Regarding the bunny, Peggy said she ate one... But two were missing.

Yes, I noticed that too, two missing chocolate bunnies when Lucy said she ate only one, and was appropriately confused.

The problem with David Lynch is that you never know what weird detail, behavior, or dialogue is significant, and what is there for weirdness sake. Or maybe that's an advantage, because it's kind of fun to try and figure it out.

I also thought "The Arm" was disturbingly strange, a Lynch/Frost hallmark reminiscent of "Eraserhead."

Just finished the first four episodes. After my initial reluctance to accept the change of look/feel/story, it's definitely growing on me.

Enjoyed the Mr Jackpot scene and like the bands/music at the end of the episodes.

I always laughed when he let that weird Helloooo sound. Btw, these bands at the end are reminiscent of that haunting sounding and cute chick that singed in the Bang Bang in the 90s.

Julee Cruise? Yeah she was becoming quite popular around the time of the original show. I thought that she might show up in the new series too.

She's listed in the 2017 cast. Her stuff from the original series ('The World Spins') and Fire Walk With Me soundtrack ('Questions in a World of Blue') were great.

She also had a weird/sexy quality about her (but God knows what she looks like now). Her scenes in the old show were so incongruous- soft, dreamy ballads played to a bar full of leather-clad bikers- yet, typical of David Lynch, it worked well.

My only criticism of him is that he does comedy very poorly, in my opinion. It always seems basic and slapstick and anti-intellectual, the very opposite of his normal writing. He did a TV show a long time ago, roughly around the time when the first Twin Peaks was ending, called "On the Air" about a 1950s TV station. Some of the TP cast was in it, too. While it did have a lot of Lynch/Frost moodiness, overall it was mostly heavy handed, unsophisticated comedy.

Although, that being said, "Dougie Jones" is sort of a funny character, and I like where his story is headed so far.

I'm not a huge DL fan, haven't really watched the series, but this will probably be good for those who have:

Jay's analysis of Twin Peaks, both original series and new episodes are a must read and watch for anyone who wants to understand series in its full capacity, opposed to the typical viewer who turns on the TV/computer, watches the episode and after just turns off without even thinking what did he/she watched. Jay is one of the few people who understands twilight language used in the series and kudos to him that he can explain the matter to population without them having background in esoteric.

Someday I'd like to able to run some Dougie Game. Dude just stares into space and doesn't say anything and bitches feed him and dress him, even doing his belt and tying his tie! Also closing the car door behind him when he just stumbles out. Definitely some advanced technique.

It's too bad we won't get to see the old Dougie in action - he owns his wife big time, she barely even cares when she sees the photo of him with his side whore. She probably suspected anyway. Game recognized.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing! The original "Dougie", as fat as he was, is definitely alpha (and that Naomi Watts ain't half bad, even at her age).

Damn fine thread.

Audrey was my favourite twin peaks gal. I hope there's a White Lodge after death waiting for me with coffee, doughnuts and 1990 Audrey Horne.

David Lynch, artistic genius, had a surreal mini series about a bunch of actors wearing rabbit heads titles Rabbits. The line, "it's not about the bunnies" (in at least one way) refers to this series, featuring Naomi Watts.

Audrey Horne was ridiculously hot, but I don't want to dismiss Laura from Fire Walk With Me either.

Rabbits scenes were also part of the movie Inland Empire, the last movie in the David Lynch Hollywood trilogy. They are a must see for two reasons. One is "official", for purely artistic sense, as like was said before Lynch is artistic genius. Second reason is "unofficial", in my opinion a main reason and that is revelation of the method.
I don't know if I mentioned here before, but I firmly believe Lynch was well informed about "satanic" Hollywood and where the real power lies.
His Hollywood trilogy completely represents that. He uses particular twilight language to show the viewers the truth. Jay Dyer gets it really good and I urge you all to read his analysis of Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive (unfortunately he didn't wrote Inland Empire analysis).

Twin Peaks on the other hand represents occult knowledge, masqueraded as a story about a murder of high school girl. America is an old place, but there are even older forces that run through it (evil in the woods). For example White Lodge and Black Lodge could be parts of what is called by western occultists "Astral realm". Also this space like dimension in episode 3 or 4 is also a part of it. Then you can see correlation in the series of electricity and paranormal phenomena, something that is prevalent in the stories around us. That is why its important Dale exists through the socket and because of car lighter socket Mr. C (Bob) has problems and vomits garmobozia. Switch on the bell maybe even changes current from DC to AC or vice versa.
The Box could be representation of science in connection with occult, and their actual symbiosis at some level ; something that requires a thread for itself.

