Essentials for a Road Trip

Hey guys! So I am making a long ass journey from Texas to Raleigh, North Carolina (1300+ miles). I've never made this long of a trip before and was wondering what are the things that I should be keeping in mind, items that I need to carry, safety tips, etc.
All advises are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Assuming here that this is not a speed run and that you will have leisure time. Also, assuming you have a copilot.
- A comprehensive playlist. Nothing like being stuck in a car with only an old cassete tape.
- Car chargers or a 12 to 110 converter to keep your devices juiced.
- Take the scenic route. If theres a mayor landmark, historic site, or interesting sight close to your route, take it. You might not be anywhere near again.
- Take a lot of pictures. Also, take pictures with you in them.
- Dont dress down.
- Dont push yourself, take it slow, stop if feeling tired.
- Contrary to what he might say, copilot is not in charge of the music. His job is to change the song, not choose it.

Bring healthy snacks, as you drive eating something actually helps me keep awake, I know it sounds weird. But it is the boredom that makes me fall asleep.
Water, lots of it.
I am sure you have thought of this, but figure out your itinerary. And check the weather. Need to be responsible.
Check your spare. Know how to change a flat.
This is just me, but I don't speed in small tiny places. On major freeways with everyone speeding sure. But if you are going through one stop sign towns, just fucking obey the speed laws, a few extra minutes of driving is better than any fucking headaches you might get from some reject from the Dukes of Hazard.
Make sure your car is in good operating condition, get it checked out, hoses, air pressure etc. Broken taillights, etc.
Edit: I also believe there are sites that tell you where cops are hanging out for speeding. Might be useful for you.

Good driving shoes. Usually 'minimal' shoes that have little sole or upper. I bought a pair of Vibram 5 fingers and could only bring myself to wear them when I drove. They actually make good driving shoes. So do wrestling shoes.
Also use Waze and prop your phone on your dash.
