Investing in a MMA fighter..good idea?

I always had this idea of investing in a fighter and then make money out of it. Basically discover the next Anderson Silva, put money into him and wait for returns.

I am currently in Colombia and I have been meeting some really good fighters down here. I am going to Brazil in few months and knowing Brazil way better than here probably my best bet is to invest in a kid over there. However I have no idea on how to take this on international level. How do I go around this If i want to take a kid to the States and get him to fight over there in large competitions?

Is this a smart investment? What are some things I should be watching out for?

I would appreciate any advice on this.

Though I boxed a bit in high school I'm far from an expert on the fight game and honestly don't really know anything about it as a business but MMA fighters who make money are the elite of the elite. It's like saying why don't I go down to the projects in Chicago and invest in the next Michael Jordan. What are the chances the guy I pick is going to go somewhwere and what type of arrangment are you going to have with this fighter? Does he sign an exclusive contract for you to be his manager for the next 5 years? What if he doesn't make it big until year 6 and you've put in all the work and someone else makes the money? Also what exactly will you be investing in or sponsoring? I'm guessing maybe paying to fly him around to compete in different tournaments and make a name for himself.

My buddies brother in law or gfs cousin or something like that is Clay Guida. He's no Silva but still probably a known name by most who follow MMA. I don't know too much about the guy but I never got the impression he was rich and he's a pretty big name so wondering how much upside there is unless you find the next Silva.

I think the fight game is as much about connections, politics and luck as it is having a good fightr. Unless you have connections and are well versed in this industry I think your throwing money in a hole.
