Pictorial Data Sheet : Central / Eastern Europe

Overview

This was a whirlwind trip. It was not ideal for maximising lay count (only 2 notches in 2 weeks) but very good in running reconn on some cities I have always wanted to visit for many years.

General observations : hard to find obese people, kebabs and gyros dominate with stores everywhere in all countries, train travel is not as expensive as I thought (far cheaper than UK), beer is cheap and very good (best beer is Starvaro Brno), girls are attractive, high culture and philosophy is lauded, clubs stay open late, Nazis and Soviets were brutal and oppressive, Air BnB is the way to go, some cities are overrated, some are underrated. A very worthwhile trip all round.

I took many pictures but opted to choose just a few that I think captured the essence of my experience.

Budapest

Szimpla Kert bar, the most famous of the "ruin pubs". Voted top 3 best bars in the world, and not undeservedly. Best bar I have ever been to due to idiosyncratic character of venue without seeming overly try-hard, multiple service areas, multi-level, open garden yet part covered in case of rain, good music, always busy.

Hungarian talent at Ötkert. Tried to chat up, had a bf.

Ötkert on a Saturday night. There are a lot of dudes at this venue and the hot girls are not exactly easy to swoop.

Budapest municipal authorities doing their best to stamp out bad game.

Bratislava

An enjoyable view from Bratislava's bustling promenade.

Bratislava club proudly showcasing its feminist credentials. Unpleasant nose and flat asses sadly a feature of many Slovak girls.

Vienna

Pratersauna, a very cool club. Music is incredible. Volksgarten, Passage and Loco also recommended as strong night options.

There are some hot Viennese girls but swooping girls at venues where people don't think of leaving before 5am can prove challenging.

Australian dudes. Their penchant for short shorts, flip flops, singlets and plain tees with little or no branding, sunnies and casual sprawling body language make them easy to identify at a glance.

View from gardens of Schönbrunn Palace - the Habsburg's summer residence - looking over the city.

Vienna on the Danube. Bratislava is just over 1 hour away further down the river making these the closest pair of capital cities in the world.

The Ring Circle is European opulence and grandeur at its finest. Opera houses, historic churches and women wearing expensive high heels abound. Despite all this Vienna is not too expensive if you stick to Air BnB accommodation, Czech beers and kebabs, saving the rest for clubs during your visit.

Brno

Not quite Prague. Phalluses rising from an industrial shithole.

Prague

Charles Bridge, Prague's most famous - picturesque yet insufferable. Pedestrian only, the tourists hordes are predictably loud, stupid and annoying, and many of them are Americans.

For Czechs their experience of World War II did not start with the invasion of Poland in 1939 but with the spineless betrayal of their allies, the French and the British.

Pub crawl in Prague on a Monday night. Miraculously I got laid but my advice would be to avoid. Vicious sausagefest, no Czech girls in sight.

Berlin

Berlin, feels like the best of Melbourne, London and Bangkok rolled into one great city. Hipsterish, loose and lawless, a centre of outstanding historical riches with a real buzz to it.

Known affectionately by locals as "Kotti". Some very good bars and nightlife in this area.

Let's play find somewhere to drink in Mitte, central Berlin...

In this fast food joint there is a nondescript door out back.

If the dude controlling the door lets you past, take a seat at the bar.

6am at Watergate, one of Berlin's most acclaimed clubs. Music is pumping, view is spectacular.

Entry can be difficult. Best to roll with Germans if you can't speak the language.

Paper perusing and people watching from inside one of Mitte's better coffee establishments. Talent in Berlin is definitely more than acceptable.

Flat White at Melbourne Canteen in Neukölln. Berlin is unsurpisingly Melburnians' city of choice.

Bear will stare you down on this bridge. Berliners love bears, a symbol of their city.

This is how European dudes dress.

Another discretely hidden series of bars ("East & West Berlin") round Kotti station.

This is the entrance. There are hundreds of doors that look just like this one but only a select few are the gateway to bars and clubs. A hot girl once told me over Tinder, "classy girls hate Berlin" - keep that in mind.

Riding the S-Bahn over one of Berlin's many waterways. The city has excellent public transport (open 24/7 on weekends) and is also accommodating of cars and bikes alike.

Berliner girls protesting the imminent extinction of the African elephant at the hands of poachers and the Chinese middle classes. WYB?

Love it. Great pics, thanks for posting. Berlin looks right up my alley and that bar in Budapest seems worth the trip in and of itself.

A super-specific question: any recommendations for bars/clubs/streets that are not dead during the WEEKDAY in Bratislava (Monday or Tuesday)? I know it's a bit of a tall order since I heard Bratislava is a bit sleepy on weekdays. I'm going to Vienna for a week and trying to decide whether to stay there the whole time, or do a side trip to Bratislava (which I can only do on Monday and Tuesday). When were you there?

Seems a bit silly to be so close to Slovakia and not go. On the other hand, it may be strategically better to post up in Vienna and build connections there. Decisions, decisions.

Thx again man. Love the pictorial datasheet.

My advice is stick to Vienna. It's a far superior city IMO.

I only spent one day in Bratislava (just to experience it, en route to Budapest too) but in retrospect I would have gotten more out of an additional night in Vienna.

I'd say Vienna is very underrated and under the radar. Nightlife is v good and strolling around in the daytime is a pleasure.

If you want to do Bratislava properly make sure you come back another time.

Yep. I couldn't get through Watergate's door when I went. Even though I researched the DJs name, I played it up and said I was on his guest list to the hostess (bullshit). I didn't think she would check, but she did. This night didn't go totally to waste though, as I met a Russian girl in line and eventually got her back to my place after an instadate. No bang though.

I also got FC'ed at Cookies, which had some pretty good talent going in (unlike Watergate). Befriend girls in line before trying to get in and ask them to tell the hostess you're with them, that's the general tip the local guys gave me - after I got denied, of course.

I went during the week but I would suggest a minimum of five days in Berlin to reap the benefits.

Cool sheet though. I'm very interested in Vienna for my next Eurotrip.

Innovative data sheet. Pictures can say just as much as words.

But what was your favorite spot for girls?

I hope this catches on. Having all those pics really helps in getting an idea about a place.

Budapest had the hottest girls by far. I saw hotties practically the moment I arrived at Keleti main station and continued to see them in abundance whether by day or night.

Hungarian girls had a bad rap on this forum but I don't see how that's possible.

There's a reason why so many pornstars and models come from Budapest - because they are hot.

Budapest talent typically is thin with decent sized breasts and good ass. Nose is sometimes large but commonly normal and better than you see in Poland and Slovakia.

^^ In the pic above is she German? I'd bang her all day as long as she wasn't a SIF (which I doubt). Just trying to figure out her nationality.

Berlin is a cosmopolitan city so lots of different nationalities there.

Anyone have a quick opinion on Budapest vs. Bucharest for gaming? Seems Budapest would be friendlier and easier, but Bucharest having hotter girls if you like brunettes.

Nice visual representation of your trip.

I have a question about Brno - you knocked it pretty hard in the caption. How was your experience of the city? Did you experience nightlife there? I'm thinking of spending a week there in November.

A week?
Unless you have business there ,I think that would be a complete waste of time ..maybe a Thu and spend the rest of the week in Prague!