Time to revive this thread a little with an analysis of last night's episode.

Ummm... what the heck was that? Perhaps a sort of homage to "2001 A Space Odyssey", where the weird visions revealed upon entering the nuclear explosion cloud are sort of the equivalent of Dave Bowman entering the monolith at the end (even down the the intense, string-filled music)? However, there was also a story in the flashback scenes, almost as if a new plot is developing, rather than attempting to wrap things up the way Kubrick did (in a very obscure way, of course) in "2001."

You never know what's around the next corner with Lynch and Frost, which if I had to pick one thing is probably what I love most about their work, but it's getting difficult to keep the various plot threads in order.

^ This was a great episode, they basically explained the origins of Bob and his gang!

Here's my take: back in 1945 a nuclear explosion was tested on earth. With all the warped atoms, an anomaly in the form of an evil spirit emerged (Bob, shown to come out of the insides of the explosion). The atomic explosion probably warped him from his home planet to earth (explained in a moment).

Remember that Bob is "the evil that men do" (a quote from season 2). Lynch is a pacifist, so it fits him perfectly to have Bob come out of 'the evil of the atomic bomb'.

On a distant planet (alien activity as the source of the black lodge gang is mentioned several times in season 2), the giant gets an alert that 'something bad happened' (his device is sounding an alarm).

He goes upstairs and sees what happened on earth on his screen (the bomb, and bob, who is probably from the same planet as he, coming out of it). To balance Bob, he forms the bubble with what would later become Laura Palmer, and sends it to earth.

It could be that the insect that crawled into that girl's mouth is what came out of that bubble, and would inhibit souls throughout the years until it eventually will make its way to Laura.

Remember Bob wanted to "take Laura's soul" (FWWM movie), and killed her since she refused. He was obsessed with her specifically since she was basically his nemesis.

We actually got some answers in this episode, so I really liked it. Obviously we got a bunch of new questions as well.

This is my personal interpretation.. feel free to debate.

I have a different interpretation but I like yours. Bob was a human and when he died he became in service to the Arm or Man from the other place (red dwarf) demon. Same thing was with Mike, but Mike repented. They were both serial killers and rapists in real life and when they died they become Black Lodge spirits. This is official what I said. Bob killed Laura because he couldn't possess her, because she put a green ring on her finger.

I think that Lynch wants to express one line of thinking which I support, and that is that aliens are same as BL spirits. There is no clear line where you can separate alien and BL spirit.

As I research occult I see a lot of references with literature I read and some experiences I had. I put waiting room, room with socket, house of the Giant and all these locations we saw in one universe which is connected with ours with electric current.
Electric current plays huge role in Lynch's movies and when something messes it up its a sign of this other universe.

Interesting questions:
- what is hybrid insect/frog?
- is Laura something akin to Jesus?
- what is the white beast that killed couple when it emerged from glass box, we saw it again now?

^ Bob and Mike "lived among the people", however they were "inhabiting spirits", as Mike said.

Also remember the dialog from that same season 2 episode:

Cooper: "Is Bob with us now?"
Mike: "for nearly 40 years" ..which pretty much fits the date of the explosion.

I think Lynch tied a few things up pretty nicely here, which is actually not typical of him haha.

Mother could be actually mother of evil. I look on whole thing as 18 hour movie and we will see real answers only in the last third of the "movie". While we may talk theories in the end I think we will got lots of things wrong.

^ If you are referring to "my mother is coming", that's an interesting theory that she's the mother of evil.

That place (from episode 3) had identical element to the place (the 'alient planet') in this episode: the dark ocean, the power pole and the darkness with a storm of 'white dots' on the way there.

So that planet may have both good and evil spirits (we know the giant is good, the woman that helped Cooper go through the socket is good, her mother is bad, Bob is bad).

As for the glass box, it's likely a pit stop between the alien planet and the black lodge. That creature inside may have been one of the evil spirits in transit, but of course we'll have to wait and see.

PS In the midst of the nuclear explosion in this episode, we see a convenience store getting populated with people in 'black lodge style' motion. That explosion have brought a bunch of evil spirits to earth.. chief among them Bob (as we clearly see him get transported), and probably also Mike who as we know "lived above a convenience store" with Bob, and also with the dwarf and some others (according to Jeffries in FWWM).

I am seeing a very interesting idea in the imdb reviews for this episode. Basically people analyze it more or less the same as above, but someone adds:

"As a response to [Bob] and in order to keep things in balance, the Giant and the wife create a creature that is going to become Laura Palmer. The young couple in New Mexico must be Laura Palmer's future parents, Leland and Sarah Palmer [Sarah digests the creature]."

Brilliant!
