Just buy fake leather jacket. Not many people wear real leather jacket these days. (sometimes I see that creepy black leather jacket)

Fake one is on trend. even designers are using the material. (it was a material for unknown brand back then)

It's easier to maintain. doesn't get scratched, doesn't get stained etc.

For us poor guys, what do you think about getting a leather jacket at the thrift store and then taking it to the tailor to get it fitted?
Altering leather jackets is not easy and not cheap. Distressed leather won't look good after alteration. I like thrift shops and with a bit of patience it's possible to find well fitted jacket there but you always must check the smell of it because again it's difficult to get rid of.

I know some people order cheaper custom-made suits and shirts in Asia (HK, Bangkok, etc). For those of us who travel to Asia, is there a similar thing for leather jackets? Either custom-made or perhaps cheaper standard ones?
Leather jackets aren't popular in SE Asia probably because of the local climate. Those that I saw in shops were tacky and overdone with detailing.
The only place that I saw in Bangkok a few years back was large corner shop on Sukhumvit Soi 11.

I have a military leather jacket a lot like this:

[Image: Black-S-Black-M-Black-L-Black-XL-Black-2...22_320.jpg]

However, I generally try to avoid wearing leather simply because of the hell I catch from my male siblings/friends. I've never really understood their hung up on leather. Has anyone dealt with similar reactions? My friends/siblings aren't PETA activists by any means either.

Anyways, I like wear black varsity jackets with wool in them.

Go to nordstrom. all famous designers have jackets with Faux leather.

Leather jackets are hard to find at retail clothing store.

You can walk into stores like wilson's leather but those are crappy in style.

I really want to get a leather jacket. They can be pricey. Should I go with black or dark brown?

I found it depends on man to man. Some guys look more r-selected in a light brown leather jacket, while others need rather a black one.

Put it on and ask the sales girl, which one is not a jacket a boyfriend would wear. Most women know what that means. When she thinks gangster as she looks at you, then you have the right one.

Schott and Avriex make nice jackets.

Anybody know where I can get a nice shearling coat made?

I don't want black or brown

What do you guys think of brown leather boots with a black leather jacket or vice versa? Yay or nay?

I just got myself this brown leather jacket similar to that Wire main detective:

Mine is just a bit shorter and slim fit as my muscles fill it in.

Don't know about the leather boots. I usually go for some heavy duty Sons-of-Anarchy-shoes (shoes I could go into combat or take a 100 mile hike in), some fashionable sports shoes (which do not even look like sports) or high quality ones when wearing a jacket or suit. Women do notice shoes - some of them complimented me on my shoes - heh.

I'm thinking the Allen Edmonds Dalton in walnut. I wonder if that would jive with a black jacket. I think it can as long as the belt matches the boots.

Looks faddy. Those shoulder zippers will be completely out of style in a year or two. They're already on the way out.

With trendy accessorial flashings like zippers-to-nowhere be careful that your r-selection doesn't go to g-selection (gay-selection). Easy to do & only rockstars generally can get away with that.

How do you guys rock it without appearing too old though?

For instance I'm 25 and every time I wear a leather jacket girls tell me "I look old." I recall a girl say that I look like a someone from the movie Grease.

This is the one I had

Reactionary, I bought a Schott last year, the brown bomber with the removable fur collar thing. I have to admit I dislike the fit, its too bulky and short. I bought the one you posted there initially, but it fit like shit (all of the coats are so damn short!) so I sent it back and got a new one. The replacement didn't fit either so I sent that one back and got another. By the time the third one came I was so pissed off I spent 800 bucks on a jacket that didn't fit as good as I had hoped but just kept it anyways, it still does the trick and looks better now that I broke it in and took off the fur thing.

My advice is to try one on before taking the plunge. If not you may end up like me having to send back a couple coats before committing.
I was up in Canada at the time so there was no hope of trying one on, I dont think Schotts are found in many stores outside NYC.

If you can't try one on then be very leery of making such a big investment. If you are in NYC then you gotta hit the store up and get sized out and try on the various styles.

Simple - don't look old.

No - seriously - don't know what you mean. Also asking girls about wardrobe is a slippery slope. Better take a male friend with you who has an idea about Game and r-selected perceptions. Or ask a strange girl if you look better with the leather jacket or without - tell her that you want to pick a wardrobe that A boyfriend would not wear. Fuck - this is even a good indirect Daygame opener, since girls love this kind of cat-nip. Gotta remember that.

Besides - not all men can wear leather jackets - some are more coat-guys.

It's all about the cut, fit and styling.

That one is an older style. My first leather jacket was the same style. After I got called looking like Marty McFly I closeted it [Image: tongue.gif] Newer ones are slimmer fitting and don't have as obnoxious as hem on the bottom.

I will be getting a Schott leather jacket in the next few weeks, is anyone familiar with their sizing since I can't try before buying??

With leather jackets, if you look like a bad ass or tougher type they will look great. Nerdy or office worker looking and they will have the opposite effect!

It's all in the aura you give off. Look at Krauser, I believe he said he is an accountant (or in finances) which is your typical dorky office worker job. He has been very successful in becoming the r-selected male (he also often rocks the leather jacket & boots) and that has to do with his aura and his inner game. He has the inner game to match his look.

Depends how big you are. I'm 5"11 170 and large is fine. I first got medium and it was way too short which surprised me since I'm not exactly tall.

It's hard to tell at first because they are so stiff and boxy/Bulky but they actually do break in and relax over time.

To accelerate the process I wore mine out on a rainy day when running errands and while it was damp I kind of stretched my body around a bit when I got home. Next day it fit better.
