The Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) Date Bang Data Sheet

Want to save money and get your dates drunker?

You've come to the right place. Welcome to the

Bring Your Own Beverage Date Bang
  • Step 1: Locate a BYOB venue near your house. The easiest way is to type 'BYOB' into Yelp and peruse the results. When you find one that looks good, search the reviews for 'BYOB' and see if the reviews say the place is BYOB. Feel free to give the venue a call to confirm. I recommend a mid-priced venue - you will be ordering dinner, and the savings on drinks will be wiped out by the cost of dinner if it's a pricier spot.

Bonus: Set up the date later, like 8 PM, and she may even eat dinner beforehand, leading her to eat lighter - so a smaller bill for you and the alcohol hits harder. Just make sure the venue is open 90 minutes or more after the date starts. And have her park by your house and walk from there.

Often, venues without a license to serve alcohol will offer free BYOB.

Step 2: When setting up the date, tell her you are going to this fun BYOB spot you just heard about, and ask her what she likes to drink.

    Sample convo:
    • You: I just found this little Thai place that's BYOB
      Her: Oh that sounds cool!
You: What do you like to drink?
Her: Oh god, I love Wild Turkey
Step 3 (optional): Tell her you will bring something, and she should bring something as well. Then on the date, proceed to drink her stuff first.

Step 4: Proceed according to this thread.
You obviously have less choice in venues this way, so the restaurant's bang shui may not be as favorable as your favorite watering hole. I sit next to my dates, but it can come across a little weird unprompted. So before I sit down, I say something like "Do you mind if I sit next to you? I have a soft voice and I don't want to have to shout across the table."

You should finish a bottle of wine easily. You can mix a whole bottle of cocktails, just make sure it's something she likes. Margarita is a decent option, because you can buy pre-mixed margarita, and then use the empty bottle to house your homemade margaritas with 20-30% alcohol instead of 10%. Coming in with a ziploc bag of red fluid might set off alarms though.

Simple margarita recipe: 4:2:1 blanco tequila: lime juice: simple syrup (1:1 sugar and water simmered together until homogenous). Recipe here: http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-pure-mex...chn-188010

The Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) Date Bang Data Sheet

Lots of BYOB places near my house, so thanks for this thread. The problem I have with it, though, is the whole idea of taking a girl out to a restaurant on the first date. I had a few first dinner dates that went nowhere where I had to foot the bill. Just kind of felt like a sucker after that. I see zero correlation between money spent on a girl and whether or not she wants to fuck. My 3 most recent lays were after having one drink at a cheap bar and then quickly bouncing to my place. None of the first dinner dates I had recently led to sex, but that's just my experience.

I see how this could work:
-As a great idea for a second date, so you know the girl has already seen you in person and is interested.
-If you tell the girl to bring a bottle and you'll pay for the dinner, but I'm not sure how to phrase it in a nice way. "The place is BYOB, why don't you bring a bottle of wine, and the dinner is my treat" - that kinda sounds too cheap/calculating. What would you guys say?

Also, thanks for the tip about the soft voice and sitting next to the girl. I used to say "It's kind of loud here, let me sit next to you". That works for bars.

Say, "how about an alcoholic potluck, and we both bring something to drink."

I recommend divier restaurants so they don't get into the food as much. Around me, drinks are pricey, so I'm effectively getting dinner for free from the savings, if not more.
