It's called Lugless. It's a pretty interesting business plan.
Basically, you call them up and they mail your stuff round trip for as low as 70 bucks.
I have yet to use it, but I might give it a try next time I fly down to the DR.

I like how they advertise "ridiculous luggage fees" yet they're charging $69/bag. Even American airline companies only charge about $50 per bag. I'd be more concerned with my bag getting lost in the mail than paying an extra baggage fee.

I'd prefer just to pack lighter. You really don't need much more than a duffel bag and maybe a backpack, all within airline regulations and not having to check anything in.

I used to just travel with my wallet.
Harder to do when you travel some place cold though.

I usually travel with just my laptop, cellphone, camera, 1 clean shirt, 2-3 changes of socks and boxers, toothbrush and deodorant, and even then I still feel that im carrying too much.

UPS here in the states works better than taking your luggage on board. At most it takes 3 days to ship it from LA to NYC.
