That reply above wasn't a strawman. Your post directly implied that bad neighborhoods are caused by illegal immigrants. And my response is: Yes, illegal immigrants do cause bad neighborhoods. And so does every other nationality and race.

My point is that illegal immigration is bad and has a negative effect on an area. I'm not picking on Mexicans or any other specific nationality out of that group, but illegals. A lot of illegals are Mexican. Not all illegals are Mexican.

Besides MS-13, Mexican mafia, Surrenous/Nortenos gangs, etc.. all have a lot in common. They recruit heavily from the barrios and rely on these multi-generation families (with illegals) to replenish their numbers in prison and also as a conduit to cross border trafficking. They are scum.

It's amazing how blind a lot of Americans are to the obvious. I have very little skin in the game these days since I live abroad. But god help some of you. I just hope America keeps it together for a few more decades at least.

I wonder how many people who say that illegal immigration is destroying this country have ever worked in restaurants, landscaping, or construction. Of the low percentage who have, I wonder how many people have ever seen one of those businesses survive without illegal aliens. I believe the dude said in another thread that he has only ever seen two ehite dishwashers and both were one step out of prison. I don't know if I have even seen that many and I worked at higher volume restaurants than thedude does for many years.

And don't even get me started on trying to play in the yard as a kid. Why, there were no yards! Everything was either barren rock or tangled undergrowth. Only the Mexicans are capable of mowing lawns, everyone knows that.

Americans do the work -> Cheap labor comes in and businesses hire them for way less -> Americans refuse to do those jobs for what they now pay -> Critics say Americans refuse these jobs and only immigrants can fill these positions.

Btw, only 3-4% of illegal immigrants work in agriculture.

But again, this ties into what I've been saying throughout this thread (so much for me being done with this thread...)

I genuinely feel that the work ethic in this country has changed. Media has led the younger generations to believe that somehow, SOMEHOW, they will all be millionaires. All they have to do is come up with the right idea. With all these people aspiring for greatness, noone is aspiring for middle class. Values and desires have changed greatly. People used to want a family and a modest house. Now they want fewer kids and more stuff. There is a thirst for money that the world has never seen before.

There was a time that an honest day's work, a job well done, and a working class paycheck was enough to make a man happy, because he had a family to go home to and a community and society that supported him. Where is that now? Gone forever.

Obviously, we were not dwelling in caves and licking our plates clean before Mexicans got here. But our values changed, and Americans, by and large, got sick of doing manual labor and found it advantageous to pay immigrants to do the dirty work for us. And you're going to fault the immigrants?

While OUR values have changed, most Mexican immigrants that I've seen have values similar to America's old values: family and community. In my neighborhood, which is probably 90%+ Mexican, they spend their days off at the park in huge groups, having BBQs, playing with the kids, lighting off fireworks. I don't see white families anywhere in L.A. doing this. The men go off and work menial jobs and come home to their family where their fatass wife has some killer homemade food waiting for them.

I've read a lot of stats being thrown around while participating in this thread. When I've made previous assertions, it's with lumping legal and illegal immigrants together to simply address the previous issue of foreigners taking American jobs.

At the same time, increasing militarism has concentrated power in an omnipotent presidency that answers to few, if any. Government no longer attracts first-rate men, only parasites, women, and members of indolent underclass elements looking to sponge off the government.

In the declining years of Rome, taxation became so oppressive that citizens actually were willing to flee across imperial frontiers to escape the burden of the tax collector. After the Emperors Pertinax and Gallienus, the system was forced to bind people to the land and compel sons to adopt the trades of their fathers.
