Fucked up. Americans tend to hate their poor and believe they get whatever they deserve, so I doubt things are gonna change anytime soon.

17 with no income but she has a car and she's driving it around... ? Why the hell is she driving around doing that interview? Yes the probation companies are extorting the poor just like payday loan companies and pawn shops and insurance companies and health insurance, but don't tell me its not a crime to be poor and these people got on probation by minding their own business... Poverty is a mindset and I would bet money that these people who can't afford $35 a month have cable tv and a bigger TV than most the people on this forum.

It appears to be a family car, and did you notice it is a total pile? A decrepit low-end Saturn that has a broken starter and non-functional window motor. God only knows the mileage. How much do you think it's worth--maybe $500?

Moreover, have you ever lived in a rural (or even suburban) area of this country? If the car were sold, how the hell would the family have any chance of commuting to work or anywhere else?

So, let me get this straight. The ACLU wants me to feel bad for poor people who get jailed because they can't pay into some scam where they are milked for $35/month until they off their owed fees.

Holy fuck, what a revelation! Lets stop this crisis!! How about the ACLU does a film on divorced parents, who have committed no crime, being jailed for not paying thousands of dollars per month over 18-21 years. Save those people first, then I'll step up for the private probation victims.

Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing? Psalm 2:1 KJV

Part of the way big money creates new troughs to feed in.
