I have a client (XYZ Widgets) who recently got some bad press due to an employee getting into some trouble.
Now several of the top search engine results for their company are news articles like "John Smith, long-time employee of XYZ widgets, blah blah blah did something really stupid."
The client asked if I could bury the bad news and "get it off off Google." I told them I would do some research and put together a proposal.
So, does anyone here have any experience with this? Anyone ever worked with an online reputation management firm? If so, what exactly did they do for you?
Fortunately the client has a pretty extensive and content-heavy website that I can use to pump rankings of positive news articles and social media profiles.
How much does Google take into account the age of legacy news content? Will this problem die down on it's own to some extent over the next few months?
Any input is appreciated! This thread could turn into a valuable resource for guys who need to scrub their personal digital brands as well.
Cheers,
Frost
