College student accidentally got sent a drone... and posted it online, almost certainly ensuring he doesn't get to keep it.

But I'm glad. Because this is by far the funniest headline of the year.

Is it just me or people nowadays prefer the attention from a bunch of strangers on the internet, over building and flying your own free drone and not telling anyone.

Selection bias. You only hear about the people who prefer to get your attention.

I really don't understand this kid's logic. Being honest is cool, but at least take the drone out on a couple of flights before you report it. This guy in my dorm has a tiny toy helicopter and chicks love it. Imagine how much they'd love a motherfucking drone.

But no, he has to be Mr. Goodytwoshoes. Too scared of his own Government to have a minimal amount of fun.

Heck, he he should have asked them if he could play around with it a bit before returning it. Pretty sure they would have been cool with that.

I'd take the drone and crash it into the NSA's Langely office.

"Look babe, I have a $350k drone that I'm going to steal from my government that doesn't have problems with killing its citizens over petty things (and plans to do it with similar drones) just to show you how cool I am and put my penis in your vagina. Look, I don't even know how to assemble it let alone fly it but I will figure it out in a month or two in which time SWAT and FBI raids will kill my ass five times. In that time you'll be fucking frat bro Fred who will get your pussy with a beer pong bet while I turn myself into enemy of state to get the same."

The guy is right for returning it.

Langley's CIA. NSA is in Fort Meade, I drive past it on the way to the airport.
It would be funny though to get it shot down by a SAM missile battery.

Those who would say he should have assembled and used it are probably those who wouldn't say anything if the bank put a sum of cash in their account by accident.

Then come up with an excuse along the lines of "but but if its in my account its mine?"...right as they slam you for charges.

350,000k is enough to warrant someone to come looking for it and they would have found him.

Yeah, the kid would have gotten fucked over by the government somehow if he would have done anything with it.

If he crashed it and damaged anything, they'd have charged up the ass. They probably would have hit him with some type of criminal charges and fines even if he didn't damage anything.

People are afraid of the government these days for good reason.

Back in the day, you could do understandable mischief, take your slap on the wrist, and have a great story to tell you. These days they'll bend your right over and do their best to ruin your life as much as they can get away with.

To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes
frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Kipling

It was only a few parts for one, it was hardly capable of flying judging by the report.
