidly in 3 short months and have astonishingly still gained more subscribers/visitors during our hiatus. The quality of our articles and especially interviews was improving too. I definitely need to get back on track with this.

4. I'm also studying Business Mandarin - pretty self-explanatory.

About Members/Meetings

Everyone's welcome, the more variation the better. I'm clearly still trying to figure out where my focus should lie so whether you've got no clue where to start or have been running a company for 20 years, I think a group like this can benefit you.

The initial members can collectively decide on the majority of the rules i.e. how many times a member doesn't show up/complete their tasks before they get kicked out. Some basic guidelines would be:

All Main Goals Should be Entrepreneurship Based
There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a career, hell I have a job as well. But this group is to help you be productive in financial endeavors outside of a regular 9 - 5.

Sub-goals are OK, i.e. going to the gym 4x a week, saving up cash to travel to Brazil or eating healthy food 6 days a week etc. However, the meetings will be focused on the main goals.

Create Long-term and Short-term Goals
Of course deciding to start a kitten clothing line is a long-term goal, in and of itself, but you need to break it down into actionable steps. 1 week goals, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year etc.

The meetings would be focused on your weekly tasks/goals which, if you complete will hopefully lead to your long-term goals being accomplished.

Alright guys I'm going to quit my rambling now. Let me know if you're interested and if you have any suggestions on how the mastermind group could run more efficiently.

Cheers

I wanted to vet my support for Mocha.

Full disclaimer he is a good friend of mine, but he introduced me to the Mastermind group in Canada (called NOX) and I fully credit it with a large amount of my supercharged productivity since August, which led to me starting a successful writing firm, as well as finishing up my first book for my blog.

If you're looking for support and accountability from like-minded guys trying to get their lives together and build businesses, consider this opportunity.

Mocha's a fun guy who likes to laugh (and fuck ONLY Russian women while living in China [Image: angel.gif]), but he takes his shit seriously.

I'm Skyping in after moving to Vietnam in February.

This sounds quite cool. I'm an entrepreneur/investment broker based out of Shanghai, and have been living here for the last 6 years. I'd be interested in participating via skype (although, really, you guys should be using wechat within china, especially for group chats), and potentially setting up a chapter here. Sent you a PM to discuss.

Good to hear, I downloaded Weixin (WeChat) before I moved here, of course it's extremely important arguably more so than a phone number in China. I just had my first GZ mastermind meeting mainly through Skype ins via the Enter China entrepreneurs last week. I look forward to getting in touch.
