If you are simply going for weight loss, tim ferris's 4-hour body plan works well. You don't even need to do any cardio/go to the gym and you should see rapid fat loss through nutrition alone.
Roughly speaking it involves eating like this:
6 days a week: 3 meals per day of meat+vegetables+some beans/lentils (so minimal carbs).
7th day: cheat day - going mental on as much sugar/fast food/cake/pizza/etc as you want. No limits in type of food or quantity, anything goes.
Might seem crazy and counter-intuitive to gorge yourself on junk food one day a week, but it's actually a requirement of the nutrition plan to spike your insulin. And, as if by magic, your weight drops off fast - and you are never hungry because there is no portion control. You will get significant cravings though for carb-rich foods, which is what the cheat day is for.
So if your sole goal is fat loss, I suggest the 4-hour body. If you want gain muscle mass or go with something that is presumably more healthy in the long run, go with Mark Sisson or another paleo-like variation and hit the gym. I found that Mark Sisson's diet didn't work as well for fat loss though. Another bonus with the 4-hour body is that you can (and must) eat delicious crap food one day a week, so you don't have to give up foods you really enjoy eating and still lose weight (even though of course junk food isn't a healthy option).

Warrior diet. Heavy compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench presses and pullups 3-4 times a week.
This combo got me into single digit body fat percentages from 20% in roughly 6 months and muscular.

Have you personally been successful with this "diet?"

Yes, it was very effective. Was as close to finding a "magic pill" that I've ever experienced. I lost about 5 kg in the first 5 weeks, without having to go hungry, and absolutely stuffing my face on cheat day with dirty carbs. Started getting a 6-pack (I wasn't overweight to start with) appearing after week 6. By week 10 it was quite noticeable. After that I wanted to bulk up so I switched it up a bit (started drinking milk etc) and my weight went up quite a bit and 6-pack wasn't visible soon after. The bulking up part of the 4-hour body didn't really work well for me (didn't really gain that much and couldn't get myself to eat enough food and ended up quitting), but the fat loss worked like magic.
Later on, I tried Sisson's diet, and it was OK but I didn't see the 6-pack emerging in the same time frame and in fact it never happened and I ended up giving up on the diet after a few months since I was craving garbage food too much and wasn't willing to put in the willpower for rather small returns.
