Ditch Your Caps, Get a Hat!

I used to wear regular baseball caps, but recently I upgraded to some proper quality hats like this one:

Big difference. I'm getting compliments left and right. Try it for yourself!

Honestly in my part of the country this hat is a calling card for hipsters.

I wear snapbacks on the regular. It helps that I'm young so I can pull them off but the only graduating I see myself doing is to either no hat or dad caps in my 50s.

Agreed. I generally see these types of hats on hipsters, neckbeards, atheistkult, betas, etc. When not sporting fedoras, this is their second choice.

I will not be partaking.

Yup, it screams "slap me I'm a bitch".

Why wear a hat at all unless you're in sub-zero temperatures.

A flat/ivy cap still looks better than a baseball cap, IMO, even if a lot of douchebag hipsters also wear it. I think it's easier to pull off than a fedora. Keep the brim pulled-down low, just over your eyebrows to get a little of a danger look going. Kangol and Ililily are two cheap, but good brands. If you aren't wearing stupid hipster clothes with it, instead wearing more refined or rugged clothes, I think you can escape being classified as a hipster while wearing it.

You know there are two different purposes for a hat right? One to keep warm and the other to block sunlight

Well, to each his own. You can upload ugly pics of guys with hats and hate on em or you can go to a proper store and try on some quality hats (e.g. Stetson) and see for yourself. I don't know how old you guys are, but if you think that wearing a traditional hat makes you look like a hipsters, then you have a long way to go.

For a guy 25+, snapbacks are probably not a good idea.

I have a black flex fit cap that I wear when doing low key things. No logos, puffy raisied stuff etc, with sunglasses its got the 'celebrity avoiding the papparazzi' look which I am fine with

It may just depend on the location.

Those hats are EXCLUSIVE to the skinny jean bearded hipster crowd where I'm from.

Nahhhhh.

No one has ever looked cooler by wearing one of those hats.

Fedoras are actually very trendy right now, at least in certain locations, like Abbott Kinney in the Venice area. But the rest of your style and look has to be dialed in to pull it off, and you don't wear just any hat - Nick Fouquet makes some exemplary hats. Definitely not a fashion move for a novice. I don't have any of these hats myself, because they are expensive and I'm not sure how often I'd wear it.

I WOULD wear a nice panama hat though - those look very dapper but not dated, especially if you get the dimensions right which can be a challenge (i.e. picking the optimal brim and crown size for your face). I find the traditional ones have too long a brim, and the hipster cheap ones have too short a brim.

If you have a handsome masculine face, a fedora or panama can frame it very well, eg Don Draper.
